I have literally never used or been on Twitter or whatever its called. In fact, I no longer have any social media apart from Reddit if you want to call it that. Facebook and that are poison.

Only signed up to X about two years ago. Thought it surely can`t be that bad. It is. Racism, anti semitism, misogyny, all of it rife.
I use Blue Sky more. It`s not as busy and it does become a bit more of an echo chamber on certain political issues but at least it`s not as nasty or sinister as X.
And although my eyes were open
They just might as well be closed

I came off Twitter again earlier in the year. The algorithms are a joke. Click on one article about the horror on the Cowgate last year and inundated with videos of similar, if not worse incidents. Dont follow any Reform MPs - newsfeed littered with their posts.
Place is an absolute hovel now and Facebook will probably start heading the same way now that Zuck is in with Trump too.

I left X when Musk bought it. It was toxic enough without his “contributions”.
I joined Bluesky ~ I like it there. Couple of dot netters on it too - get a good laugh on it and zillions of cat things! 🐱

Don’t have any social media and don’t feel like I’m missing out - in fact I’d say that overall and in balance, it’s been detrimental to society - and I’m so glad it didn’t exist when I was younger!
I suppose I’m lucky in that I see my friends every week and we catch up then
Edited to say that I do get annoyed that people go on about technology, their data, power of people like musk and yet give them it all by using them?!?

Only use it to monitor football scores and rumours but even then it doesn`t take much to be exposed to blatant misinformation and racism. All social media gives megaphones to the thickest people in society.
The biggest issue for me is it feels like people can`t hold a moderate view like "there is an issue with immigration and we need to address it" without being attacked from both sides. It feels like for issues around things like immigration you have to be either "invite people in with open arms" or "machine gun the boats!". Disappointing to see people jump on Garron Noone last week for making pretty moderate comments about Irish immigration.

I joined several years ago but rarely looked at it and posted even less, maybe 3 or 4 times in total. It was there but almost invisible, but since Musk bought it I`m getting unwanted notifications several times a day. Time to jump ship, me thinks.
Is it easy enough to join Bluesky? - sounds far more civilised. 🙂
