Title says it all. No progress, some amount of money spent to get to play-offs and we are 6 points off bottom in mid February. Lenny - yer tea`s oot.

All the backing he`s had and we`re back to being relegation fodder. Unacceptable.

Poor attack he never been able to fix, Slow starts, never been able to fix and now in freefall. I had high hopes for him but it`s just getting worse. apart for three games we`ve been very poor since November.

I’m not quite in the Lennon out camp yet, extremely disappointed with his tactics, the way we start a lot of games, never addressing the striker situation and his signings are questionable. It’s different players, different management and different owners, but like the last few seasons hoping to avoid relegation to League One seems to be the best we can achieve.

I think he needs to figure it out but for balance we are closer to the promotion play offs right now than we are to the relegation play offs. We also have 2 games in hand over Airdrie.

What’s annoying me about Lennon is he knows what’s wrong as he points it out in his post match interviews.

But if he’s unable to correct this then that would suggest he’s not the man for the job. Presumably quite a few of this seasons signings are his players?

Lennon obviously can’t get the team up for a game.

I’m dreading the next 3 games, our home form is dreadful.

If we lose then he has to go.

Likely the biggest budget outwith the two relegated teams and i`d be very surprised if he himself isn`t the highest paid manager in the league.

Cup run is buying him a bit of leeway but Mr Bord must be having a few serious concerns.

Stick with him, get the rest of the dead wood out the door in the summer and back him some more.

Jealous there was only Todd and mullan in today’s team who were here last season.

What makes you think getting the high earners away and bringing in new players is going to work next season?

We’ve brought in Morrison recently and he doesn’t look like a top half championship player so far.

Correct about him pointing out issues after games, but the next game is the same. What`s the problem ? Does he give them the hairdryer treatment maybe, who knows.

It only looks like, to us, as a manager/coach he struggles without big pots of cash or having the best players.
He needs to start proving he`s better than that or his time will be up soon.

I just wonder if NL has got board with the challenge and just expected it to happen without putting in too much effort. Championship is a different beast from the SPL.

We just don’t seem to close down teams. I actually think our back 3 were looking great Mullen, Abdulai and Ngwenya now we are leaking goals and these guys seem to have lost their confidence! Keeper situation as a nightmare. Mehmet is just too unreliable and just sells games!!

This league involves fine margins. You have to keep your discipline, stop complaining about refereeing decisions, and focis on addressing the main issues. Its poor decisionmaking in the final third, and individual errors tgat is costing us games

There’s bound to be managers out there that have the ability to manage a team and get them up for a game.

We have a good squad on paper and if the manager can’t get them playing that’s on him to an extend.

McPake had a better home record than Lennon and was punted, unfairly IMO, as he wasn’t backed.

I dont think we will be in a relegation battle but we need to be savvy and learn to win games. A couple of winscand we are back up there. It will be a big ask to get into the playoffs now I think, but that has to remain the focus. Time to step up to the challenge

Absolutely scandalous that we’re scrapping with the likes of Morton and airdrie now considering the clear gulf in budgets. Morrison, Kearney, Fraser, Abdulai, Rudden.. all signed for transfer fees. Arguably the most backed manager in our history when it comes to the number of players bought, not signed on free transfers.

We are rudderless on the pitch, we have no leader, making Mullen Captain presumably to encourage him to sign a new deal , unfortunately he is not captain material and perhaps not as good as himself and his agent think he is albeit he is a good player who could do with another couple of seasons with us . The only other Captain would be Benny who is probably coming to the end of his career or Hamilton who can,t stay on the pitch long enough to be a leader. we need someone with a bit of drive an enthusiasm to push the young lads forward

This season was always going to be about building a team and giving young players experience. I had hoped we would achieve a top four finish, but that is looking more and more unlikely on recent form lets be honest. The biggest challenge is getting in forward players. In this league you need a big strong forward line as it is more about physically being able to pressure defences. I appreciate playees coming in on loan, but you really need your own players in those key positions.

