I thought the new lad would be on the bench. Probably to early considering he only signed yesterday. He`ll need a bit of time to get settled, maybe a week to train with new teammates?

We absolutely need a midfielder in before the window shuts, too many midfielders on the books already but none good quite up to it.

Plenty time to get back into it but not a great start.

Bannockburn matty todd having a very poor season. Looks like he just can’t cut it in that role at this level which is a shame. Currently getting a game due to lack of alternative attacking midfielders who have any legs.

Hopefully Tidser has someone decent identified, would make such a difference to have some quality in there.

Linesman gave a corner when it was a clear goal kick. Referee rectified that with the old phantom foul at the resulting corner.

They have picked up 3 points in 19 games before today and we haven’t bothered to turn up.

Tidser got a job on his hands to get much out of this group before most leave in 4 months. Has he brought his boots, he’s better than anything we have in midfield.

Airdrie pressing us high up the field while we let them do what they want until they’re 30 yards from goal.

Every single player back for any airdrie set piece when we’re 1-0 down to bottom of the league.

No new ideas or style of play. Just looks exactly the same. That definitely shouldn’t be the case.

Diabolical.

Tidser isn’t daft, everyone knows we needed an overhaul in the summer anyway. Majority of our players aren’t good enough.

Hopefully some drastic changes at half time and get back into the game.

Midfield is a major area that needs addressed.

We have a very good LB on the bench who has legs to get up and down the park. JC does not. He may have got away with playing LB against Stenny but won’t in the Championship.

A McPake two/three sub HT coming up I would hope.

As said above we really need a couple of ballers in midfield.

What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

After watching last Saturdays game I`ve had this same nagging doubt at the back of my mind. It all looked very "McPakey". Lots and lots of pointless aimless passing not getting anywhere. Possession means nothing when you produce no end results. Is this Tidsers` style or is it the only tune he can get out these guys?

Can`t see anything other than a defeat now. It`s not like the goals are against the run of play. Airdrie look fitter, faster and way more up for it.

Worrying times.

And we can really do with a quick goal to get our tails up
certainly wasn`t thinking we would be 2 down to this lot at half time

Just said that to my son. Our only chance is if we score early in the 2nd half.

Tactics are shocking.

I won`t be turning on the new management, McPake left us In an utter disgrace of state.

Diabolical.

Felt the same, I thought we were getting a manager who got it forward earlier.
Meanwhile we have a keeper whose length and accuracy of passing is probably the best in the league and he’s knocking it to nearest defender 5 yards away.

Amazing that, and here was I thinking it was all down to "McFake`s" tactics. Hounding a manager out and getting a quick fix substitute doesn`t always have the necessary effect. Very much hope I`m wrong but visions of Grant and Hughes keep disturbing my dreams.

The players are literally playing for their future at this point and this is what you get? A complete embarrassment. Hopefully Tidser keeps us up and the vast majority of these charlatans are away by the summer. There truly isn’t one player who isn’t expendable.

3-0 down they had a goal chopped off and hit the bar.

Tidser`s passing football from the back will result in teams high pressing us and many more horrific results like today. He needs to wise up quickly.

How can we keep making the same mistakes. Tidser`s football is plain stupid in this league with these players. McPake did the same thing earlier in the season, so bring in a guy with the same daft ideas.

John McLaughlin got it. Should`ve kept him in charge.

I think statistically bringing in a new manager would not miraculously bring about a change in fortunes. It`s going to take time. My thoughts were that no matter who you bring in, we are going to bounce around the bottom until the end of the season. I think realistically we need to look to finish 9th and hopefully stay up after the playoffs.

Airdrie have looked the better team today so we are going to be in a relegation battle with them.

Scudded 3-0 off a team that`s managed 6 points in 20 (twenty) games is a proper disaster performance

McPake wanted to build from the back but it was about this time last year that he changed to bludgeoning the ball up the park and seeing what happened, which ground us out enough points in the end. Reckon with these players Tidser is going to have to do the same

Really interested to hear Tidser post match interview. If it’s the same crap that mcpake used to come out I’ll start to worry.

