Ayr not in great form and we’re fragile at best, first goal will be huge.

I hope Connor is ok 👍. Was it a bad tackle or a pitch related stumble?

I thought we would do the basics better.
No pressure on Ayr CH’s too easy for them. Throw ins ffs. We are as well giving Ayr the throw ins as we give possession straight back to them almost every time, so frustrating.
Yeboah constantly giving fouls away….about four since he came on..

Otoo should have done better but for the previous 5 minutes the referee was giving soft foul after soft foul. Typical it took a massive deflection too, when your luck is out then your luck is out.
Don`t know if it was the break, the sub or the change in weather but since Young went off and the rain abated we`ve looked second best. Particularly annoying when we started OK. Just can`t see where the next goal will come from. Corners poor, no movement at throw ins, Kane ploughing a lone furrow.
Oakley-Booth did one good thing, getting by his man and putting s low cross in, but otherwise has been poor again. Yeboah just isn`t a player. Not sure what we`re doing with Chalmers back there but he`s not been terrible. McCann not doing much, wonder if Stevens will come on for him at some point.

he`s at least somewhat fit so let`s get him on and see if he can lift the other players.
Ayr are Ayr, they`re not Liverpool. So let`s get stuck in about them and not just equalise but f`kn win.
Is Lennon a touchline manager or another that sits on his seat all the time? From what i remember he`s constantly on the touchline shouting instructions.

Performances are going to be poor until the end of the season, wasn’t expecting a new manager bounce, players haven’t played anywhere near a level this season to think that was even possible.
Pitch today was awful, weather wasn’t great and Ayr were better under the conditions but what hope do you have when you have Hamilton giving the ball away all the time, Bene with the suicide pass that killed the game.
Wanyama was poor when he came on and that sending off is going to sting.
The next two games will determine our fate. We know a win on Wednesday gets us out the playoffs and another at Hamilton makes the picture look much better. That’s what we have to really focus on.

Our goal difference is still almost 10 better than Hamilton. Will Wanyama`s red card be 1 or 3 games suspension. It may be greedy but we need the owners to get in some short term strikers from the out of contract players in the hope that one of them pays off.

I didn`t expect to win today, Lennon and a Wanyama who hasn`t played competitively since July doesn`t cure the chronic lack of creativity or the continuous stupid mistakes made by senior pros in this side.

Today might actually have been worse than under Tidser. Just shows it wasn’t Tidser, it was the players he inherited.
Now we have the debacle of a clearly unfit and heavy player gracing the middle of the park for us…..what could go right? Lennon playing and chalmers and brining yeboah on are already making me question what he’s doing.
What’s next? Hartson up front against livi.
Only good thing about the last few weeks is I think we’ll have more chance to stay up in the playoffs under Lennon. It’s a mammoth task in the summer regardless I wouldn’t keep any of them, bunch of losers.

Ironically he’s an utter mouse and a shitebag when it comes to a relegation fight. Still makes me laugh that people claimed he was the best captain we’ve had since norrie because of the league 1 season. For his second violent offence he should be looking at jail time and it’s an embarrassment that we still let him lead the team out.

Just got home. That was bleak. Lennon will be shocked at how bad we are and what he has to work with. Made more difficult by what looked like two season ending injuries to Young and Oakley Booth. After the highs and optimism of this week that was a sobering drive home.
Can only hope Lennon manages to cobble together a side out of that squad that is capable of winning a few games. We need to beat Hamilton, Airdrie and Queen’s Park to get 8th. If he keeps us up it is a massive achievement because that squad is dug meat.

That’s awful da no 1. This season has been the worst in my living memory and I include the years we went down. So many times as fans we’ve been let down this season when expecting better.
As fans we learned a lot from today too, we might as well have kept Tidser until the summer, the results will have been the same and we’d be less of a circus.
It isn’t just a case of good management improving these players. They all need to go.

Dunfermline Athletic manager Neil Lennon: "I`m disappointed with our lack of goal threat, our lack of belief and quality in the final third. That`s something we have to improve on as that`s five games out of six in which we haven`t scored.
"I know we`ve got a mountain of work to do but that`s why I`m here. There`s a fragility at the minute that we need to change.
"Victor (Wanyama) is in there with his head down. We knew he would be rusty but we wanted to give him some minutes. He slipped, didn`t he? You can tell he needs work."
Sums it up, hope it`s not too late for him to make a difference
Wanyama gave the ball away every time he got it and that led to his red card, is he going to get up to speed in time to save us?

