Ayr missing Dempsey/Watret and dropping Kevin Holt to the bench weakens them I`d say.
Been really impressed with Kyle Ure playing for Scotland U21`s so interesting to see how he does.
Our bench looks really strong. There are a few in there I`m surprised aren`t starting.

Great goal by Barney Stewart. He is still a bit raw but has really come on since coming to the club. I think we are playing really well competing for the ball and moving it forward at every opportunity. Night and day from this time last season.

Barney is a Ross Jack sort of forward. he`s there when you need him most. I must say a big thumbs-up to John Tod and young Fraser on the left. Some lovely work is going on there. Deniz`s distribution appears to have improved significantly. All in all, quite a respectable first half. If we can hold on, this could be a very significant result.

Quite a strange game.
Neither team seemed to dominate, but I was quite confident that we`d create a chance (which is pretty novel).
Obviously Ayr created chances at home and we rode our luck a bit, but I`d like to suggest JT for man of the match for being invisibly effective. Sometimes you don`t see what a defender does. You just see what they stop from happening.

First half performance was impressive, Barney could’ve got himself a couple more just in that half alone, it would’ve been really disappointing to finish it level or even behind after Ayr hit the post (where they really should’ve scored).
Second half was a proper grind out performance, thought the defence was brilliant, Ayr were well on top for the first 15-20mins and in previous times we would’ve folded.
Credit to Mehmet as well, served his duties well, bar his kicking which I thought was poor.
Great to have such strength and options on the bench and subs were used well although admittedly I thought Amade didn’t have the best of performances when he came on.
Andy Tod put in some shift.
Think the constant calls by the reporter on us mounting a title challenge is a bit too much but certainly look to be in the ballpark for the right playoff places this time around. I think over the duration of the season we are going to need more experience up front, what Kane and Rudden would’ve provided but the boys are doing well thus far.
Big victory as well taking into account our next two games are against the top two.

Yeah there is no way we’re mounting a title challenge.
We would have to do something we haven’t done in many years and win 5 or 6 in a row to even get a shot.
We’re clearly not looking below us this season though and a playoff is realistic.

It`s got me excited to watch the team week to week again. The last few years of dull, insipid football was really killing my enjoyment for the game.
As much as winning is the goal of every football team, getting to watch some really talented young players gel together has been great, especially with a few of the homegrown guys being able to break through.

Fantastic 3 points. Deserved after the first half performance, thought we could’ve given a bit more in the second half but tbf to them Ayr came out the traps flying after half time and we done well to ride it out and keep a clean sheet. The boy Marco Rus for them looks a talent. All in all a great team performance. On a side note Robbie Fraser is class, delighted to have him on a 3 year deal!

Great result last night and a whole team performance. Watched on my phone while in A&E at Stoke Mandeville hospital. Got a few funny looks when Big Barney scored. Second half we dug in and did the basics well.

Fraser can also use his weaker foot on occasion, whereas I dont remember Edwards doing much with his right foot.

I thought it was a solid performance where we did what we needed to do - create chances and score first half, defend well second half against a good side. They were always going to create a chance or two but Deniz was solid as the last man. I wouldn`t underestimate the performance and the ability to get a result away to Ayr.
Matty Todd is back to his game, Fraser is a real find. Good to see Chris Hamilton having a pop at goal. It was a good stike. If he can add that to his game he will be a much better player and become a pars legend.

Yeah and being local lads like the Tod brothers , you get that extra ounce of effort from them.

There’s a lot to be said for that. NL gave hammy a contract when he could have decided not to but I think he realised at some point he’s going to need someone who’ll put himself on the line for 3 points. I also know he’s put other local lads under a lot of pressure. I think he’s trying to force them to step up and tbf we are starting to see the results of that.

I think JCM and Nuru are going to be big players for us this season. I don`t think Nuru has fully come out of his shell yet, but he looks like a quality player. JCM just gets better and better.