Hopefully this pushes the new owners into pushing the boat out to get a few experienced loans in. We’re odds on for bottom 2 now and if we throw a performance out like today we could end up in league 1 next season.

Today’s performance is worse than anything under yogi and possibly under grant. A new low?

We were set up very poorly today and made a bad Airdrie team look good. They dominated the game and we can have no complaints about our luck. It seems Tidser has a lot to learn about coaching at this level if today is anything to go by. Worried this may be a sign of things to come.

I think playing out from the back is fine if you create chances at the other end of the park. I agree with other posters that we tried this earlier in the season, and it didn`t work.

I`ve seen a few games this season where we have failed to test the goalkeeper after the first 40 minutes. I thought after the second goal, the game was over given our track record.

I think the target for this season can only be to stay in the championship.

Firmly believed we were getting relegated in July with a squad of League 1/ has been players and nothing has changed that opinion. Did think we would perform a lot better than this garbage today though. Can we get a couple of quality players in before window closes? Otherwise I wouldn’t rule out finishing 10th. Airdrie will take a lot from this convincing result and might go on a wee run.

I`m wouldn`t say so. I can`t imagine McPake getting a better team out there. The problem is a lack of quality back up in key positions. It`s been a case for far too long that we are weak in midfield. I hope Tidser has some ideas for filling positions there. The only real positive of this season will be the sheer number of players out of contract. I`m not doubting their effort but it simply isn`t working.

Thanks, Jake.

It’s just I’ve seen it before in other games over the years. Not that it’s been proven of course,
nor do I think they don’t try, but playing against teams who are worse than us often doesn’t end well.

What happened to the team we had v Stenny? Lots of good moves, and ok Stenny weren’t great, but they rallied the fans and things were looking good going into this game.

It’s early days for Tidser so I’m not going to criticise him, but we need to get the finger out soon.

Safe travels home Pars fans.

Baptism of fire for Tidser, it’s going to be a steep learning curve.

we need a freshness in and quickly. Players just so far off it today, taking extra touch rather than releasing it when chance to spring an atack or trying to play it first time when it wasnt on and getting caught defensivley etc.

Can understand what he is trying to do with shape/set up but don`t think we have the personell to do it or the personell trying do do it are not comfortable enough yet doing it which left us very frail.

Dont think airdrie were any better than us but clinical with the chances they had.

Maybe trying to do too much with the players during the week and confusing them? The focus should really be on the basics just now, finding the best team and getting them to be effective. Worry about `styles` after the season.

Reality check.......we have a manager with no experience of managing in the championship so let`s not get carried away with classing him as a tactical genius.......we played a 1st division team which is more our standard unfortunately but all of a sudden we are getting carried away......we r heading for the playoffs and need to stay ahead of Airdrie who have players back from injury so more dark days ahead for us

I`m going to stick my head above the parapet and suggest that if we don`t have anymore new signings by next week, Wotherspoon and MOH should start, with Chris Kane and Connor Young up front. To invite even more criticism, though hopefully not abuse, I`d also seriously consider bringing Deniz back.

So tired hearing the old "Let`s get a few experienced players in" sentiment. The experienced players we did get in just don`t have the ambition or application to give themselves to the cause. Where are these imaginary players, who are so good , full of ambition and just dying to get signed up for us. Wish we would get real and realise they are a mirage, a figment of the imagination. They don`t exist. Our new manager will have to get these players who have got us into the current situation to get us out of it, the alternative scenario just doesn`t exist.

Problem now is who`s going to come?

My concern is that the window between McP and T, where we got a couple of results could have tempted folk at that moment -...but right now the optics for potential signings look more like we`ve backed an inexperienced manager and were back into a tailspin and heading towards the seaside league

That was absolutely pathetic.
What has happened to Matty Todd? Absolute dross. Lost the ball for the first 2 goals in silly areas and every attack we had broke down at him due to his inability to pass to a boy in the same coloured shirt.
Bene doesn’t have the legs to play in 2 man central defence.
The full backs looked lost today, didn’t seem to have a clue what they were supposed to be doing.

Tidser has his work cut out with this lot.

When I saw experienced I’m not meaning old heads I’m just not meaning loans of young players who have barely played a senior game.

