Ken, the season starts on Saturday and we have no idea what we’ll be wearing?
I’m assuming they might wear the new kit on Saturday and on sale Sunday onwards.

Every year it seems that we dither on getting the new kit released - why is this? Surely it`s not a business decision to say `We`ll hold of until the season has already started and people have began to go off on summer holidays before we release the shirts.`

The club have absolutely smashed it out the park as far as new kits go the last couple of seasons.
The black/gold top and the skids top - the last thing they could be called is amatuerish. Must`ve sold 1000s.

When we changed from Joma to Errea we were told supply issues would be a thing of the past , late delivery of strips are a problem .

to do a specific re-run of strips for the cup final (assuming various promises etc were made to do so) and then not have them for the said event is indeed amateurish... over-promise and under delivery at its finest.

Can hardly call it amateurish when the delivery company ‘lost the order’. They were quite clear from hey outside that the delivery of the order was due very shortly before the cup final, hence asking purchasers to pick up in person. Delivery company let them down but ultimately the supporters received their tops and the club received the revenue from that.

To go into a new season with last season`s kit would be amateurish. Not having the new kit on sale for fans before the season starts is amateurish, we haven`t even seen what it looks like!! Now the club statement says there would be news between now and Saturday, that can only mean we are at least going to see it.

Kits came out on 11th last year. They’ll have been signed off several months ago but we’ll be far from top of Errea’s pecking order in terms of production and delivery.
Annoying needing to wait sure but will be worth the wait hopefully! A title winning shirt in waiting 🤞

Last season the kit was launched on the Friday then we played Hearts the next day? It`s probably going to be the same again this year. I`m kind of seeing it as a positive. we aren`t rushing stuff out to fund gaps over the summer (tickets, strips, sponsorships, advertising etc) as we don`t have the same cash flow issues any longer?

It all depends how the money is split up maybe kit sales go to only one thing and they don’t need that money until the start of the season is my only thought to why we leave it so late every year because some people blame the supplier but even before we were with this supplier the same problems

It is poor that fans will not have the new top for the first game of the season, but I doubt the club are holding back on purpose.
It is something that requires sorting in the future and no doubt the club will try and address this, after all it is not the first time they have been let down.
On to the design. I would like to see a top incorporating the King Robert The Bruce like the Abbey in future designs

Stirling managed this a few seasons back, with the Wallace Monument and I notice Raith’s away shirt this season have the main stand incorporated into it. Certainly can be done (by Joma) and could be a good idea.

Mid to late 90s I`d say. We had the same candy striped strip 94/5 and 95/6. I think by the next one, or one after, it was changing every year.
At one point though, I`m sure, we alternated with home and away strips. So a new one every year but it lasted for two.
Now it`s three strips every year.

The club can provide a further update regarding our 2026/27 kit launches.
Due to a late change, we have had to switch the launches of our home and away kits.
Our intention had been to unveil the brand new home kit ahead of today`s Premier Sports Cup opener against East Kilbride. However, due to delivery issues, East Kilbride are only able to wear an all-white kit, resulting in a clash with our new home strip.
As a result, we will now debut our brand new away kit this afternoon.
The digital launch will take place at 1pm, before the first team wears the new away kit for the first time when they take to the field for our opening competitive fixture of the season at 3pm.
The away kit will not go on immediate sale. We will confirm sales dates as soon as possible.
Our brand new 2026/27 home kit will now make its on-pitch debut on Tuesday evening, when we host Dumbarton in our opening competitive home fixture of the season.
Supporters will then be able to purchase the new home kit from 10am on Wednesday, both online and in store.

Unfortunately I don`t see this selling well at all, bit of a mish-mash of everything.
As a club you have two goals one to produce a kit different to your home strip ( amazingly some fail in this, a cynic would say in order to market a 3rd kit) and to offer something that your support wants to wear. I just don`t see enough wanting to wear those colours.
Let`s hope the home kit is a beauty.

