I hate to say it but we are in free fall. The only thing thats going to stop us being relegated is Airdrie and Hamilton not winning. If they string a few results together we are fecked. Never been so depressed watching the pars.

That disgusting mess tonight better result in board room resignations and the sacking of that clown shoe manager.

I hope not, but it’s looking tough. The only goal left this season is to avoid relegation, what a sad state of affairs. We need to stay up - no question- then we need a massive clear out/rebuild for next year as many of the present employees are not worthy of wearing the badge

We will absolutely be relegated unless Tidser is removed asap. I still believe Lanza John could keep us up if given enough time to turn it around.

It’s going to be closer than I thought it would be but I still reckon Airdrie will be relegated outright.

I can’t see us overcoming Hamilton though, done deal for me if they beat
Morton tomorrow.

Then the playoffs, yeah we could be in a fair bit of bother.

I still can’t see past us finishing 10th.

Unless Tidser goes I don’t see anything changing, and I struggle to see where we are going to pick up points.

Airdrie have home games against Morton and Partick which they will fancy their chances, win one and pick up a point in the other and they’re 3 behind us at least before we meet.

There tails will be for Livi tomorrow knowing they can close the gap too.

Last night`s performance was stomach-churningly poor. A team totally bereft of confidence. Chilokoa-Mullen and Comrie are the only players entitled to be pleased with their contributions. Raith were no great shakes but won in a canter.

It`s hard to see where our next win is coming from. Hamilton and Airdrie will be greatly encouraged by that result and our performance. I`m not confident we can finish above both. If we finish 9th, we must have a chance in the playoffs as Stenny, Cove, and Alloa are no great shakes, but our record in playoffs gives me the fear.

I`ve been telling myself that my family and health are far more important than the performances and results of my local football team, but I can`t shake the deep gloom that`s enveloping me and the dread that it`s going to get worse.....

I wonder if Tidser or the new owners have sat down with the players and said there will be big changes in the summer? As not a single player is playing like their full time career depends on it.

Even those who are likely to be here next season appear to have largely downed tools.

This reeks of player power to me.

I have made peace with our impending relegation. Anything else is a bonus. I had planned being away next weekend with family even though it was a home game, but will attend the rearranged game.
I am not fussed anymore as there is nothing I can do to change the situation, so I am sitting back and relaxing. Just like the first team.

Has any manager ever quit before. Especially at a small club where they won`t be on a huge wage. He has bills to pay.

I could see a rich Mourihno type quitting, buy not a manager of a small club like us.

He`s here until told otherwise. If we go down, I fancy he`ll get the chance to bring us back up. If we somehow avoid the drop we`ll be able to wave goodbye to some of the useless gits out of contract, get new players in and fix that bloody pitch.

What else explains the lack of movement in the team? Are the players coming off the park having given everything? Not a chance. They have downed tools.

Players have 100 percent downed tools. We don’t look remotely like a team trying to win a game of football.

Airdrie today for example have had 7 shots and 4 on target, scored 2.

That’s a team trying to win games.

To be fair he has a point. The last 2 big games and we have laid down and offered little to get ourselves back in the game. It`s either the players aren`t good enough or they clearly aren`t giving 100 percent.

Airdrie were decent today.

A deflected Muirhead free kick which Sent the keeper the wrong way, a set piece which Livi are decent from and a cut back.

Looked good going forward, really good movement within their box midfield system but in the same sentence they look shaky defensively in the wide areas.

I don`t understand why players `down tools`. Surely they`d be thinking about their next club so would want to try as hard as possible to place themselves as an attractive proposition in the shop window.

Scouts from other teams won`t be impressed by what they are seeing so instead of another championship team offering them a contract, it`ll be a lower league team that picks them up, if anybody wants them at all.

Regardless if the players are, or aren’t good enough, there has been a clear “downing of tools” in the last month/6 weeks. Things have evidently been turgid most of the season but you cannot seriously suggest there hasn’t been a noticeable change in recent weeks regarding application???

The performances in the last 2 games weren`t as poor as they were earlier in the season, they were worse than that

Poor players + some effort = poor performances

Poor players + no effort + poor man management = the abomination that we have witnessed the last 2 weeks

Wee eck the players defo aren’t good enough at this level but at least in some games we were competitive and created chances (although not good enough to take them and sustain a good level in games)

Now they have also downed tools we are not competitive at all anywhere on the park.

Surely even you can see the drop off between earlier in the season and last night?

Too many new faces all at once, some clearly not good enough + change of system + crisis in confidence + increase in pressure.

I think it`s a nice, easy narrative to say they`ve downed tools but I don`t believe it. I think it`s a combination of things. Anyone successful at sport to any degree is naturally competitive and has pride in themselves.

Well, what`s that down to - the players or the change in manager? Surely the club haven`t disincentivised the players by telling those whose contracts are up that they will not be re-signed? Even if they have, how are these players going to attract other offers by downing tools?

We also have the loanees. Won`t their owner clubs be monitoring their form with us and won`t the players want to impress to make progress when they return? `Downing tools` is just one of these easy phrases which can mask lots of issues which might affect different players in different ways.

They have 100 percent downed tools and anyone who says they haven’t are clearly in denial.

We have a squad that should be doing a lot better than we are and since Tidser has joined we have had our 13 point lead over Airdrie reduced to 7.