Must be plenty on the fringes of teams in the prem who can’t get a game and if they come here and do well they might get snapped up by us or a better paying championship club. They will struggle to find the next contract if they are not playing in the prem.

Tidser surely can’t be as bad at signing more experienced players than mcpake was? Mcpake had the inside track on these guys and they still let everyone down.

Having been at the cup game where we played Kelty Hearts earlier in the season Kelty persisted in trying to play out from the back. I remember they failed to get the ball past the halfway line about 70% of the time. Normally loosing the ball within a few passes. They stuck with that tactic for the whole game. If this is what Tidser is going to try and get our current players to do then we’re only going to head in one direction.and it ain’t up.

that was disaster. We looked every bit as bad today as we did under mckpake. We really need 5-6 players in before the window is shut, but i don`t think that`s realistically going to happen. MT was already a unfancied appointment and that is the worst possible start he could have had we were awful. That was such a disjointed awful performance it had relegation written all over it. :(

That was the most abysmal performance I have witnessed all season. I missed the match last week due to work commitments, but I made the effort to drive with my daughter today to attend. Our midfield was virtually non-existent, and we incessantly passed the ball backwards. I cannot fathom why, when defending a corner, we have everyone in the box defending. We consistently invited relentless pressure upon ourselves. Have someone sitting on the half way line. If this is the extent of Tidser`s capabilities, I’m not impressed . I was opposed to his appointment beforehand; however, once he was appointed, I was willing to give him my full support. His single objective is to beat the teams in close proximity to us, but he failed to achieve that today.

Traditionally, 40 points guarantees safety; we have 14 matches remaining, requiring at least 7 wins to reach that figure. We have won only 5 matches all season. To be candid, I see no outcome other than relegation looming ahead.

Unless there is a complete overhaul of players during this transfer window, Todd is completely off it. Foggerty struggled today. We need a goalkeeper, a center-back, and a box-to-box midfielder. Maybe harsh on tobi, but I don’t think he’s good enough for a relegation battle.

That line up was awful. The lack of a press was completely off how we have been playing lately and we were doing well. The new manager saw some of it.

No changes in either formation or drive in the first half when it was clearly not working. And we lose the second just before the break.

Today cannot be the fault of players who took Partick apart at Firhill, and held Falkirk to 3-3. We also gave Ayr a run for their money.

That goes down to the manager and who said Joe was ever a left back. When I saw that I started to get concerned.

After 20 mins we were under the cosh with their players getting the ball at will and us running around like headless chickens.

The only plus was O`halloran who did well when he came on but was too late.

Another result or two like that and this new young manager might struggle to get respect from the senior players we do have.

The manager doesn’t know the players yet. He doesn’t know his best team, formation or tactics to suit that yet. He’s been here two weeks. That takes time. Those who expect him (or anyone) to work miracles this early on really are setting themselves up for disappointment

Agree mostly.

Can’t agree on Deniz. He caused more issues than saves he made. Even. he was easily beat 1v1 or from range. He’d make 1 great save and follow up with 3/4 howlers and he’d never have to leave his goal line for any of it

I said last week that I thought it was risky to completely change things tactically and go with a shape that varies and relies on a lot of interchanges of positions. Today showed why it was right to be a bit concerned about it. It was quite an open first 20 minutes and to begin with we looked to have some purpose, having a couple of decent chances early in the game. Sadly, that was as good as it got.

The shape just became a total shambles with us not knowing what we were doing or where we were meant to be. We also allowed them an unchallenged header at almost every corner they put in the box, and twice we didn`t respond when they took it short. And I`m totally unconvinced about playing short so often, and usually trying to play right through the middle. It`s difficult to have much success at this level without a credible direct option. Let`s try and work on one - surely it can`t be that hard if we play Kane and McCann up front. Neither is effective when we don`t show any aggression (I know I say that a lot).

Like any manager, he needs a bit of time to get things together. But I hope he`ll reflect on that game and realise that the way he set out his team was a big reason why it was so bad today. He`s allowed one bad game, but I really hope he realises that starting to do the basics properly is far more urgent than `playing the right way`.

