Dunfermline Athletic is thrilled to announce the signing of three rising stars from our very own Academy. In an endorsement of the success of our youth development programme, seventeen-year-old John Tod, Mark Beveridge and Freddie Rowe, have all agreed two-year Apprenticeship contracts.
These promising young players caught the eye with their outstanding performances in the Under 18s last season, showcasing skills and potential that hint at bright futures ahead. Their talent didn’t go unnoticed, as all three were integral members of the triumphant Dunfermline squad that clinched last season’s SPFL Reserve League Cup. This exciting development not only secures these gifted players for the club but also underlines Dunfermline Athletic’s commitment to nurturing homegrown talent. We can look forward to watching how John, Freddie, and Mark will contribute to the first team in seasons to come.
The club wishes to acknowledge the valuable ongoing support for youth development with the generous donations from the Centenary Club, the Pars Supporters Trust and the Former Players Association.
There are more details with comments on the three boys` experience to date on COWS.

That`s good news, they all sound like good prospects. Is it Rowe that has been involved in the Scotland age group teams?
I was a bit cheesed off with the club after the Forfar match but this Academy probably is the way to go. I still think we need big, strong, physical players to form the spine on the first team though. To develop these kids into first team players they need good experienced professionals to take the burden off them in games and talk them through it. The club should be talking to good players, guys that are thinking about their career after football, helping them through their coaching badges and giving them an age group team to look after

Couple of people I`ve spoken to who have done bits and bobs on the academy side of things absolutely rave about John Tod.

John Tod is Andy`s (middle?) son and thus Andrew`s brother. I`ve seen him play centre-back and up front for the youth team. I would conclude he is tall for his age, and quite versatile. I thought he had broken his leg at the tail-end of last season but have seen him at a couple of games this season and he appears unencumbered.
Freddie Rowe is the player who has been involved with the Scottish Schoolboys. I`ve only seen him a couple of times but I described him as being an attacking left-sided midfielder who likes taking players on.

Buffy`s updates could get interesting - Tod hits it long to Todd who crosses to Tod in the box.

The club has reduced the possibility of confusing the Sutherland brothers in commentary by sending Taylor`s younger brother, Jake (also a striker), on a season-long loan to Cowdenbeath.

Good news, hopefully these guys can have a good season and maybe even get the occaisonal bench or some minutes to help them along.
We don’t have any issues with our youngsters, it’s the more experienced pro’s which are giving us the headaches in terms of performance levels and fitness.

Twice. Around then: Bobby, Craig & Graeme but early-mid 80s Bobby had two others in the team. I can`t think of them off-hand...one might have been Alex.

The year is about right. I’m sure we had a televised game where all 4 played. Jock Brown was commentator if memory serves and he constantly had to remind viewers what Smith was on the ball