Re: Wanyama, I get the clamour to play him but the club should probably have had him in training for a few more weeks before announcing anything. As someone else said, he looked like a competition winner today.
The midfield was so poor today. Lennon could have taken Hamilton and Oakley-Boothe off at halftime without any complaints. Ayr won so many uncontested headers in there, Hamilton kept misjudging passes, Otoo should have done better at their first, and Oakley-Booth seems to have zero fight or ability to tackle. An empty carrier bag blowing in the wind would have been as effective.
There were few positives today. I thought the much maligned Joe Chalmers had a good game today and Connor Young looked sharp until his injury, I really hope it`s not serious. The size of the away crowd was impressive given the weather, distance, and how terrible we`ve been.
I`d imagine Stevens will come back in on Tuesday as the pitch in wide areas today would have made it very difficult for him. Fogarty hopefully too for Bene.

Think in the first 30 minutes or so we were better than we had been under Tidser and we just about shaded the opening spell. The Young injury killed all momentum we had though which was then compounded by bringing Yeboah on rather than Stevejs or even Cooper. The first goal was always going to be vital and Otoo should have done better but again luck was not on our side - plenty of times the ref blew for slight contact but that time he didn`t, then when the ball was half cleared the shot took a big deflection.
Ayr were then the better side but we starter to get a bit of joy down our left a few times before Benedictus had a shocker and set up the second goal. That was game over and the red card (a stonewall variety) and the third goal (which I didn`t see, I was heading to the car by then) were largely irrelevant. I don`t think Wanyama would have come on today but when Oakley-Booth pulled up there wasn`t much choice. Although we could have just played with ten for all the good both Oakley-Booth and Wanyama did today.
Only slight positives were that Chalmers did well in an unusual position for him, Chilokoa-Mullen was good at progressing the ball and striding out from the back and Raymond added a bit of pace when he came on. Young showed flashes before his injury but is wasted out wide - get him between the 18 yard lines. Kane tried hard but was too isolated, Hamilton did well as a stopper but then the lack of movement ahead of him meant he all too often attempted a world cup pass because there was nothing else on and Oluwayemi couldn`t do anything about the two goals I saw. Everyone else was pretty poor to dreadful.

My ParsTV feed yesterday buffered a bit - almost certainly due to local issues (and nothing to do with ParsTV) who did well to get a stream out under challenging circumstances. I didn’t see the third goal as I was buffering at the time. It is also not the same as watching live .However given those caveats from what I did see - I pretty much agree with Kelty’s summing up. I agree that Chalmers was one of our better players and wonder if some of his perpetual critics were watching the same game. Mullen once again was very good. However I felt Hammy had a very poor game as I lost count of misplaced passes. For the first 25mins until Young’s injury we were on top (albeit still creating little up front). Our work rate and pressing was very much better to start with although this dropped off a bit later. Would love to know what the US fitness expert’s opinion was. We also were looking to get the ball forward quicker when possible rather than ponderous sideways tappy tappy stuff from the back. Tobi clearly had been given license to clear long. Once again our big problem was lack of creativity in the final third. I also think the awful conditions yesterday didn’t help. We had Cooper and Stevens on the bench and Tod was not in the squad. I was disappointed not to see Cooper starting and no Tod on the bench and Wotherspoon was unfortunately injured. Bringing on Yeboah was baffling. IMO he weakened us as he spent most of his time giving away fouls or running into people and falling over to try to win a foul. Young was out right - why not rather bring on Stevens? With his dribbling he may have caused problems for defenders on that slippy surface. Without service Kane didn’t really get into the game much. I’d like to see the build up to the first goal again. Otoo seemed to get there first and then fall instead of clearing. Not sure if he was fouled or slipped. The second goal was obviously a terrible error from Benedictus. I didn’t see the third goal so can’t comment. I agree with others that Benedictus appears to have lost pace and seems quite heavy. I would try Fogarty with Mullen going forward. Was shocked at how unfit Wanyama was. One positive is we didn’t give up when down to 10 men and 2-0 down. We also need to recognise we were playing one of the three best teams in the league away from home on a very difficult surface following all the rain. Livi will be a tough game but Hamilton are also struggling and we are at home. That for me is a crunch game for us. It is important that those that can go do as our crowd could play a positive role. Very disappointing yesterday - yes, but there still were some positives despite the score line. Thought Raymond did well when he came on. Shame about Young’s injury but the key will be whether we can improve in the final third as well as not gifting silly goals. We need to play some of our more creative players rather than Yeboah.

Tobi was getting it up the pitch as were the defence but the problem was the Ayr centre halves won every header unchallenged for 90 mins.

I pretty much agree with the manager`s post match comments.
We had a poor final third at the start of this season. And now we are having a poor final third at the end of this season.
IMO We need to treat every remaining game like a must win cup tie. Trying to cautiously accumulate a few points won`t work.

