I’m sitting this one out today ~ tbh I’m knackered after being the hostess with the mostess for a busy family Christmas (wouldn’t have had it any other way 😀).
For those of you who are going today have a ball, and cheer them on for me ta.
I’ll post the team lines when I see them - feel free to add if ye get there afore me.
Hope everyone had a great Christmas and will have a smashing new year when it comes.
Mon the Paaaars!

Makes more sense than the Ayr game!
Back three of JCM, Abdulai, Ngwenya. Todd and Fraser wing backs. Gilmour and Hamilton in the middle, front 3 of Tod, Rudden, Stewart.

Depends whether Lenny sticks with having Hamilton at RB but I think he`ll be needed in the middle today, so could be more like this:
Mehmet
Todd
Chilokoa-Mullen
Ngwenya
Abdulai
Fraser
Hamilton
Gilmour
A Tod
Rudden
Stewart

Not surprised Mehmet is back…..
Gilmour and Hamilton will need another body beside them in the middle, not sure who with that line up. Thought Otoo may have started today.
What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

Think Andrew Tod & Rudden will be asked to do a bit tracking back today, but aye I agree the midfield looks light.
Just noticed there`s no Kane again so hope we don`t end up needing to chase the game, no striker on the bench

Aye indeed — just shows how badly we needed a forward who just wants to score any way he can - we create enough chances and a striker who is in form and will take them like Barney has been doing
Just a pity if we do lnt have him as we would only get better — a fully fit Rudden - Stewart upfront with Tod, gilmour etc chipping in with goals best we have had in that department for years..

Very nervy and poor second half albeit Mehmet didn`t have that much to do other than come out to smother a shot early in the half then save Hamilton`s tame header nearer the end. Still gave up far too much possession and territory though, didn`t pass the ball well at all im the second half and barely created anything ourselves. Big win but we shouldn`t have been hanging on like that at the end after such a dominant first half.

I think you have to remember that Kieran was playing in a poorly performing team when he first came into that team, I thought he improved us. For me, he has all the attributes. He is big, strong, and has some pace. I don`t think there will be many, if any, players who will be quicker than him over 30-40m. He just needs a bit of game time in that position to build on his game. A couple of times today, he had to get across the box quickly, and I thought he did. He also dealt with the threat of their pace up front. I thought today was a real team performance. My only thought was that when we are clearing our lines, we need players to be in a position where we can clear the ball to and they can collect it and hold it up.
I have to say we have a player in Robbie Frazer.

Regarding your comment about clearing the lines, I can’t understand why we persist in trying to play balls up the line when we are facing the wrong way. Just put the ball out for a throw and allow the team to regroup.

Ngwenya played like a captain today, great all round performance, and we showed guts.
Away win against the Wee team, normal order is restored.....
Thought he was really good today and was solid in the second half last week too.

Their tactics , again, was to Punt high for our defence to head out and they feed off the scraps in and around our box.
Mehmet’s pass from defence was sublime for the first goal.
Also a nice touch at the second for Hammy to involve Mehmet in the celebrations. Finally the young lads stuck up for themselves against continual intimidation from the Rovers. I thought Brown was lucky to not see a red for them and Hammy was immense. How the ref gave a foul against him for a perfectly timed challenge in their defence is what boils my blood, especially when Rover players are body checking out players after the ball has gone. All ended well however.

A great 1st half performance and overall result breaking the 7 game run of home wins in the Fife Derby.
This is probably one for debate but when is it too early to start killing time. We dominated the 1st half with aggression and intensity yet 2nd half we came out and decided we wanted to kill time which took away all the attributes that had got us in the ideal position. Pro’s and cons but ultimately I think we made it harder for ourselves.
On the game it was a bit of a throwback watching 2 physical forwards putting themselves about and linking up so well.
Final word for the support, they definitely lifted the team beforehand and during the 1st half the players responded to it.
Great way to end the year.

First half was immense in terms of team effort. We were on top of them and they knew it.
Very deserved 2-0 lead at half time.
As expected under the cosh start of second and I never got a good view of penalty decision but players clearly not happy about it.
We rode it out and came back into it.
Very pleasing to see all the team getting involved in the stramash this time unlike the previous one at Starks Park when nobody seemed to care about a blatant elbow.
Hamilton today? Easy easy man of the match.

Genuinely enjoyed that today, and buzzing tonight. That was a proper derby and a game of 2 Half’s. The first, we totally capitalised on Raith being as bad as we were in the First Half v Ayr last week, and thankfully we have players up top that can hurt teams. Although, it was a wee bit more nervy in the Second than I’d have liked, but that was down to the Rovers upping their levels and us struggling to get on the ball.
I’m not going to comment on the Raith penalty, from the other end of the pitch, I can’t say with any certainty if it was or it wasn’t. What I would say, is I find some of the blinkeredness about the Ref staggering, as he was hopeless for both sides and for as much as Hamilton could have been sent off, so should Brown, and Chin was also very lucky to only be shown a yellow for his late challenge.
Have to say, I thought our Ghanaian Prince was absolutely outstanding at the back today, I just love him. Nothing gets past him and his love for Defending is so infectious. Again, I thought he was a rock, as was Ngwema, who looks a natural Centre Back in his 2 games and it was great to finally see JCM play well at Starks.
Up top, gutted to be losing big Barney. What a guy and he took a couple of sore ones along the way. I genuinely think Falkirk are getting a better player back, but I have a hunch he would probably rather stay. He’s playing every week, he’s scoring goals and the fans love him, why would he want to go back to Falkirk to play under study? Anyway, wish him well and delighted with his send off performance. His link up play with Rudden and Tod was exceptional at times.
As for us, today brings back the frustrations of why we can’t play like that First Half every week….however, hopefully today is another platform to build from, thought the lads were superb, and we saw 2 sides of them today.

