Clearly thinking that if the prices are higher the crowd will still be high - high prices and TV game could knock walk up attendance by 2k…alleviate that by lowering prices and trying to get a sell out a month before Xmas…

Nope. It’s up to the clubs to agree pricing. If clubs can’t agree on a price, it defaults to the home club’s league prices.
28.3 Subject to the terms of this Competition Rule 28, the charges for admission for Matches shall be agreed by the Clubs competing in that particular Match. If the competing Clubs are unable to agree, the charges which are normally made for the regular fixtures of the Home Club will apply.

Exactly this but it’s .net eck you Ken what folk are like for having a moan on here for virtually nothing it’s been pointed out here I’m sure as well as elsewhere that if a price can’t be agreed on by both clubs then the price reverts to the home clubs gate price for league games

Think I’m in the minority, I thought £20 for a Scottish Cup tie against one of our biggest rivals was a reasonable price.
Only a fiver for U18 as well.
For Inverness and Arbroath it’s £21 a ticket for a seat in the Norrie walk up price, I find that more offensive to be honest than paying for it against Raith.

Difference is this games on the telly, 4 weeks before Xmas, with 4 other home games in the same 4 weeks….also season ticket holders have to pay as well, meaning additional outlay on their part (Im not an ST holder btw).

We haven’t had cup games included in our Season Ticket for a long time now and folk know what they are getting up front before they buy one, additional outlay yes, but not really an unexpected one.
We won’t be making much money with it being chosen to be on the TV, it will detract some from making it in person for sure but don’t think it should devalue the fixture from the £20 gate price, personally think that is a fair price for a Scottish Cup tie against one of our biggest rivals, on a Friday night as well which I quite like, given the way the fixtures have played out to date, could be a really entertaining game with a great atmosphere still at the £20.
I totally understand the fixtures and a run at home, noting the date of the fixture being close to Christmas, that’s not the club or Raith’s fault though and can’t see that being in the rationale behind lowering the price.
Like I say, £25 for me and my son, would be £28 to see Inverness this Saturday and Arbroath and any other league game. So I disagree with those thinking it’s greed or a rip off, because I don’t think it is.

But the catch is that is reserves the first attempt to buy for 15 minutes, so you have to wait it out as it is reserved ironically by your first attempt, change to u18 cup then you`ll be able to buy. Bit of a faff, but works.

Had to laugh when I head Brian McLaughlin interview James McPake after the game on Saturday and said that it would be a great occasion and you`d be looking at a crowd of 7 or 8 thousand... can`t see it myself. Doesn`t help that we haven`t been bigging it up on out social media channels. We saw similar last year too with the Falkirk games, whereas they were really pushing things, and obviously the Rovers socials have improved immeasurably recently. We are trying to get more professional off the park but we aren`t quite there yet.

The League Cup game at Kirkcaldy in July (5.15 ko) was on the TV and had a crowd of just over 4,000. Surely we can beat that!
It`s strange. During the lockdown when all we had was streamed matches fans were crying out for live games but now some fans would rather stay at home and watch a Fife derby on the box.

IMHO we as fans may think it’s a “failure” in pricing as it will create a smaller crowd with a poorer atmosphere but will either club business managers be bothered as 5000 fans @£20 each is £100k whereas 6000 fans @ £15 is £90k.
I know this is back of the fag packet arithmetic as there are concessions etc but whatever way you look at it we would need at least 25% more fans in the ground if the prices were reduced.
Also if the game wasn’t on the telly would there be as much chat around pricing do you think?

Must be some talented youngsters down your way if they can knock up a Manga style poster at 5 years old.
Even if you don`t like the artwork (and I think some of them are quite good), they`ll be publishing that tickets are on sale, how many they`ve sold etc. I don`t even recall there being too many posts about tickets being on general release from our side?

"This game shouldn`t need "bigged up" and i`m quite glad we haven`t resorted it to stupid wee cartoon adverts that look like they`ve been drawn by 5 year old bairns."
You`re awfy easily impressed. I think they look absolutely crap.
Out of interest, on these regular updates Raith are producing this week, how many tickets have they sold?

Can’t be any more than 2k tickets sold so far. Be lucky to get 4k at this rate. Pretty poor but understandable due to pricing, TV, time of year etc.

Think the club have made a bit of a faux pas in terms of seats being sold in the North West. The front two rows of seats in Section G where Section North West occupy are on sale - these are always unavailable as this is where they`ve installed the crush barrier behind and have the banners covering.

A `few hundred` had been sold by Sunday and now it`s around 2k. That doesn`t sound too bad and sales usually pick up as match day gets nearer.

You have to be realistic. The majority of the country is absolutely skint. An extra home game this month will be a stretch too far for lots of our fans. I find it sad that people are branded less of a fan or the line it`s "only" twenty quid is branded about. Lots of adults/parents have some really really difficult decisions to make, especially at this time of year. I don`t think missing a football match will be one of the hardest decisions they have to make.

Tbh I have never liked going to Friday night football games. Hard week on the tools and its good to chill out on a Friday night looking forward to the game on a Saturday. Sitting in with a few beers and watching the game on the tv will do just fine for me tomm.
People may say its £20 down for the club but iv just spent over £200 in the club shop on xmas presents for the boy and nephews so it can be made up in other ways.
2-0 win for the pars and onto the next round!

I will shout double for you. Good man and I think you are right. You are a better club shop fan than me. I doth my cap.
I think the last couple of posts sum this up and it is dependent upon people’s situations. Given the size of the crowd, I suspect whoever made the pricing decision got it wrong, unless there is a massive uplift in sales.

A lot being said but is the fact of the situation being realised. Cup rules state both clubs need to agree the pricing for the game, if they fail to agree the entry price defauts to what a league would have been charged for entry. No big secret just plain sense.

Fair enough. I knew they were scrapped during Covid. However, didn’t know they were brought back for a year before being scrapped again. I was just basing it off of the fact our game with Morton went to extra time a couple of years ago and the Partick game last year.

In fairness, only around 50% of that £20 will go to the club. Remove £3.33 VAT and it’s £16.67 revenue per ticket. Then, as it’s a cup game, Raith get around 40% of ticket revenue, so deduct another £6.67. So the club only get around £10 for every £20 ticket sold. If you want to ‘give the club £20’ buying a ticket isn’t the best way to do it.
I was there tonight. But if people couldn’t afford it/justify the cost at this time of year, it doesn’t make them less of a fan at all. Those who couldn’t make it, will be just as disappointed as those who were.