Defensively I like JCM and Nuru but we leak goals so there is a bit of an issue there. Teams are getting behind us and causing us problems. We have a reputation of losing goals early. Not a good reputation to have. I think we need Bene back as captain even if we play with three at the back.

Much talk of JCM moving on. Im not sure of the situatoon, but if he wants to move on, you cant stand in his way. I would be happy to see MFW back even for a fee. He chipped in with goals.

8 wins from 24 league games is poor given the backing Lennon has had. McPake would’ve done better IMO if he had been give the same budget. Lennon is a flat track bully who is used to having everything his own way at Celtic.

This thread is ridiculous, one or two really needing to give their heads a wobble and now we get McPake would do better🤷‍♂️We’re building a team and building the experience of young players. NL has had two transfer windows these things need time but sadly that’s not something some on this forum are prepared to give. Ive every confidence NL will turn this around. It’s a work in progress, we’ve a cup quarter final, the first in 17 years and enough games left to ensure we improve on last season. We’ve had to endure Hughes, Grant, McPake and Tidser and some still don’t believe the club is improving? It’s in the best shape for years and a couple of bad results won’t change that. Moderate your expectations and have some patience.

Lennons had 2 windows yes, so why haven’t we signed a first choice keeper?

He obviously wasn’t impressed with Mehmet last season as he stuck with Tobi. We only brought in Terrell in the summer.

It’s an area that’s needed sorted for years.

Same with the striker situation, needed addressed last season and here was are still with Kane our only number 9.

And the striker you’d have brought in would have been?

There was a fair number of fans celebrating Terrell’s contract extension earlier in the week.

We’re a championship team I don’t know how many players of the quality you require would be willing to take the step down therefore we need to build with young players with potential.

I wanted us to bring in Tony Watt or Louis Moult at striker. Both were available and looking for a club.

I don’t doubt we had targets up front and at goalkeeper in the summer that fell through for various reasons tho. I’d hope this summer we will be more successful in the window and get the pieces we really need.

It’s hard when we sign a striker like Rudden and he’s only played 8 out of a possible 21 league games. You can’t really factor that in when we sign him. We are also lumbered with Kane (who’s unreliable) and KRH, who isn’t good enough, both on big wages and long contracts from the previous regime. If these guys fall out of favour or get injured, they still have to be paid.

My biggest gripe is that when we play a back five, we also play two deep lying midfielders in Gilmour and Amade. That’s seven players in defensive positions, and it’s never going to work when the opposition are asking us to break down a low block. I’m hoping Cooper is fit soon as he could be the one to drive forward and make things happen.

This is Andy Tod`s world and we are lucky to live in it.

Like said above St Johnstone brought 2 in who were available.

Morton brought in a striker in Main.

Do we actually look for players who are available or just automatically jump down to the English championship academies?

Recruitment is an issue. Yea Rudden was brought in for the striker position and got injured, we still had time to bring in someone during January and haven still currently with the loan window open. Throw in the fact Kane can’t play more than 45mins, it’s a concern.

I’m not Lennon out just yet, but I do think questions need to be asked and I do have concerns that he’s not the manager most of us thought he was.

In front of the camera, he generally says the right things…although our views maybe differ after match at times….but he never seem to address these problems adequately. New players come in, but yet we start slow, give away sloppy goals, slow in the build up, one dimensional yadda yadda yadda.

The signing policy is the signing policy, and it’s one that I agree with, but when Lennon and everyone can see we lack experience, we address this by signing a winger to play out of position and a Centre Midfielder who looked way off it against the League 1 whipping boys and has so much going on in his personal life, that it’s understandable that his mind and priorities aren’t on his football at this moment in time.

I could go on and on, but a lot of my views have already been said. It is a project and it was never going to be turned around in 2 transfer windows, but we should be seeing better progress than this. Lennon came out and was frosty with the fans after the Kelty game, words to the affect of “I don’t care, I don’t care how we played. We’re in the quarter final for the first time in years and people need to remember that” and that’s fine to say that, if you keep winning, but we haven’t, so these comments grind more than they probably should.

