Courier reporting we might be in for a fight to keep otoo during today, don’t want to loose him he’s a big asset for us, also will we see any more signed today? Or in fact any one leaving?

Does it mention the interested clubs?
If ever the player was tempted to leave, it might be now, with all the upheaval off the park and the struggles on the park ?
Being cynical, the owners might want the transfer fee ?

Staying in the championship will be worth more to the owners than what we will get for Otoo.
If he does go we better bring in another two at least. One to replace him and a left winger.
What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

If we get £200k for Otoo we probably need to take it and invest it in 3-4 experienced heads.
Yes it’s a very short term solution but at the moment we don’t look like staying up so need solutions for this season as the cost if we go down will be much higher.

Selling on deadline day has its disadvantages. If we were going to invest some of the fee to strengthen the team we would need to have targets lined up! We are not exactly proactive in that area?

We are worse than proactive in that area, we dismiss players as we do not know them.
We might still be able to invest that money in the loan market paying bigger proportion of wages to get better experienced pro’s in.

Ayr United are set to sign Alfie Bavidge on loan from Aberdeen.
United boss and former Dons captain Scott Brown has used his contacts to land the young striker.
The Scotland Under-19 cap could go into the squad for Ayr’s game at Dunfermline Athletic.
The 18-year-old had loan interest from Inverness and Cove Rangers. but he`s has already played at League One level when he was at Kelty Hearts last season.
The Dons see the move to the Championship as the next stage in his development.

I see a couple of young Scottish players who haven`t established themselves yet up here have moved to England. Seb Lochhead (16) has moved from Dundee to Wolves and Brendan Forbes (18) has moved from Dundee United to Norwich. English clubs obviously still think it`s worth having scouts covering Scottish games.
Ben Doak has joined Middlesbrough on loan for the season.

A lot of players will have become free agents after last night, meaning they can sign for anyone outside the transfer window, but they`ll be in no rush to accept the first offer that comes along. Chris Clay was in that category already.

it doesnt happen that often now so it wont be a lot if any, Grimshaw the only one up here i think.
ill take a punt and say one of the two targets that didnt sign was a midfielder, Clay was a back up option and will be offered a deal now.
whether he signs or not, there wont be many "experienced" loans available, the free agents up here havent really changed and there will be a few down south that might be worth a look, still needing at least two players in from somewhere.

How did you come to that conclusion, CrossPar? Do you know something we don`t or is it just speculation? If Clay was prepared to join the Pars for money within our budget, I can`t imagine McPake would keep him hanging on. He has a decent CV.

I was just voicing an alternative theory to the statement that Clay is holding out for the best deal given that loan players are available for the next month. We don`t know whether McPake has offered him anything or not.

In the Courier Dave Mackay says Chris Clay is still training with the Pars.
Bene will miss tomorrow`s game with a hamstring problem; not serious but he may miss the Fife derby too. With Tommy Fogarty away with NI under-21s there`s a good chance Sam Young will start tomorrow. DM rates him highly especially his heading ability.

Be good to see more of young, could be his breakthrough season with bene already struggling with his fitness.
If there’s only one player left to come in I’d rather see a left sided winger than another midfielder. Not looking like we’ll see anyone else go out on loan to free up an additional spot.

Ngwenya injured again, if we were looking at left back loan options, Matthew Anderson has gone from Celtic B to Admira Wacker in Austria again, Ben Summers going too.
Mackay was talking last week about the loan market being quiet and it should pick up later in the month, will it though for who they want and what is needed? im not so sure. Clay is still here and "doing great" according to McPake today, the free agent route might be the better option.
