Really hoping that we will play a lot less tentatively tonight given that the pressure is now off. However, it could also end up being a dull 0-0 draw with neither side willing to take any risks.

There are roadworks close to the stadium, travelling fans may want to leave a bit earlier.

Why would neither side want to take any risks with both teams effectively nothing to play for?

It’s a pity the game isn’t on the telly the night so the club could do another “Fans in the Purvis Suite night”. That was a Morton away game too.

Cooper starting is interesting as I think he’s a decent player. Hope Todd gets game time.

Hope Cooper shows up well tonight.

Glad Cooper and Chalmers start tbh. As I feel NL needs to have a good look at both, as they are out of contact.

Cooper certainly has been unfortunate, as his positioning has been good, but a lack of game time.

Chalmers, is a player who gets pelters, but is a player I like-NL needs to see him, possibly his lack of pace will do for him, but he has a sweet foot, and he rarely makes mistakes.

It`s more important to give these guys a run out, same for Wanyama to a lesser extent.

Pretty much all of that team apart from two or three are the cause of such a bad season. Take comfort in that this is a meaningless game and that hopefully we never see the majority of this squad again. Easily one of the worst I’ve ever seen for Dunfermline. Easily!!

Yes, unfortunately they do seem to find new ways to disappoint the fans. Every time we begin to think we are emerging from mediocrity, we fall back into it. I remember the last time I was at Cappielow, I felt like asking for my entrance money back at half time. And as I say that Falkirk score.

Michael Stewart is gushing all over Falkirk. It`s a bit nauseating to say the least.

I reckon the majority of them know they’re out the door soon. They’ve known for some time and somehow Lennon has squeezed a couple of results out of them. Their time is up here and they’re going out with a whimper. No surprises. This summer will be fascinating.

If Wanyama come back on it’s only he must have a clause in his contract to play one game…he’s so unfit….Chalmers is brutal and the 9 left on that pitch look like the don’t care which has happened all season.

Get Wanyama, Otoo, Boothe, Ngwenya, and Chalmers off. Absolutely chronic. A 17 year old in goals and we haven`t once tested him. Just shoot! Get the ball central and shoot and make sure it is at least on target! I hate this team. They are absolutely dire.

Tonight has to be the end of Chalmers, Wanyama and Oakley-Boothe.

Otoo, KRH, JCM, Kane will all be here next season and have a chance with better players around them, but the first 2 certainly need to improve.

That leaves Cooper, Bene, Ngenwa with the jury out on. Would like to keep Tobi but wouldn`t surprise me if he`s not back.

Got to agree Row Zz rough as it sounds, I really dislike the majority of the wasters on the pitch. They are mentally a good bit slower than the bang average Morton players.

I could list them but really can’t be arsed anymore. I just hope NL stays and gets what he can punted over the summer.

Now the sun is away, sitting freezing wondering why people are surprised at this. Wanyama is just and embarrassment, an absolute embarrassment…..but as is the whole squad.

Chalmers keeps letting us down, and gets another chance. Mis-controls the ball for the 1st then leaves the boot up for the penalty. Yes it’s “soft” but we’d be screaming for it if it was us and he gives the ref a decision to make by doing it. He’s suppose to be experience now and it’s another poor decision.

Poor decision making across the pitch. Oakley-Boothe has also been woeful, but there no point going through them all because every one of them has fallen into that category……yes JCM & Kane also.

Thank f-k this season is over!!

It`s the thing you see watching Falkirk, Brad Spencer constantly looks to get balls forward, two wingers out wide creating space for the team and get chance after chance putting pressure on teams. The opposite of what we have.

We just pass the ball about and we are far too slow with no intention of getting it forward to break the lines. With players not good enough at this level. Lennon will know who can cut it at this level but unfortunately almost all aren`t good enough.

I hope Lennon comes out lets us know that’s the worst team he’s ever managed and that next season will be worth paying money to watch. We all know he thinks it anyway. He doesn’t need to pander to the wee sensitive boys anymore.

Updating here, watching the Falkirk game and noting the other scores, made myself a cuppa tea, posted on Bluesky for Pars fans there, messaging Pars friends including two overseas, and I was looking at getting a new telly and ooo just bought one.

