A wee equaliser for Arbroath and a United win would be nice.

I am quite happy at the scores from today ,
For a change they went in our favour ,
Didn`t see too much from Dundee United as da no 1 says they were just average
If we can score first against them this Friday night who know`s what will happen

Aye, but before last nights game it was all doom and gloom and we were in a relegation battle according to some in here 😂

We`ve won 6 points from four home games and 8 points from six away games. I think we may have to improve our home form to make a real challenge for promotion. As last season we may find it difficult to break teams down at East End.

Not sure on the metric for being `average` but i`d take Dundee Utd to win the league by a double digit point difference based on what i`ve seen so far.

Behave myself? I would interpret challenging for a play-off place as challenging for promotion. What are we supposed to do if we get there? Stop trying?

Behave yourself - we are not getting promoted.
A very successful season might see us participate in the playoffs, but we`re nowhere near good enough to go up yet. Perhaps in a couple of years, if we can continue to build and develop our young squad.
Did you think the same about Livingston when they done back to back promotions from League One? Hows that fared for them so far?

Did Livingston have a squad with an average age of 23 back then?

There are 6 squads in the division with an average age below 25. Queens Park(21.1), Pars(23.2), Ayr (23.6), Airdrie (24.1), Inverness and Dundee Utd(both 24.9).Arbroath`s squad is 29.1 which is the oldest by 2 years over Morton who are next. The average across the whole division is 25.1.

It`s your comment that was moronic, not mine. I didn`t say we were going to win promotion but I`d like to hear a manager`s pre-season pep talk when he tells the players we`re aiming for the play-offs but not for promotion.

The championship is risky. It`s pretty much a given that Dundee Utd will be be promoted and play offs are difficult. So why spend ££££ to NOT get promoted? Surely not getting relegated is good enough?
Next season may be different. It looks likely a club like St Johnstone will come down and they don`t have the backing to buy their promotion back to the Premiership.
I`d suggest we might get a play off spot, especially with some key players coming back.

It`s a pity you didn`t follow your own advice as then you wouldn`t have responded. In a 10-team league with play-offs available for positions 3 to 4 a club like ours would be pretty unambitious if we weren`t challenging for promotion.

All wee eck said was :-

There ye go .. Whats the point of playing if we don`t challenge ? .. I also agree that we perhaps won`t get promotion and also probably not ready for it .. But lets get out there and play to win every game .. I expect nothing less .. COYP

I am sure the aim is to get into a playoff spot. If we do I would see that as a big success this season. In the playoffs anything can happen.