Great first half and a scrappy second half, too much high ball, with the standard of referee being consistently crap in this league.
Imrie in his post match interview complaining about Hammy still being on the park?
He should be looking at his own captains indiscretions from the first minute to a deliberate handball second half, a second yellow and he was off!
Let`s keep it going next week!🏁🏁🏁

We had the better of the first half, but I was saying just before we went 1-0 up that we`d fallen out of it a little in the 5 mins before that. Good goal at a good time to get us ahead after having had most of the play. And a nice second as well, showing that we don`t need to play every corner and free kick short if the cross is good enough.
Start of the second half was a bit annoying. We seemed intent on playing slow and always taking the extra touch. I`ve mentioned it often over several recent managers, and I never really feel it works for us, and especially when we`re being pressed quickly in our own half as we were in that spell - we just give up the ball in bad positions. Hard to be sure on the penalty call from 100 yards away but my immediate reaction was that it wasn`t a foul. Thankfully it`s a set of highlights I`ll be happy to watch for another look.
From then on, we changed our approach and focused more on the basics with minmal fannying about. We still didn`t create much ourselves but defensively it was much more effective - we went from being under heavy pressure before they scored to being pretty comfortable after that goal.
Chris Hamilton was great, but he probably was a bit lucky to stay on after those two hefty tackles late in the game. Maybe it worked in our favour a little that the ref had let the Rovers players, Brown in particular, away with quite a bit early in the game. The more I see him and Gilmour together, the more convinced I am that they are our best pairing in there, by some distance.
Really pleased with all of the back 3, and Mehmet did fine behind them as well. Really impressed that Keiran Ngwenya has come from being nowhere near the team to starting and playing really well. It was great to see Hamilton run the length of the park to celebrate with Mehmet after the second goal. He looks after his team mates and I`m proud that he`s our captain.
It was a great win in the end. A deserved half-time lead and a good defensive effort from 2-1 til the final whistle. And it showed the power of football - when you`re having a bit of a shitty time in other aspects of life, it can be such a big thing to allow yourself to get completely absorbed in a game, particularly the late defensive effort, and put everything else aside for a while. Especially so when you get a win, making the nervous ending worthwhile. I`m very grateful to the players and management for the wee lift today.

Thanks Rusty, really appreciate the kindness there. And just your acknowledgement of it there has actually helped quite a bit tonight. The same offer is there for you too, and I`m much more comfortable at listening than talking.
Sometimes it`s hard to understand the emotional impact of football, and how it can interact with other, totally unrealted things. But fundamentally, that`s what football comes down to for me - I like the tactical and analytical side but ultimately it comes down to the emotional journey. In a couple of weeks I won`t remember who played in today`s game, what our shape was or our tactical approach in the different phases of the game. But I`ll remember that emotional release at the final whistle. That`s what football is to me, and it`s powerful.

Just watched the goals on X having been on a train from King`s Cross to Waverley during yesterday`s game. Some great build-up play for Andrew Tod`s involving Todd, Rudden and JCM and a great corner move involving Todd and Barney for the second.
Good to see Toddy proving he has what it takes at Championship level and proving a few doubters wrong.

What Lennon needs to achieve is in squad mentality and consistency, playing without fear and on front foot - teams in this division can’t handle it, you seen how easy Ayr folded in the second half and Raith in the first.
If Lennon can master that then a lot of teams will struggle against us.

We needed that – we’d gone a few without winning and you don’t want to get into a slump.
I thought the team selection was good – we sent out a team to win, rather than try not to lose. and one that would have to scrap. I’m not sure if it was deliberate but it seemed that Raith did put it about a bit early doors. It was noticeable that those perhaps more skilful but lightweight players, such as Cáceres, Bray, MacLeod and Cooper were confined to the bench, and never got a look in.
I don’t believe that Raith were at their strongest – it’s days like this that our stronger squad should give us an advantage and we should capitalise, although the derby nature of the fixture can be a leveller. You still have to perform though.
Perhaps it was NL’s influence but we did start more energetically. As you’d expect, Raith upped their game after the break – the third goal is always important, and when it went their way I was a little worried. And a bit disappointed that Deniz didn’t save the pen – he has a great record in this regard. Easton did take it well though – he has that knack of seemingly being able to wait until the keeper commits and then rolling it the other way, although his bump on Hamilton afterwards was completely unnecessary.
Barney will be very hard to replace – off the top of my head I can’t think of a loanee who has made such an impression – not since Adam Hammill possibly. Not just for his impressive goal ratio, but his link-up play and heading ability. I hope others have learned from him as he will have learned from others.
Time for us to go on a wee run now – Ross County may finally have turned the corner now they only have one manager in charge so they won’t be a pushover – it will be interesting to see how we start the game.
HNY all when it comes

any win in this league is a good win but with it being a derby, the record through there and the recent run of results and performances there is a bit more importance added to this one.
hopefully it is backed up next week with another win.