We were saved by the lack of quality in a couple of other teams and Chris Kane.

Lennon ain`t going to F*lkirk. I reckon he`s already signed a contract with us and they`re just holding back the announcement until the season is finished.

Look back to 6 weeks ago, did anybody realistically see us finishing 7th? Albeit with a lot of other results going our way.

Good to hear Andy Tod getting some praise. There is definitely a fine player there.

Bye bye Victor Wanyama. Admit your true age and draw your bloody pension.

No chance Lennon has signed a contract yet!
Hes kept us up and will be looking at the £££ in his account and probably now ready to discuss a contract.
If Mcglyn does go to Hearts then Lennon will be gone to Falkirk… step above us and just needs to keep them up where we need promotion.
We will need to offer him big money!

Why are people linking him with Falkirk?

Firstly, McGlynn hasn`t even gone yet (does he want to go? Do Hearts really want him back?)

Secondly, going to a club like Falkirk is risky. Newly promoted, high expectations etc. After the year we`ve had I expected most fans will be happy if we can get to the end of the game without the scoreline reading Dunfermline - 0.

You would hope that getting the management structure in place will be pretty much sorted. It`s a short window to prepare for next season in terms of recruitment. We may have already had conversations with players. Both within and out with the club. Relying on a number of loans doesn`t win you leagues. Some have been a success, and others seem to have drifted away. You need signed players with some investment in the future. Hopefully, we have some younger players coming through from the reserves.

Loans have been relied on far too much post admin. I understand why, but you can`t keep rebuilding a squad every summer and expect success. Assuming Lennon stays, he`s effectively building a whole new squad, and I`d hope this would be made up primarily of contracted players rather than loans. I can`t say I expect many of the current loanees to be made permanent. Tobi is the strongest candidate but I don`t feel any of the others have really set the heather alight.

I was linking Lennon with Falkirk as if Mcglyn goes to Hearts he is the right manager to replace him. I would state it’s a lot less pressure to keep a team up in the Premiership than trying to win the Championship title with a whole new team.
Anyway the season is finished so all the staff/players(that are left) have a break away and we will see what happens.
I have a feeling Mr Cook will be busy for the next month or so!

Chris Kane has calf problems that need to be managed training/per game… Stuff that and get players that can play a full season.. Well just home, and that was bloody awful. The type of performance we have come to expect from this team and that squad. The only wonder for me is how Morton only scored 2.

Although I totally back his appointment and keep my fingers crossed he’ll be here next season, Lennon is not beyond criticism for tonight and has to take some of the blame for the absolute shambles. He juggled the pack to give players a run out, but he’ll not have found out anything about the players that the fans couldn’t already have told him.

Everyone says it, but I’ll back it up, I’m so glad to see the back of a lot of this squad, and if everyone was to quit right now, I doubt I’d be too sad. Take away Kane & JCM, can anyone really say that have been up to it over the course of the season?? I doubt it.

As I said in my Half Time post, JCM looked well off it tonight, but he’s not going to hit the highs every week. I was actually surprised he stayed on the park. He got a yellow for “taking one for the team” then had another 2 or 3 fouls after it. Very lucky.

Positives from tonight, the only positives for me was the introduction of Andy Tod. He looked fantastic, did everything right to set up Otoo to miss an open goal from 6 yards and pretty much did everything he could to impress. He looked a real player and definitely someone who should be in and about the squad next year.

Well, we wait and see what happens with NL…..but I really hope this is the end of the banter years, it’s just not funny any more!!

I wasn`t at the game so was interested to hear the comments of those who were or saw it somehow. They make depressing reading.

I`ve just listened to NL`s post-match interview on COWS and it sounds as if he was at a different match! He conceded we lost a poor first goal but says the penalty decision was ridiculous. After that he said we were the better side, particularly in the second half, and he commended our endeavour and will to win.

He praised VW, Tash and Andrew Tod and says it was the old problem of not converting chances. He also said our set plays were poor. He said our goalscoring record was poor and had to improve. He didn`t sound like a man who was thinking of walking away.

There is lots of scientific research (with clever experimental designs) and data that conclusively shows that when people see or hear the same opinion from a couple of others they are much more likely to give that same opinion when asked than they would have done had they made their assessments before hearing or reading what anyone else said. My take tonight was a bit different.