I don’t think that was as bad overall as Hamilton, away, although in some ways it was worse.
Another bad journey – Ayr is just so far away (unless you live in Ayrshire, I guess) and East Kilbride was as busy as I’ve ever seen it – maybe something to do with the rain. I wonder how much the absence of a cash gate discourages people from traveling – it’s a bit of a risk buying a ticket in advance if you are going to miss part of the game by arriving late. Of course it’s an even bigger risk arriving on time as then you might have to sit through the entire 90 minutes…
There seemed to be more Pars fans than usual – some of whom arrived late – the car park was busy (and flooded) and there were queues, so I was a bit wet when I go there, and no time to get a pie, which would have undoubtedly have been the highlight (are they still “Killie” pies, albeit rebranded?)
I think we were all excited to see Lennon’s first game, and the first appearance of Wanyama. It looked like a 3-4-3 - I certainly didn’t expect Chalmers at LCB, but he did OK, I thought. I assume NL knows him from his time at Celtic. Good to see Young get a start – he is a proven goalscorer but he did completely fluff his big chance. People are saying he was clipped. The challenge which injured him seem quite innocuous, but having been the slightly better of the two teams up to that point we fell out of it after that. No’ Halloran and no Rivaldo on the bench. Are they injured or not thought good enough?
We were getting the ball forward faster, but we didn’t seem to compete for either the first or the second ball. It’s almost as if the players have been through so many managers and so many different ideas that they have forgotten how to play.
I thought Otoo was eased off the ball a bit easily for their first, although it was luck that the ball broke for the forward. Bene might have been a touch slow with the block – a fraction of a second can make all the difference.
It was ironic that the goal I’ve been expecting to concede from faffing about at the back finally happened when we had appeared to have finally ditched that philosophy. Interesting that Tobi’s first reaction was to console his skipper (and about JCM’s third reaction).
The third looked a little easy as well, but I guess it didn’t really matter by then.
At the other end we had very little to show –a flick from Kane, Young’s miskick and subsequent Otoo chance which he should really have got on target, Chalmers very long range effort (well over the bar but still about as close as he’s come) and a looping header from Kane that my granny could have saved. I see the late opening for Kane disappeared as soon as it arrived before he got a chance to take a shot.

Wanyama’s contribution was farcical. He is currently vying with Noel Whelan for the most disappointing debut ever (was it Derek Matthew who came on as sub for his debut down at Stranraer, got sent off immediately and was never seen again?). I seem to remember ex-Don Joe Smith being touted as a big signing when we got him in 1983 – although “big” referred more to the size of his shorts – I wasn’t convinced of his fitness.
I forgot Tash was playing at one point – an interesting decision to replace him with Raymond by moving Otoo into the middle – at least Raymond was quite bright going forward, although not great delivery (but we don’t have players who seem to be able to get on the end of crosses).
Bene going up front was an interesting if brief experiment before he had to come back as we switched to 4-3-2. Cooper didn’t do much I thought although NL talked him up – I guess he’s going to have to feature on Wednesday.
To date the new owners appear to have spent a shed-load of money on a bad managerial appointment and some poor players. I’m not sure I’d be rushing to invest in their product. At least Lennon comes over more as a pragmatic manager who’s been round the block a few times.

I know we’re going with Lenny for the remainder of the season and the squad although large is very poor at this level but in putting wanyama on the park it indeed was farcical and makes you really question his judgement already.
Would he have put a player with wanyama’s fitness on the park at hibs the last time he managed at this level? And then he laughs about it in the post match interview.
Is he actually taking this job seriously? His mouth isn’t saying the same things as his actions.

IMO I doubt he’s got any intention of staying either way.
It took compelling* reasons (read loads of moola) to convince him to come for 7/9 games. He can’t lose only we can.

I think if we stay up Lennon is pretty much guaranteed the job.
Wanyama is only here for whatever games he can play in, which by the looks of it won’t be many. He’ll be away the second the full time whistle blows at Cappielow.

It`s strange though re: Wanyama.
If he was off the pace then it would have surely shown up in training against fellow professionals and it`s not like it was a forced hand where we didn`t have anyone and/or a scenario of throwing on a forward or `luxury` player knowing they weren`t fully fit but hoping for one bit of magic for the last ten minutes or to try and nick a goal.
Lennon also knows the league plus centre mid was his own position and he wouln`t underestimate it `only` being the Championship. And it wouldn`t be a PR stunt signing to try and shift tickets and shirt sales given our position, wouldn`t imagine that would be tolerated either.
I joked at the time hoping it wouldn`t be a Garry O`Connor or Jorge Cadette scenario at Morton / Partick but the initial vibes are not good!
