Ngwenya and Comrie doubtful for Saturday.
Topic Originator: Ahoy!Ahoy!
Date:   Fri 21 Feb 06:44

This would be a huge concern if they are both ruled out.

Tidser has confirmed Ngwenyas’ hamstring is tight and Comrie is doubtful.

Who’s the replacements?

That’s not good news. I suppose Otoo is the obvious LB replacement and Hamilton could easily play RB

Chalmers at left back is a no for me. I would move Otoo in there and maybe Rivaldo in midfield with Hamilton and Oakley-Booth if up to speed.

Right back- It would have to be O`Halloran out of what we have at the club right now.

Got Keith Bray coming in the summer at right back but we really need to sign a left back. Ngwenya has missed quite a few games this season with injury. He needs competition too. I`m not that convinced about him defensively.

I assumed you`d listened to the manager`s pre-match interview, but he doesn`t name these players as being doubtful. Is this the sort of inside information you should be posting on here? I`m not trying to be a smartass or over dramatic, but someone at Queens Park could see this and use it to their club`s advantage.

There`s a reason why managers only publicise their team selection an hour before kick off and probably wouldn`t even do that then if the rules didn`t oblige them to do so.

No idea who queens have on the wings? If they are fast we’ll need to try and match that. Maybe one of the new players has a decent enough all round game they can slot in can slot for a week.

I guess attack might be the best form of defence!

Hopefully we are not missing these guys all week, biggest week of our season.

Apologies to Ahoy! Ahoy! I watched the manager`s video interview and there was no mention of either Comrie or Ngwenya being doubtful, unless I fell asleep and missed it. Normally, the write up pn COWS is exactly what the manager has said.

I would class my post as a gentle reprimand rather than a "jump down his throat", P. 🙂

There`s a lot of positive stuff from MT on COWS about the players starting to understand the way he wants them to play, squad rotation, first shut-out since November etc. He isn`t ruling out more player movement before the loan window closes.

need to bring in one defender if not two whether its a loan or a free agent from somewhere, cannot go the rest of the season with the lack of defensive options/cover.

Thanks for clarifying, P. I wouldn`t be too hard on Dandy. He reacted to my post, which he assumed to be accurate, as I did. The only explanation I can think of is that the video clip I watched, where Tidser was talking to Jordan, was cut short and the full interview went up in written form. Very unusual, if that`s the case.

That`s an interesting point because when discussing the possibility of player movement in the last week of the loan window MT said ``starting next week there will maybe be a bit of movement with one or two of them. They need games they need to play. We’ll see.”

We have had plenty of central defensive cover, in terms of fullbacks, that`s certainly not the case. Ngwenya is our decent option at left back and he`s picked up a number of injuries this season. Moving Otoo out there weakens the midfield and I don't think he plays particularly well there either. Comrie is pretty dependable, but once again he goes out and we`re in trouble.

Definitely need to bring in some sort of cover there, whether that`s a loan player from the premiership or a an eligible free agent.

One thing I have noticed since Tidser came in……very little of the secret squirrel stuff that was prevalent under McPake. Hardly a week went by with him saying that there were no new injury worries then come Saturday there was always someone who never made the team/squad….the Thursday/Friday injury curse.

Tidser seems much more honest about the injury situation. Cue someone ruled out tomorrow that we were not expecting…..!

What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

Didn`t think of freebies. Hopefully a bit of left back competition for the defender.

Would rather somebody in to compete with McCann than a centre forward for the striker.

Absolute state of this

And here`s the reason I got into an "absolute state." Please find the point where the manager identifies Ngwenya and Comrie as doubtful for today`s game.
https://youtu.be/68_Km5DR26k?si=NGlOANnpCyo7-4Vz

I made an honest mistake, for which I immediately apologised and unwittingly dragged Dandy Warhol into it. Perhaps I should also have scoured COWS to ensure that the written report of the interview didn`t contain additional information, but it never occurred to me. You live and learn, eh?

Dandy and I weren`t the only ones "jumping down someone`s throat." 🙄