Missed their first goal which I heard was from Chalmers losing possession. Didn’t get a good look at the penalty Chalmers was penalised for but one of the Pars TV commentators wondered if it was a bit soft and I note another dot.netter thought the same. What did this at the game who had a good view think ? Chalmers doesn’t have much pace and that is something management will no doubt be considering despite his ability and willingness to show and receive the ball. Tonight probably did not positively affect his chances of a contract extension and he would be a year older next year.

Certainly not the start we wanted but despite being involved in us losing two goals in first 6 mins, credit to Chalmers for carrying on and still looking for the ball.

I thought Cooper did really well for the time he was on and I really hope he has his contract extended as he has unpredictability, makes runs, can beat players in the box, can set other players up and will shoot and has scored some goals too despite in my view being grossly underused. He got subbed later in second half but NL was wanting a look at other players and with Queens losing not so much at stake.

Pleased to see how well Andy Tod did having one of his best first team appearances. He had one good effort and on another occasion following up close in middle goal connects with ball and almost scores hitting the post. He won the ball back, is much stronger and bigger now and had good link up play and provides some more unpredictability and potential great weighted through balls. He has scored got reserves and was for our MOM for me in reserve final with Killie singling out for attention kicking and pushing him on many ocassions. He really deserves to get a contract extension. Our problem is lack of unpredictability and creativity in final third and I think he can provide that and while previously he was light he has really bulked up and showed tonight he can cope in men’s football. Danny Kanheman and Amos Tversky showed how as humans we have evolved to be very risk averse valuing avoiding a loss of £100 twice as much as a £100 win. For me too many managers are to risk averse and play it safe and tend to underplay the more skillful and younger players. I thought he and Cooper stood out tonight.

It was a bit of a proverbial game of two halves for Chilokoa-Mullen. Maybe one of his weakest first halves but thought he was back to the solid player we know in the second half.

Once again I probably will be a more dissenting voice on Wanyama. Yes he is very slow currently and for much of the first half it seemed some of our players didn’t pass to him while he got frustrated once by lack movement of teammates in front. There were flashes of skill and ability on show but if I was manager I would have subbed him at half time. Never expected him to play the full 90, but for me as the game went on he became more and more effective. On Pars Tv you can’t often see the whole pitch but it seemed as he was playing just in front of the back three earlier on but became more involved higher up the pitch in second half. We need more creativity in final third to improve our scoring rate. There were shades of George Best at Hibs as the second half wore on and he started to get a bit of service from team mates and strolled around sprayed sone nice passes and switching play with cross balls. I stand to be corrected but I think it was him who played a good ball out right which eventually ended with Otoo’s great chance to score (with goal open which he missed.)Clearly he has a lot of fitness work to do to get into shape before a pre-season, but IF he could do that, then maybe he might be worth taking a gamble on a short term extendable deal. As the game went on he seemed to be trying to guide players’ off the ball movements around him. So he had a much better second half.

With Otoo’s miss, Andy Tod hitting the post and Ngwenya scuffing his shot after a great build up seemed to put him in a good position either more luck might have scored 3.

However Morton threatened on counter attack and their own chances to score more and put the game to bed.

For me it was a case of who scored the next goal. If we had taken one of our chances - just maybe we might have gone on to draw or win,

Finally while Otoo will rue his miss with the goal open and an angled connection needed I didn’t think he was as bad as some others thought. Yes he lost possession at times but he drove forward snd had some nice link up play at times and even for his miss he still made the run to make the opportunity to score and often we haven’t done that.

Await NL’s thoughts on the game and to see who goes and who is retained and also be interesting to see what kind of players come in. I think the board could trust NL to spend the money wiser than some of our previous managers. Hopefully he is announced and we get a rebuild. As NL intimated it will take time but if we can aim for play off’s next season and then complete rebuild to challenge for title the following year we might finally get back to Premier League.

Happy offseason to all Pars fans

Another dire performance to cap off a whole season of them bar 1 game.

I tell you what, Lennon seriously damages any credibility he might have as a football manager putting wanyama on the pitch, its an embarrassment and it doesn’t bode well if he thinks that’s good enough for this level. He wouldn’t be in the team for any other club in this league.