Michael O`Halloran looked quite good when he came on and was the only positive thing all day. If he can do that regularly, he could be an important player for the rest of the season.

Hopefully not another false dawn. Losing 3-0 to Airdrieonians is an absolute embarrassment. They’ve not won in the league since beating Rovers in the opening game. Never in a million years did I see us dropping points today. Before this game I would have said our squad was at least capable of mid-table. Today clearly shows we’ve badly in need of another 3 to 4 players. I hate to criticise him, especially being one our own but Matty Todd has shown he’s nowhere near good enough for this level. It’s disappointing because he looked levels above league one and I had no doubt he’d rise another level when we got promoted. He’s shown in glimpses what he can do but it’s nowhere near enough…

I’m beginning to feel the worst after this. Why managers persisted with the passy passy rubbish is beyond me. Hopefully we can get a few more in the door before next Saturday. We need all the help we can get.

Couple of central midfielders are the priority. Otoo n Hamilton struggled today, Chalmers and Todd am afraid don’t cut it at this level.

Tidser has stated that he will not change his style or beliefs, having said this in his most recent interview. He has also criticised the players, and rightly so, as they have been shielded for far too long and must now assume responsibility for their actions.

JM remains present today, both in attendance and on the bench. Surely, he must be contributing to the first team in some capacity at this stage?

MT made a subtle jab at Benny and Hammy, noting that our leaders on the pitch were the most quiet. Though he did not elaborate, swiftly shifting the conversation to another topic, it must be acknowledged that MT appears unwilling to take any p*sh

With "a few more in the door" who pays for all the bench warmers we`ll generate? No wonder our reserve team does so well. The " few more in the door" are just as likely to be the same standard or worse than we already have. Maybe the new management team have been working the guys too hard in training if they looked so jaded today. The team that beat Partick Thistle were flying and looked well capable of doing well in this league. Let`s just get a few more in the door and everything will be hunky dory. Oh aye.

A good fitba manager does not start with "his" view of how the game should be played - his System. And nothing changes. Aberdeen probably started with a very good system at the start of the season and won a load of games. But, other managers learned from it and ensured it could be halted. He has not reacted and they are in freefall.

It is about recognising the positives the players have and using them - until maybe you have the players you want. I remember one of our previous managers who died recently remembering the exact time when he had a squad he had fully signed. Only then did he feel the team was his but chances to achieve that now are limited.

MCPake stuck to a system and only changed players within that system. I think he acknowledged that was wrong but did little to change.

If our new manager is going to do exactly the same thing with limited knowledge of the capabilities of our players I only see disaster - like today.

In my lifetime, I cannot recall a time when we have won in a playoff. The unfortunate reality is that Tidser finds himself pressed for time; He cannot afford setbacks in the limited matches that remain. This makes the upcoming game against the teams around us all the more crucial.
Reviewing the goals, it is Todd that lost possession on three occasions when Airdrie scored. He has not been performing at his best for months. While I love Todd (for being local and a fan) , he needs to be dropped .
I believe the new owners will allocate funds for players to arrive in an effort to evade playoffs or relegation.
What stands out about Airdrie is their quality as a team. Having watched all the matches we`ve played against them this season, it is apparent they have been unlucky when they play us. I anticipate they will go on a run. Hopefully I’m wrong.
Tidser`s objective is to secure 3 points against the teams in close proximity to us. The matches against Hamilton, Morton, Raith, as well as Airdrie at home, are vital; we cannot afford to drop points against any of them.

Airdrie starting to get some of their injured players back they could well go on a run and start picking up points. Like us they are going to need to pick up some surprising away wins though.

I expect Queen’s Park to be poor for the remainder of the season now thier best player has left, airdrie should beat them next week if they want to have a chance.

We’ll need at least a point against raith or the pressure starts to mount on us.

If we play like we did yesterday nevermind wins we’ll not pick up many more points.

We`re talking about bringing players in but out squad is absolutely massive. There are players I forgot we still have on the books. Unless we can get some players out on loan I can`t see us getting more in.

If Tidser is determined to play out from the back then we`re in trouble. The last 1.5 years of McPake showed us these players can`t do it.