So many more ups and downs to be had over the last few games but this squad needs re-energised and some belief installed back into them.

Where was mccanns legendary workrate last night? Who was showing for it in midfield and on the wings? Who was working their socks off and closing players down and getting tackles in? Who was shouting, organising and trying to lift the team and help others through the game? On the 2nd goal why isn’t someone taking charge of the situation and they can argue about it later?

They have chucked it, this isn’t just a loss of form or not being good enough this is worse.

Me either. These player’s aren’t very good.

Let’s takeaway our inability to control the ball or make a pass. 1st goal comes from Bene lacking pace which he can’t do anything about and our keeper coming out like a mad man. 2nd goal McCann is sleeping at the back.

None of these things are on the manager, these are individual mistakes by players. Neither of which are from downing tools.

Is this `downing of tools` unanimous? Is it actually discussed or does it just happen? I can`t imagine somebody like Hammy accepting it. Senior pros like Bene, Kane, Comrie and Wotherspoon looked like they were frustrated last night rather than players who had thrown in the towel.

I don’t think they have consciousness downed tools, I think they are just demoralised and frustrated being asked to play in a way that is alien and ill suited to them. Some of them are barely good enough to play at this level regardless of tactics but as a group I believe they would be happier and more effective playing a more direct game of football rather than trying to become some version of Barca or Man City reimagined in a lunatics nightmare.

But only the players themselves can change it with better performances. personally I wouldn`t say it`s completely a lack of effort. I`d say it`s a lack of ability we have been mince since the start of pre season. That being said the last 2 performances have been by far the worst this season potentially players have lost belief and mixed with the lack of ability at this level could be why we were so poor last 2 games.

Despite, how bad the entertainment is, now is the time when we really need to be searching for positives and getting behind the team. This is the point when we actually need a big support encouraging them.

Okay Eck I`ll play along. For the whole season I`ve said this squad lacks the required ability for this level. As I`ve already said the last 2 performances have probably been up there with the worst I`ve seen from a team against their rivals. We know that Mullen is the only one who is playing below his ability. My question is regardless of the ability of this lot, why couldn`t these guys even raise their game for a match v Raith and Falkirk? Lack of ability will be a factor but the effort wasn`t there either.

It`s easy to still run about a lot but into blind alleys. We need players to take responsibility by showing for the ball.
We have no ball carriers and the passing is backwards and sideways all the time. It would be good to see someone take on a man in the midfield and forward areas. We are so easy to defend against as nobody commits defenders or plays a forward thinking pass.Kane plays a lot of the game with his back to goal without the required runners going beyond him and we don`t have any width either.

You’ve literally spent all season saying they are good enough and tried twisting everyone’s words to suite your own narrative. I actually don’t know what you’re trying to achieve here 🤷🏻‍♂️ league table and that form book you were bumping your gums about recently certainly showing a different picture now eh!

I certainly don’t agree with everything Berkey says but at least he says what he thinks.

And he’s 100% right about the last few performances.

Kettlewell quit Motherwell earlier this season. It does happen, it actually happens semi regularly, clubs just paint it as mutual termination.

I’ve resigned myself to the fact we are playing League 1 football next season. The Hamilton game was the point where I thought we were in trouble but after watching the performances since then, you can see it.

I’ve been watching football for nearly 40 years now, and you start seeing tell tail signs through seeing many teams and squads during this time, also having been involved at lower SPFL levels, I have an idea of what is probably going on behind the scenes, so it paints it’s own picture and I think I can see it.

Can a miracle happen?? It can, of course it could, but the likelihood is it will not. Even if the club decide to act and sack Tider and put LJ back in place, it may not work and there will also be players in the dressing room that probably won’t care as the damage and division is already done.

We are pretty slow in transition. Any rare chance of a counter attack on Friday quickly turned into a 2 v 4 situation. Raith weren`t any great shakes either but when they did go forward it was in greater numbers and at pace.
When we did force a corner our first two didn`t get past the first man either.

Has any manager ever quit before. Especially at a small club where they won`t be on a huge wage. He has bills to pay.

An interesting post, BB, and one I’m inclined to side with, unfortunately.

`You’ve literally spent all season saying they are good enough and tried twisting everyone’s words to suite your own narrative. I actually don’t know what you’re trying to achieve here 🤷🏻‍♂️ league table and that form book you were bumping your gums about recently certainly showing a different picture now eh!

I actually wonder if you’d sit in a moldy, leaking, burning building and argue with ever about whether they should be phoning the fire brigade because the buildings landlord has been looking after the building for years now so must know what they’re doing

I certainly don’t agree with everything Berkey says but at least he says what he thinks.

And he’s 100% right about the last few performances.`

Well, thanks for the kind words. My overriding take is that we fans never have enough facts to be able to apportion blame or identify the true causes of our problems. It`s frustrating but that`s how football clubs work unfortunately.

I didn`t start all this stuff about form tables. Somebody raised it last week to show that our current form wasn`t as bad as our league position would suggest. Ever since I can remember these tables have appeared in the media to help punters with their pools coupons or flutters on the football. It`s hardly a surprise that they can change from week to week.

Great analogy re the burning building. the question is - who is the fire brigade in this situation? As for Berkey `saying what he thinks` - what do you think the rest of us are saying? What somebody else thinks?
