Can the man who has presided over two years of million pound losses and appointed McPake and Tidser ( and cost the owners a pretty penny in compensation ) please leave too ?

Can you tell us exactly what David Cook`s job description is? Without that we don`t know what his responsibilities are.

Agree everything about from mcpake. He was shat on by the Germans and didn’t get backed properly. Albeit he wasted it on some poor signings too, no way was he backed properly this window or last summer after promotion

as per club website he is chairman and CEO

Immediately prior to that he held a number of roles including Senior Sponsorship Manager at Etihad Airways; Business Development Manager at Celtic FC; and International Business Development Manager at Everton FC.

So the buck stops with……The Chairman/CEO…

What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

That doesn`t tell us what his specific responsibilities are.

Tidser`s appointment was supported by data analysis apparently. Do you think the owners should sack themselves?

They`ll know what role Cook played in getting Tidser in, if it was his idea and he lied, or at least misled, in that interview then his coat will be on a shoogly peg as well. If it was all up to them, as claimed, then it`s not a very good advert for their analytics.

Either way, I don`t think it bodes well for the future. Frying pans and fire spring to mind.

They have to get the next one right.

Interested to know what you think a chairman of a football club should be judged on wee eck and what his responsibilities would be?

To me it`s pretty simple in all key metrics cook has overseen complete and utter failings I.e. losses, first team performance, fan engagement

He has been the one constant over the past few years and although he may have had his hands tied with the Germans he has shown nothing to be deserving of his title during or since that time. A quiet exit in the summer should suffice. Cheerio.

Well, I would like to know what exactly the previous and current owners expected of their CEO. In private companies it`s quite common for the CEO to be responsible for carrying out the policy of the owners. He`s their eyes and ears on a daily basis and will be reporting to them on a regular basis. I think DC confirmed this is what happens with James Bord. No doubt he will have some latitude to make decisions on his own but I would imagine anything involving major financial commitment would be referred to the owners. For example, it was the German owners who froze McPake`s players` budget, not David Cook.

The new owners would have had an ideal opportunity to replace him when they took over but they didn`t. This would have been after their lawyers and accountants had been over the club`s books and records with a fine tooth comb as part of their due diligence exercise. Presumably nothing they saw reflected badly on him.

All this has been discussed before on here but certain posters seem to be engaged in a witch hunt against him and have closed minds on the subject.

Honestly do you just try and cause arguments on every post? You’re acting dumb regarding his job role to cause an issue.

You know fine well that the chairman/ceo of a football club runs the business and the owners just provide them the funds to do so.

No, I don`t know that and you don`t know what I think. What exactly are you doing if you`re not causing an argument? Do you just post on here expecting everyone to agree with you?

In your world is there no limit to the funds owners will provide a CEO with?

Hardly a witch hunt is it ? The guy has lost millions of pounds with the overall match day experience he kept on harping on about in the earlier days on a decline. The product on the park has been a shambles for years the new training facility which lets be honest is an astro with a few cabins was a disaster from start with no real finishing line in sight. The park at eep is the worst I can remember. He hasn`t exactly made inroads to turn around our fortunes.

Oh he`s responsible for the state of the pitch too! It`s pretty obvious you have paid no attention to my post. How do you rationalise the fact that the new owners kept him on after carrying out due diligence?

The owners set a CEO a budget of their money, the CEO uses that budget to bring success to a business - if the owners have to keep piling money in to cover extreme losses, then the CEO is failing in their job.

He’s overseen well over £2M in losses in his tenure, with a supposed freeze on signings as you claim, and some of the worst footballing decisions seen since the Masterton/Yorkston era.

I certainly don’t expect everyone to agree with me, but the blind loyalty of some towards the club and how its ran is mental!

I`m not showing blind loyalty to anyone. I`m trying to make sense of what`s happened. I don`t actually know what the budgets were for the last two years but neither do you. Companies do sometimes budget for losses. I wouldn`t hold the CEO responsible for what happens on the playing field though.

Accusing somebody on a football forum of looking for an argument just because they raise questions about someone else`s views is simply arrogant. If you question the consensus on here you`re immediately shouted down. Folk complain about not having enough facts but I think hey actually like it because then they can just make stuff up to suit their point of view.

Of course, the groundsmen are responsible for the pitch, but he is responsible for their performance, as well as the performance of every other DAFC employee.

With regard to your other question, I’d suggest that maybe they felt that having some continuity would be wise, allowing them time to do their own assessment?

Can we put those pitchforks down for 2 minutes, please!?

The only ones who can make a decision about Cook`s employment are the club owners. No one on here has demonstrated any knowledge of the goals they set out for him.

Save your outrage for Gary Montignani - as part of his coordinator role, he personally syphons the good bits of meat out of the steak bridie`s to make those little ones you get at half time in hospitality!

I’d like Cook to go as well, don’t think he’s really brought anything of note to the club and from those I know that volunteer for the club who’ve had dealings with him, I’ve not heard a positive review.

Cook is definitely a bad apple in the tree imo…. Iv heard the way he treats staff and volunteers is unacceptable..
However I sure the new owners will address this at the end of the season and get rid of the old deadwood from the boardroom.

I am no longer involved as a volunteer or with DADSC, but that was solely due to age and health - too much of the former and not enough of the latter. :(

What I can say is that when I was a volunteer, and in my time as Secretary of DADSC, David Cook always treated me courteously, with respect, and (as far as I know) honestly. If other people feel they have had different experiences, I cannot comment.