The end of last season when McPake ditched it out of desperation and had us blootering the ball up the pitch was the period we scraped enough points to keep us up.

Accies v Rovers on Tuesday night is a huge game for us, Accies win then we are cut adrift in 9th place.

I wasn’t at the game so cannot comment authoritatively. Having said that, from the comments it sounds like Tidser has learnt nothing from McPake’s time with us. Just when I thought things were changing for the better with a more direct approach playing to players’ strengths we get more of the tippy tappy stuff we’ve suffered the last few years. Hopefully Tidser is prepared to change things on the back of a pretty horrendous performance and result. If he isn’t, we’re destined for L1 and he’ll lose the goodwill of fans sharpish.

Sitting with a roomful of Airdrie fans at a burns supper. Their take is getting players , experienced players back, plus winning 5-1 last week has given them hope! they still think it’s to big a gap, but they also hope Pars are in free fall!
Rovers at East end had we won yesterday could have given us a great chance to move well up the table.

The manager doesn’t know the players yet. He doesn’t know his best team, formation or tactics to suit that yet. He’s been here two weeks. That takes time. Those who expect him (or anyone) to work miracles this early on really are setting themselves up for disappointment

He doesn`t have time. That`s the point. I remember where complacency lands ye. Straight to League 1. Stick to the basics to win games. The Brazil tactics can come at a later stage when we are not so pressed for points.

Only 1 objective this season, keep us in the league, however that happens. Next year would then be about building and progressing

Yep, Todd gave the ball away cheaply for two of their goals yesterday. He looks like he’s bulked up a bit to me, although I wonder how fit he is. I’d have Wotherspoon starting ahead of him all day.

As for the manager, he’s only in the door, has made one signing that I really like, youth, excitement, energy and we’ll find out how big a future but I like the ambition shown in signing Young. As far as tactics, formations then let’s give him a chance. Yesterday was awful, but let’s see what changes he makes, whether he can improve the team over the rest of the season and see where we end up. My impression from his interview was that he’ll make changes and that’s his job. He needs our backing now.

That was by far up there with some of the worst I have seen. Far too many individual performances well off the mark and I`d argue that nobody in the starting 11 got pass marks.

We played like a team who didn`t know the system we were being asked to play - certainly the system we were trying did not work. Our wingers (with exception of MOH) kept coming into central space to receive the ball, bringing everything narrow instead of staying wide and hitting the corner flags. MOH done better with this but struggled to lift his head and deliver a final ball, or simply ran into the defender eventually.

Todd at fault for at least 2/3 goals and general game play was a disaster yesterday - he should have been hooked far earlier.

Our midfield in general was posted missing far too often. It looked far too simple for Airdrie to get from one end of the park and in behind our defence.

A very bad day, which unfortunately fills me with dread for the rest of the season and where this is going to land us. Its knocked the stuffing out of the positives and the feeling of a turn around in previous weeks.

A derby win next week could do massive things for mood in the camp, but the performance needs to be 10x better than yesterday to gain the 3 pts.

Tobi`s one great strength is his kicking ability. He can pass the ball 30+ yards. When he fails to pick out a player, a 50:50 situation occurs well into the opponent`s half. Watching the game yesterday it seemed as if he was instructed not to kick long, though he did so late in the game.

IMO If a team presses our defense in our own half, the smart thing to do is have Tobi kick long.

The closing minutes yesterday were all a bit strange. It looked like the Pars would conjure up a consolation goal, but instead the ball got knocked past or over the Airdrie goal.

I can but hope the team does not play this badly in the remaining games.

we need to stop writing “that’s the worst pars team/performance I’ve ever seen” How many years can you keep writing the same thing without realising that’s the level the team are at just now?

Tidser was raging. The team obviously didn’t perform at the level he expected them to. The problem we’ve got is the team. Not enough players who can perform at this level regularly. What’s worrying is when I’ve seen Airdrie they were as good as Alloa and they’ve just absolutely pumped us.

We will most likely pick up more points than Airdrie before the end of the season but I doubt we’ll catch anyone above us. Relegation play offs is where we’ll end up. Should we be better than anyone in league 1? Yes but we still need to beat them. We’ve had relegation written all over us the entire season and I’m struggling not to see anything but relegation at the moment as I don’t think there’s enough bottle in this team to win a game like that.