2 goals in 7 games and we’ve been very poor, only thing lennon has done is show he’s better than tidser. If old mid 30’s expensive former celtic players are on his radar we may well struggle again. Wotherspoon showed this season you need legs in this league.

Mullan tobi and Kane aside that squad is even worse than the one Grant and yogi had, just awful to watch with zero pace, skill, ability or forward thinking in it, it’s a good league 1 team with 3 championship level players on it.

Already looking forward to not watching the same dross next season, the more of these flops he keeps the worse we will be next season, if we can get a fee, let otoo go, he’s been posted missing all season and was hardly a standout the season before. KRH another who looks like this level is above him.

Lennon will have no excuses if there’s not a dramatic improvement next season. It’s been 4 seasons now of boring limited negative football where it’s basically been a war of attrition for the fans.

I think Morton deserved to win but I don`t think we were as bad as made out above. That was the most chances we`ve had in an away game for a long time. Even in the first half, it looked like we had two early chances cleared off the line and another that was hit straight at Chris Kane that he couldn`t get out of the way of. A bit difficult to be sure as they were at the far end.

O`too`s miss in the second half looked bad but the ball across to him wasn`t that good. From behind the goal, you could see his body shape wan`t set up to score and it always looked tricky to get it on target from that shape. I expected it to end up narrowly wide, which is exactly what happened.

I think a lot of it is just frustration that the game was probably over so early. Terrible first goal with Chalmers losing the ball, but then somehow Morton had two players through on the keeper. It was a bit of a mess, but we struggled early on with Morton pressing us and with a lot of energy and giving us no time.

I`m glad the general view on the penalty seems to be that it was a joke. I don`t know what he gave it for and was one of those that I had no idea what he`d given when he blew the whistle. Didn`t help that he seemed to point at the goal rather than the penalty spot. He didn`t have a great game and it felt like a lot went against us (maybe I`m blinded by a bad penalty call), though in a game that mattered we definitely would have finished with 10 as he let Mullen away with a very obvious second yellow.

It`s a shocking season and I`m glad it`s over. I need a good break from it all now but on tonight alone I`m not all that upset.

From then on, the lack of intenstity in the game just meant that it always felt out of reach. Even though we did have chances in the second half, it just felt to me

Rhino provided a much better insight into Wanyamas contribution than your limited effort.
I think ill accept his version

I’m on holiday and didn’t see the game. Thanks to Rhino and Socks for an objective view of the game.

I’m sure we can look forward to a multitude of players leaving and arriving during the close season.
It’s been a hard watch for a number of years, but this season has topped them all.

It wasn`t that bad a performance, but another defeat and failure to score so you can understand people`s frustration. The first goal was a bad mistake, the penalty was a ridiculous decision, absolutely shocking.

After I would largely agree with Lennon, we were well on top, actually made some chances but the finishing was laughable. Our set pieces were absolutely dreadful and we were a bit unlucky with a few blocks and one cleared off the line. But another 0. The effort again was there, the quality wasn`t.

Not many positives, Tod did quite well when he came on nobody else really stood out. Nobody was really poor, suprisingly JCM was our worst performer. I don`t think Wanyama was anything like as poor as has been suggested, I`ve not been impressed with Oakley-Boothe, and he was terrible to begin with, but when he actually moves around the pitch and puts some tackles in, he can certainly play.

Morton are normally a good barometer for Championship football, a team of hatchet men with occasionally 1 decent forward. If you finish below them, you`ve had a poor season, finish above them and you will have done at least ok.

At least the close season has to be more exciting. Certainly time for the majority of the squad to move on.

I thought he was First Half but improved in the second. For me, it wasn’t what he did on the ball, in fact, on the ball I thought he picked out a couple of sublime passes. There was a reverse pass into the box that nobody saw coming, as an example. He also picked Ngwenya out with a cracking through ball, which split the Defence…..all positive. Once or twice, he held onto the ball for too long and got caught, the times I can think of were right in front of the Away support, he even picked up a yellow for one of them.