Lennon out…..not yet, but he needs to start getting it right and he needs to drop the “you’re lucky to have me” attitude and get it sorted. He’s praised the backing from the stands along with the support from the board and the owners, so he can’t have any excuse and he can’t continue with this weak, possession based football that has cost others before him their job.

The next 3 games are 3 6 pointers, I don’t hold out much hope of getting something out of Tuesday, but we must start to see improvement, or as has been seen on this thread, I think sections of the support will start being vocal against him.

Thomas came in. It’s not his fault that our strikers are feeding off scraps at the moment. You still haven’t given me a name of who you’re bringing in if you sack Lennon?

Let me be clear here, do I think Lennon needs to sort it out? Absolutely. But I’ve yet to see anyone mention who they would bring in. It’s worth remembering that any new manager would still have the same squad that you keep telling people isn’t good enough. So it begs the question: is there any point in paying off a manager when it’s the same pool of players you think aren’t good enough? Also worth remembering we are closer to 4th than 9th.

This is Andy Tod`s world and we are lucky to live in it.

St Johnstone brought in 2 strikers when they were 8 points clear at the top of the league, these boys could smell the premier league plus they still have incoming transfer fees and parachute payments to throw around.
Imagine the noise on here if we’d signed Fowler and he turned in a performance like he did on Friday night. We’ll be fine, get behind the team.

they werent available early in the window when the club needed at least one forward to come in, the club signed two, they have been criticised in the past for being slow in the market, should they have waited on players who might not have become available at all or might have had no interest in coming here?

"we still had time to bring in someone during January and haven still currently with the loan window open. Throw in the fact Kane can’t play more than 45mins, it’s a concern.

they already brought two forwards in, Rudden got injured after the window had closed and there might not be a single forward available on loan, even if there is again they might have no interest in coming here.

sucess takes time, there will be ups and down on the way but changing managers and starting again from scracth isnt the answer.

there is no quick fixes in scottish football.

Absolutely this. Wasn’t so long ago we beat Hibs and the wee team away. Always going to be ups and downs. But we do need a striker.

Ridiculous bedwetting after just three bad games. Barring the errors, Arbroath was much improved, and with a bit of luck, we may have scored a couple more. Cut out the poor errors and there was a good chance we would have have got one and possibly three points from a game against the third best team in the league in conditions and on a pitch not the most condusive for good football.

We are a work in progress - and for me, there has been significant progress. We are generally much better to watch, and the squad`s average skill level is higher. At times we can be very good with the three game Raith, Hibs and St J being our best spell of the season. People have short memories - we are in a Scottish Cup Quarter Final for the first time in 17 years, deservedly knocking out Premier League opposition.

We are all frustrated by so many slow starts and slow tempo until we are behind. Hopefully we can somehow find a way to stop doing that. As the younger players get more experience they should get better.

I would however like to see creative players like Josh Cooper given more game time.

Let`s hope we can bounce back on Tuesday and Billy Terrell is fit to play.

business part of the season coming up Neil Lennon has to stay and be supported

I’m not a NL out fan. I want him to succeed for the supporters and club.

However, I am starting to question whether he is really fully committed to the job and whether there is an arrogance and expectation that is holding us back.

The fact that the team is inconsistent and so poor at times and yet NL has not addressed this issue. From my understanding if the team did badly NL was on players cases and they made damn sure they got it right! What’s happened to that approach as the players continually just dish out the same performances and errors!

People also ask what other manager would we get? Well Arbroath, Airdrie, Partick Thistle, Morton, Ayr all seem to have found Managers who know how to play and get results in this league. How would they fair with the budget at EEP? Why do their performances appear to be more consistent than ours?