Not a fan of this I can see what they are attempting to do but for me we don’t have anything associated with purple. Red is our historical away colours. Green I don’t mind as it’s in the club crest.
We had a classic purple and green top when French played for us

It looks horrible. Terrible design, awful colours. Can`t see them selling much of that. If the home shirt is the same design in black and white that`ll be brutal too.
Hopefully the Barbara Dickson themed 3rd kit is a belter

I though there was a commitment by the club to the fans that the home strip will always be black and white stripes and the away red, this would have been better as a 3rd strip.

Has that ever been a commitment? 🤔 had plenty of yellow/blue away kits

Don’t remember it ever being a commitment, but personally I wish it was

Re the question about the club`s commitment to black and white kit.
A Supporters` Charter was agreed with the DAFC Board shortly after the club was taken over by Pars United CIC in 2013. In the Charter, among many other items, was the following commitment for team colours - relevant part in bold:
• The name of Dunfermline Athletic Football Club will not be changed without the prior agreement of meetings of both the Supporters’ and Patrons’ Councils.
• The predominantly black and white team colours of DAFC, since the year 1912, will not be changed without the prior agreement of meetings of both the Supporters’ and Patrons’ Councils.
• The unique triangular badge of DAFC, designed by Colin Dymock in 1957, will not be significantly changed without the prior agreement of meetings of both the Supporters’ and Patrons` Councils.
Until recently, these commitments were (I think) still on the official DAFC website, but I can no longer find them on the new site.
Obviously with the purchase of the club by Park Bench the concept of the Supporters` and Patrons` Councils having a role in club decisions has gone, but I would hope that the spirit of most of the commitments would still be honoured. I have a copy of the complete DAFC Supporters` Charter should anyone want it

Let’s hope that is the case. Tradition is a huge part of football and means so much to the fans.

Why would anyone change the colours from black and white? Don`t really see the need for a charter, it would be a bit daft for anyone to think to change.
Black and white stripes one season , candy the next season is pretty much the norm. Apart from these, in relatively recent times we`ve had black with white pinstripes, all white with one stripe, all white, a kind of mad psychedelic check thing, a hallucinatory trippy stripey thing etc.
We don`t have a strip that`s really set in stone like Airdrie or Hibs, black and white (maybe some red to brighten it up) vaguely stripey is good enough. As for a charter for a change strip to be red? Are you having a laugh? Do something completely different every season please.
The badge is unique in football, it`s a thing of beauty on top of being triangular - that shouldn`t be changed much.

We had a red and black away strip with a badge that featured the letters D.A.F.C. Instead of the club crest. It may have been agreed at a meeting, but it was definitely a change.
This is Andy Tod`s world and we are lucky to live in it.

What? We don`t have away colours. I`ve seen us wearing lilac, blue, red, now purple and green. This is a modern version of a classic pats top

I think it would have looked better if it was all purple rather than purple and green.

Purple and green together was never going to be pretty in my opinion.
I know it might sell but I hate it 😆

Worth noting that despite being introduced in 1957, the club badge was removed 6 years later and only resurfaced in 1986 season.

I’d rather have the Landmark original than this new interpretation. The collar area just doesn’t look right. Hopefully enough folk want to buy it so the club don’t lose a lot of money on it. I will keep my fingers crossed for the home kit. I normally pick up at least one strip a year.
It’s a shame we never used the Skids strip more or had that as an option to use more this season. I love that strip and it has a great football, social and geographic significance to our club, the Dunfermline area and it’s famous people.

There`s nothing to stop it being this season`s third strip as well.
Never mind though, deluding myself as I might be, not long until we have reason for a Days In Europa strip.

The Skids top is a thing of beauty, great work from the marketing team (if we have one) to do that.
Hard to top that, Skids have a special place in music, they still get airplay-so it got worldwide exposure. Maybe a Big Country top, but can`t see anything else- Nazareth ? That`s really a different era, as for famous people, I doubt it a Robert the Bruce top and certainly not an Andrew Carnegie top would get people excited.
Didn`t realise the badge was dropped for so long, but that was before strips etc became such a huge thing- also the club was on a long term downward trend- as a kid I can`t remember getting excited about strips, it was only as a teenager they became a big thing