The part where he just looked off it, to me, was off the ball. Far too often he never picked up runners…or couldn’t, which caused over loads that our Defence struggled to deal with. Balls fell in his area that he just could not get too, or put a challenge in for because he couldn’t get across to it. Off the ball, he just looked totally done.

Listen, if Lennon thinks pre-season can get that out of him, then great, let’s do it. If not, then he looks a player that’s just totally done and living on past success.

This is just my objective opinion on him, some may agree others won’t, I can live with that. There’s certainly no knives out for him on my part.

I think Wanyama needs a bit of time to get up to speed. I think NL`s praise of him suggests he could be with us next year. He has come in late, and much was expected of him. Next season, there will be new faces. He will have a preseason to work in his fitness. I think if he can get up to speed, he will stroll this league. You need an old head around younger players so Im not writing him off. He can offer something off the pitch and in training.

The worrying thing for me is Lennon thought they were very good 2nd half.
Doesn`t bode well for a big clear out that.

To be fair he is hardly going to come out and go at the players. Post match interviews aren`t always truthful and every word said shouldn`t be taken as gospel.

What would be the point of not being honest about the last game of the season? He doesn`t have to worry about morale or the effect of criticism on players. His assessment wasn`t unqualified praise. He wasn`t at all complimentary about the loss of the first goal, the set pieces or the finishing. He seemed happier with the overall attitude than he was with the Airdrie game though.

I wasn`t there but I was struck by how much his assessment differed from some of the comments on the forum from the usual suspects.

I say this so often that he`s going to start thinking I`ll turn up at his house with a bunch of flowers but I`m really grateful to read a post from Socks when I miss a game. Pleasure reading the hugely intelligent contributions from Rhino as well. Forum would be a hugely different place with more of those.

I think team selection is quite compromised – a combination of it being the end of the season, poor recruitment and our loan policy.

Bene is a good leader, experienced, and solid, but also slower, so we need 2 alongside him, which makes us weaker elsewhere. The compromise this week was to play Chalmers at LCB presumably hoping he could supplement the midfield with some decent passing (but he gave away 2 goals).

We have missed Edwards at LWB this season – Ngwenya looked OK to begin with but never really kicked on – he seems permanently hampered by fitness issues. Comrie isn’t a RWB IMO, neither is KRH (and the latter isn’t the winger he once might have been).

In the middle Wanyama showed some nice touches, some strength and lasted 90 minutes. He is painfully slow, so needs someone to do his running for him as well. (A bit like Dorrans -he could be on a Premiership wavelength unlike his teammates).

And Kane, while experienced, has weaknesses in his legs so struggles to play 90 minutes every week. He will have lost some sharpness as well which can be critical – instead of getting to a cross marginally ahead of a defender, he is marginally second.

Overall, it seems like we are playing half a man to a full player down every week. Competitive in most of the pitch but never really superior. We have all seen teams draw games (or even win occasionally) when they are down to 10 men but it’s seldom pretty.

On the positive side, a couple of decent signings could be transformational as it would allow us more bodies in areas where we were weak, and allow more players to play their natural games.

On the lack of goals – there are many issues for this. Lack of numbers in the box, lack of trying, lack of sharpness, lack of belief, lack of runs, poor delivery into the box, poor set-pieces.

I thought IndiaPar (I think) made a good point last week about coaching. I assume one point of coaching is to repeat and repeat and repeat so things become second-nature, and you don’t have to think. You can see the results of this when we lose possession or there is a dead-ball against us – everyone knows where they should be.

But it also discourages spontaneity. And the net result seems to be that if in doubt, you keep possession. Shooting gives the ball away and is the antithesis of what you have had drilled into you. As does launching a free-kick forward into the box, it often appeared.

And there is the vicious circle of poor quality of delivery so players don’t make the run, so there is no delivery at all and so on.

Todd and Cooper at least look like they want to score. I would have put Tod in this camp as well, and was nearly as surprised at Otoo when he squared that chance rather than shoot himself. I noticed him getting a right ticking off from Kane afterwards.

I would hope that a new season brings a new attitude.

Our attacking creativity really needs addressed, I know that’s an obvious thing to say but what a terrible season. We survived and that’s all that matters now but theirs been 0 progress from last season.

The games where Kane didn’t play you just couldn’t see where a goal was coming from, a major clear out is needed.