We can’t keep losing to the teams below us. I think we are in relegation fight now - losing the last 3 to Morton, Airdrie and Arbroath does not look good especially when we have been outplayed in at least 2 of these matches!! Lose to QP and Ross County and my view of NL could change.

have not helped. We`ve had no penalties in the league

I’m not sure how we can be in a relegation fight when we’re closer to 4th than 9th. We are definitely in a rut, and if it continues, we could get dragged into a relegation battle, although it’s all ifs, buts, and maybes at the moment. It’s an annoying slump, but for now, that’s all it is.
In 10 days, once we’ve played the massive games coming up, we can reassess. But right now, we’re closer to 4th than 9th with 2 games in hand over Airdrie.

This is Andy Tod`s world and we are lucky to live in it.

I think the issue istgat qe play better agains teams like St J because it suits our style of play. We struggle where we need to go to mid and bottom league teams and dig out results. Its a different style and mindset.

We seemed to have some divine right to beat Arbroath on Saturday, a team flying this season and in the top thee in the league.
We dominated for long periods of the match and played better than the Morton match, unfortunately we lost a goalie to injury and our defence was not the greatest.
Lets see where the next run of games takes us, as most say any team could beat anyone in this league!

I tgink we have players who are good enough. We are able to play out of the back and through midfield but we huff and puff to get behind defences. I thinks that is because its more comfortable to knock the ball around in defence and midfield short passes rather than having a bit of movement up front to pass the ball behind defenders so they are running back towards their own goal. We are not good enough in the final third to pressure defences when we build up slowly and allow them to organise at the back. We dont run at defences, passes into your own forward players with their back to goal doesnt help them. Invariably they knock it back to the midfield or defence.

We struggle against teams who allow us to have possession because we struggle to break teams down.

Games in which we have taken points are when we play on the counter.

Our last game at home to Partick they allowed us more possession and yet they won 2 nil and had more attempts.

It’s a tricky situation we find ourselves in and we need to pickup some points over the next 8 days.

The absolute state of some of you you can’t seriously blame the manager for a group of so called professional football players inability to carry out a set of simple instructions without making a total bottom of it?

granted most of the squad are his players now and when they play well they are virtually unbeatable and Neil Lennon becomes the best thing since sliced bread but when we are playing badly and things don’t go our way you all start screaming for his head or getting on the players backs is it really a surprise when players we should be looking to sign turn us down?

Anyone who thought Neil Lennon would bring us instant success seriously needs to give their heads a wobble as that was never going to happen with a squad of players this young mistakes were always going to be made along the way this season sacking him now achieves absolutely nothing as any new manager coming in will inherit the same inconsistent group of players then we are back to square one again

Lennon needs to send out the best team every time - he doesn’t seem to know what that is just now. He starts in a formation and needs to change it despite the boys being trained to the original formation.
Confidence is still an issue - he needs to take a leaf out of him jefferies book and do what he done with our basically youth team at the time. Remember the ring a ring a Rosie’s … he made them go out and play our game - not theirs. He took young players and gave them confidence they could perform well above what they were accustomed to.
I really think he needs to change dynamics in his training to reinforce that we play our game

I will say though and this was a key on why the players played better! We were in admin - nothing else mattered but our survival and we passed on our gratefulness to these players and supported them even when they screwed up.

Just my tuppence worth

Even better than that - we are only 3 points off 4th place, and it`s not beyond the bounds of possibility that at 5pm on Saturday we will be in a play-off position. (All if`s and but`s and maybe`s, but it`s still there to be grasped.,)

If we beat Queens Park and Ayr lose to St Johnstone, then we go above Ayr on Goals Scored or possibly on Goal Difference. Our league position would then depend on Raith`s result in Dingwall.

We’re still in with a shout, and until we’re out of the promotion race, Lennon and the team have my full support. If the reception he got before the game is anything to go by, the “Lennon Out” campaign severely lacks numbers.

