LMy folks are needing their 20 yr old boiler replaced but are wanting to avoid British Gas.
Does anyone have any recommendations for someone to replace it for them?

Do NOT go near British Gas. They will try and guilt you into unnecessary work and charge more than others.
AM Reid are local and decent (and advertise in EEP). Companies like BOXT are worth getting a quote from but I`d guess AM Reid will do it cheaper and BOXT are part owners of Worcester Bosch so will push WB boilers more, which isn`t necessarily a bad thing as they`re decent boilers with a 10 year warranty.

I used Edinburgh Boiler Company and was most satisfied. Difficult installation logistically but good clean job and good finance options with 10 year guarantee on WB Greenstar 4000.

Thank you everybody for your recommendations. They`ve had two quotes and are getting a third one this week.
British Gas however have quoted almost £1000 more than the other quote.

BG are absolute bandits. The quote I went with was £1500 less and they did a far better job than BG did on the house next door.
