I can’t watch any more. Scotland are dire at the back, nowhere near good enough to even try playing out from defence. That was at least the third time they’ve failed to clear and it was only a matter of time before the Swiss caught them out. Back to the drawing board….

It looks like being another long night. Despite how we played in qualifying we look very out of place at this tournament - can`t string more than 2-3 passes together, launching high balls up to McGinn and Adams, lots of individual errors. Still hope tonight, but it`s tough to watch.

We are 39th in the world rankings, and we just came within a post width of beating the team ranked 19th.
Following a sore gubbing just a few days ago I think we lifted ourselves and put on a good performance.
We lost our way a bit after a terrible lapse for their equaliser, but we went for it in the second half and nearly got the win.

I kind of agree but we knew 3rd was the place to be had we lost the opening game. Clark knew this was on the table and he’s planned on 4 points to get us through the group.
We now know the script and a must win on Sunday.
I kind of prefer knowing we must win now than hoping for a draw as we usually bottle it.

Agree PARrot. Much better performance and a pity to give away a goal like that. Starting with Gilmour helped, although I would have liked to have seen Shankland given a bit more than just a few minutes. A draw would probably been fair but we were so close to scoring that second. Probably did enough to deserve a point from it. First half was pretty poor and generally frustrating - like Friday, we just couldn`t cope with the press and rarely got anywhere. Again, the risk of pushing on in the first half was too great, and Clarke obviously knows that the players he has there are not at the level of a decent interational side. It`s not his fault and it`s not their fault - he`s just trying to find a decent balance that doesn`t leave us wide open. However, what was really annoying was that when we did have a chance to do something in the first half, we often made basic mistakes which just kept the pressure on us.
Second half was better, as I thought it would be. Once their press died off a bit around 55-60 mins it was quite an even game with us probably having slightly more of the play from then on. If Switzerland had scored again to win 2-1 it wouldn`t have been underserved, but it was a good second half effort to get through the game and get a point.
It was quite interesting watching the Switzerland press. They didn`t do it constantly - sometimes they eased off and allowed us some time on the ball, but they switched it on quickly when we played into an area where it would work for them. That meant they were able to maintain the intensity of it for a bit longer than they would had they pressed all the time.

Any goal thats come from a shot on target should be credited to the shooter. Doesnt matter how it ends up in the net, its on target. Anything heading for the post or wide should be an own goal. Always been the case.

In some ways our goal was more of a defensive error than theirs was. It would have been a simple save for Sommer to make if the defender hadn`t intervened unnecessarily. Shaqiri had a lot to do after latching on to Ralston`s horrific back-pass and many players might have fluffed the chance. Most goals involve some kind of error or misjudgement and there have been plenty in this tournament so far.

I doubt very much if safety first super cautious Clarke will change much.
The Hungarians have nothing to lose as even a win for them might not be enough. I expect them to have a very attacking line up and they have looked good at times.
I would love to see Conway and Morgan play as these two have genuine pace, something that we have lacked.
I am sure it will be more or less the same team and tactics from SC.
What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

We need pace in the team if we are going to hurt Hungary on the break. Conway has pace, Shankland doesn’t.

Yes but the shot was on target and there was no way of knowing if the keeper wouldn’t have made the same kind of error - which wouldn’t be an own goal either. Hence why McTominay was awarded it.

Sommer had it covered for a comfortable save until Schar "assisted" McTominay`s shot into the goal.
If a defender makes a deliberate attempt to play the ball but diverts it into his own net - that`s an OG in my book.
Other opinions differ obviously.

Yeah. If Albania and Croatia both lose their last game and say Poland and Austria draw this afternoon and then both lose their last game, then a draw against Hungary would take us through. Trouble is we’re not going to know this on Sunday, so we have to go for it.

If - for example - Albania, Croatia, Poland and Austria all finish with 1 point, then there’d be 2 third placed teams on 1 point. We’d then go through with a draw in third place on 2 points regardless of goal difference.
Not likely, but not zero chance either.

Well you’d certainly get very long odds on a team going through with 2 points, but Czech Republic and Georgia could also draw with each other and both lose their last game to have a third placed team on 1 point.

Two third-placed teams already have 3 pts and possibly a third if there’s a winner between Czechia and Georgia tomorrow. And we can be pretty sure that Slovenia isn’t going to lose to England by 4 goals. So I stick by my original statement.

With the draw between Czechia and Georgia, if Scotland end up with 2 pts and -4 GD, you can bet that Croatia will finish just ahead by managing a draw against Italy and ending up with 2 pts and -3 GD.
The draw just now means that Hungary could qualify with a win tomorrow. That does not make them a more difficult opponent because I don’t believe in this instance they would have been an easy opponent if they had nothing to play for.
