Bellingham showing his quality in a big way. England had 3 total shots in the first half, and he scores 2 goals and then prevents what looked like a certain goal.
Mexican goal makes it game on. I don’t think England can sit deep for 45 mins and keep Mexico out. Second half should be tasty.

No one said anything about the foul called on Saka for a free kick that led to the first Mexican goal. They did not replay it here, but it looked a total dive by the Mexican player — based on what I saw and Saka’s reaction. I don’t know if anyone saw it differently or the biased pundits there had a view.
Ref was from Australia and did an excellent job in that atmosphere. VAR crew was very good as well.

Mexico lacked the quality to create some clear cut chances. England gave up the wide areas and happy to head balls out and block shots.
Mexican lad went over on his ankle and has ligament damage for sure, but commentators never even discussed that. 10 v 10 for last five mins.
Bellingham had a very good game. Don’t particularly like him, but credit on his performance.
Pickford was also very good.
Kane’s post match interview was comical

England should make the final though if they play Argentina in the semi it`ll be interesting. That said I`m not entirely convinced Argentina will get past Columbia but I`m not entirely convinced Columbia will get past Switzerland. I`m far more certain England will despatch Norway. Norway and their players are well known to England and again England have a huge advantage in terms of quality.

That was a great result for England in the Azteca stadium. Not only beating Mexico on home soil but also the impact of the altitude. I think they will beat Norway and then its all to play for in the semi`s. A rwally good team performance where Kane and Bellingham produced the goods when it mattered. Fair play to them.

Think it`s England`s to lose now. They`ll beat Norway easily (they will probably concede but Norway has an inferior defence and England have more firepower on the bench if they need to change it), Argentina are no great shakes if they even get past Columbia, and while France and probably Spain are better teams, those two playing in a semi final where it might go the distance and will be a physically and mentally gruelling game, tips it in England`s favour. What an awful World Cup all round.

Mexico committed soccer suicide last night.
First goal, midfielder stopped tracking Bellingham, he was berated by another Mexican player. It was just lazy.
Second goal. Mexico were all over the place defensively, still reeling from the first goal. They switched off completely.
Third goal, just a hopeful punt up field that Gordon reacted to brilliantly but the Mexican keeper was just a split second slower in doing so.
Mexico just seemed to run out of ideas in the last twenty mins and could not break down the packed England defence. There was a couple of mins late on where Mexico put three crosses in succession right out of the park..pitiful..
What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

Norway I thought were deserved winners against Brazil and Haaland is a different beast to what they`ve come up against so far. Very intrigued to see how that one ends up.

Was an entertaining game. Idiotic of Bellingham to get himself needlessly carded in added time which I think means he will miss the Norway match. Tuchel will be fuming. While Kane is a great finisher, I hate his constant cheating (diving all the time or sticking his leg out to the side to manufacture contact). If I was in charge of FIFA I would want to provide strong disincentives for cheating. That would soon stamp it out. Maybe in the near future an AI-VAR will be able to pretty reliably determine whether there has been a deliberate cheating attempt to unnaturally dive and roll about in response to the slightest or no contact, or where someone has deliberately stuck a leg out to the side to manufacture a contact. For me these should all be yellow card offences. Perhaps these should possibly be upgraded to red cards if committed in the penalty box in the same way a professional last man foul can be red rather than yellow.

Ok England have had a fairly comfortable passage
through to the quarter finals. Mexico are not a great side
but they are still good. England should beat Norway and
go through to the semi final. If they can beat the likes of
Argentina, Spain, Portugal and France, then will deserved
winners, but I hope that won`t happen.

Don`t go there mate.....was waiting on Bellingham being booked for £820 on a bet builder, unless i dozed off unaware he didn`t get booked.
In addition to that i am positive Kane got booked for sarcastically reacting to the VAR decision but no mention of it anywhere, everyone from press association to FIFA stats website has Guehi being carded around the same time....

Brazil went 6 weeks before the Mexico 70 WC started. That`s how long expert medical advice said it would take to boost red corpuscles enough to compensate for less oxygen in the rarefied air at that altitude. We have to concede that England did well to manage their disadvantage.