I’ve still got underlying hope that I’ll be proved wrong but as a team, we’re just not good enough for the championship

I genuinely cant see how some people are letting the manager off the hook and just blaming the players.

That was the worst result of the season from a team that had only scored 4 goals at home yet scored 3 against us.

At a time we were starting to play reasonably well.

Anyone think Joe is a left back?

We played well for the first 10 to 15 minutes and had a couple of good chances which we didn`t take. After that it was every bit as bad as the away performances in the League this season under McPake I have witnessed.

It`s embarrassing the players coming over to clap the fans after a performance like that. What`s the point of it? Would some fans be hurt if the players didn`t show their appreciation for turning up? I`d rather they showed their appreciation by putting in a good performance.

Totally agree WE.

I’ll stay & applaud the team at the end of games, but they have to earn that respect.

Yesterday they didn’t.

This was such a miserable experience from start to finish.

Robert Louis Stevenson said it was better to travel hopefully than to arrive. I know what he was talking about.

A new signing, particularly one with the reputation of being a bit of a goal scorer, always gives you some encouragement, that the missing link has been found and suddenly a team of misfits and no-hopers will be transformed into a competitive, entertaining side.

But this particular ground for optimism tuned out to be the Albert Bartlett stadium (yet another new name for New Broomfield) and soon dissipated – no card machine for the car-park, poor phone signal so I had trouble downloading my ticket, a wait in the snow whilst the pitch was cleared, a further queue as the turnstiles didn’t work properly, insufficient staff at the catering outlet (at least to begin with), a further insistence on paying cash, and then the steak pie I asked for tuned out to be a scotch pie.

Add to that the emergency announcement being broadcast half a dozen times (which everyone ignored) and then a partial floodlight failure (not enough to get the match abandoned) and the whole non-game experience was disappointing.

As for on the pitch, if that had been a McPake team the manager would have been getting slaughtered in terms of team selection, formation, tactics, performance and result.

We started quite brightly, but again the final ball/finish let us down. I don’t blame KRH for shooting when through, but he might have squared, Todd delayed too long, and Otoo put in a poor delivery. Chalmers had a couple of shots but neither on target. Instead we gave the ball away cheaply, they moved it quickly and the ball was in our net. Three times. And we couldn’t even score a consolation despite Airdrie being content to let us have all the possession late on. All in all, a bit of a bad day out. At least the car-park was half-empty at full time.

There’s a lot that troubles me. I’m not convinced by the concept of a “new manager bounce”. Sometimes a change in fortunes are down to other factors. And sometimes things are too far gone for change to be immediately effective.

But it seems the big changes made are to revert to the 4-2-3-1 (but with inverted full-backs), the rehabilitation of O’Halloran and to a certain extent Wighton and Chalmers and the signing of Connor Young. As a declaration of faith, I have concerns. I note he ruled out more radical changes, such as hooking three players at half time, going long, and putting Airdrie under pressure. Such a statement of intent may have been received more positively.

Is his insistence on “sticking to his principals” admirable bravery or a pig-headed obstinance? (Presumably this attitude was known when he was recruited).

Was the brief flowering under McLaughlan just a temporary blip in extenuating circumstances or a function of a different philosophy?

The players seem good enough on occasion ...

The players seem good enough on occasion – why do these occasions not happen more often and what can the manager do about it? It seems to me that asking players not to make mistakes is over-simplistic.

For a honeymoon, that was very brief. If we’d won, we might have knocked the stuffing out of Airdrie and we’d be looking upwards. Now we don’t know where to look.

We have a terrible record in the playoffs and the majority of the squad already know they will be leaving regardless.

That’s a huge worry!

`IMO If a team presses our defense in our own half, the smart thing to do is have Tobi kick long`

That should be the entire point of short play out the back. Let`s leave the opposition in doubt. Don`t press us? Fine we`ll just play out to half way under no pressure. Press us? We`ll get you to overcommit and play it long where you`ll be under resourced to deal with it.

There`s an art to it on when to make the long pass, but you absolutely need that option.