Interesting to me that Lennon changed formation mid-game last night and also made good use of the bench. Both made us better. Seems to me the kind of thing you hope for in a manager? He can`t really help it if goalies chuck goals in, strikers miss sitters or referees don`t give us penalties. I`m not saying he`s brilliant, but who would folk bring in? The ones whonqwee available in recent months have been the likes of Kettlewell, Imrie, Docherty, Murray and Davidson. Murray is the only one there you`d say has had any sort of positive impact?

I definitely want NL to stay and he has my backing. But if you are asking who would do better, then the answer is most of the championship managers at the moment, at least they are not any worse! Some are doing so with a much smaller budget!

This 2 year plan doesn’t really seem to be developing unless we go on a big unbeaten run! In the last 10 games we have the worst record in the league!

If we finish in the bottom half of the table is that a springboard to push for promotion next year? It just feels we bring in players who are no better than the ones we have and just end up warming the bench!

Just watched the Arbroath highlights. It felt like a defensive shambles! We also looked slow, not closing teams down, and then there is the goalkeeping errors!!

So what is the cause of our inconsistency, is it bad players/ recruitment, is it bad coaching, is it a failure to get the team motivated?

I am not having a go at the Management or players just trying to be objective.

However, the buck does stop with the manager, unfortunately for NL so whatever is the root of the problem he is responsible for sorting it. If we asked NL what improvements have been made to the team and overall performances what would the answer be?

I think the plan was to bring in younger players this season, bed them in a bit and then see what we need in the summer to make a proper push next season.

When we got to the end of the summer transfer window at the start of this season it was apparent to me we were not attempting to mount a serious title challenge.

There are several high earners who will be out of contract at the end of this season with little hope of renewal. How that budget is utilised going forward will define how next season goes. If spent wisely on good experienced pros who have the quality to be very effective at this level it could be very exciting.

We are an overly young team just now and we are seeing the predictable consequences of that. We look naive at times and at times have been bullied. We lack on park leadership.

I think Lennon is the right man to address this in the summer and will do so well if he is given free reign in the transfer window to sign a “ready to win now” team rather than advancing a project another year. I think next season is the right time to go for it. If we don’t recruit a bit more experience with quality then we will still struggle.

I’ve been saying it for years but there is no substitute for experience in the Championship to get you out of it.
We don’t have enough seasoned pros playing week in week out just now to bring on the young players.

But, we are where we are and have a model the board are committed to so the secret is to keep these younger boys playing for us as long as possible and get some momentum.

In two years, these guys won’t be a young team anymore but a team with a fair amount of experience.

That`s because they have a different agenda to the folk who know what they are doing. Some fans just want instant success and believe they are entitled to it even if it means sacking managers who don`t comply with their agenda, or do things according to their limited understanding.
The same individuals are guilty on a regular basis.

The management are focused on the longer term success rather than the boom and burst that some fans can`t see beyond.
We are at a level where several teams have little between them and it only takes a slightly below or above par performance from either side to affect the result. A couple of bad ref calls or a wee rub o the green can decide any match in this league.

We have a bigger budget but it isnt so significantly bigger to make a big difference at this level. There are enough available players to fill every team quite evenly.
One or two signature players won`t make a significant difference.

It will take time to build an experienced consistent team. Meanwhile it looks like we are heading in the right direction.

There is also the business side. Nobody has bottomless pockets. It has always been the plan to develop and sell young talent.

Thanks, that makes sense. Hopefully the youngsters will mature with experience. Think our back 3 are really good, and Fraser and Gilmour have been impressive 👍

There is only so much a manager can control. He cant legislate for individual errors, sending offs or poor decision making. That has to be addressed by the players at the end of the day.

We`re just going through a sticky patch.

Neil Lennon for me is still a big deal for the Pars, and the type that might thrive here

He`s clearly still passionate, his knowledge is immense.

I`m still quite excited by all this, I get our players are too young, but this has been acknowledged already.

As soon as we hit a bad run, this forum fills up with guys we`ve never heard from- they are silent when we beat Hibs etc
