..and holidays, apartments, footie private boxes, personal photographer, and free this that and the other and more coming out every day…

TV interviews about nothing else, policies and plans completely overshadowed by this self serving greed

I voted for this lot of scumbags . Utterly disgusted.

The only thing cringeworthy about this whole “scandal” is the fact the media didn’t give a flying f**k about the previous government doing 100x worse in regard to this…….

Westminster corruption is rife, the "expenses" policy needs a serious reform!

Although it was supposed to have been reviewed some years ago, after previous scandals.

Was the new Labour MP Douglas Alexander not involved?🤔

With all the well-paid advisers political parties have how is it they don`t seem to anticipate the bad publicity that comes from stuff like this and change their behaviour? `Power corrupts` is true I think.

I am well aware that this kind of stuff has been going on for years but I expected better from this lot.

The lack of judgement and self awareness is appalling.

As PM and party leader, Starmer himself should be way above that but he’s as bad as the rest. He didn’t even have the guts to face the cameras yesterday, but sent along his deputy instead

I am astonished that you actually believed Labour would be any different !

There is no Labour Party anymore. Labour are only electable because they had to change into….Tories. They may even out do the Tories and that’s saying something.

Anybody in Scotland who believes that these wretches in WM actually give a jot about Scotland or the Scottish people are complete fools. Did folks who voted for them really believe the rhetoric? Seriously ? They are pathological liars the lot of them. I thought it might take two or three years for people in Scotland to realise that Labour are no better than the Tories……..it seems it has only taken a matter of weeks. But will we ever learn ?

We need out of this Union or we are well and truly f******

What an opportunity we missed in 2014

The embarrassing thing is there`s no investigation into this yet a throwaway comment about stamps resulted in an investigation into the SNP.

I`ve said this many times before but they need to get a grip at Westminster and do the following:

- Move out of Westminster, turn it into a museum
- Do away with second home allowances
- Build a modern, fit for purpose parliament in the North of England.
- Build a block of flats for MPs to use next door complete with canteen with the same suppliers used for schools
- ALL gifts should be refused
- Review of party donations. Dorries openly said the Tories were doing what the the donors wanted. That`s disgusting.

When I worked in the private sector we had to justify every single bus/train ticket. This should be the case for MPs. We didn`t get cheap bars or food. We didn`t get discount travel.

You certainly weren`t allowed "gifts " in the Civil Service!

I used to "spend " 2.5 million every quarter, courtesy of the MOD and that was wayback in the early 70`s.

Holyrood is no different really. The ones with the highest expenses tend to be the ones who don`t live a commutable distance from Edinburgh. So if a similar approach was taken to purchases or build a hotel/set of apartments, the need for hotels/apartments/second homes is removed.

Perhaps they could build it in Dunfermline so all the MSPs get to enjoy the woeful "service" ScotRail deliver in Fife? It`ll be even better after Friday when the tickets double in price.

Holyrood is different. Now there are spongers and dodgy politicians in every government and parliament in the world so in that respect you are right, however WM is stuffed full of politicians that take the utter p*** in the self entitlement stakes.

Holyrood remember ( well Scot Gov ) has not awarded its MSP’s a pay rise since 2015. Unthinkable in the cess pit in Londinium.

And to think so called intelligent people voted for Labour expecting change…🤣

What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

Hopes and prayers are with the sausages. We need to cease fire and really grill the perpetrators.

In all seriousness, there is an issue in the UK with people falling upwards and that appears to have now affected politicians significantly. Why is Keir Starmer Labour leader? Surely some irony that the previous one was ousted because of his views on Palestine yet now people are actively protesting saying the same things and no-one bats an eyelid. It`s astonishing how much the media controls the narrative and how dense the average Brit has become.

Over the past 3 years Anas Sarwar was gifted hospitality packages by SRU, SFA for footie and rugby matches also got packages for the Tattoo. All this totalling going on £20k. He’s well paid and missus a dentist, why can’t he pay his own way?

Now emerging Starmer accepted £20k luxury accommodation so his son would get peace and quiet to swot for his exams. A helpful blogger has now pointed out those exams were done and dusted before this period of quiet revision…

So that’s another porker!

It`s beginning to look like all politicians from all parties are a bunch of greedy little piggies with their snouts in the trough. In the financial services industry there are extremely strict rules in place regarding what gifts can be offered and accepted to help combat corruption and bribery, it`s about time the same type of rules were rigidly enforced on political parties and politicians.

Our own local MP Graham Downie, took an all expenses paid trip to Israel from the lobby group Labour Friends of Israel, which certainly brings into question his impartiality on the genocide taking place in Gaza.

Donations to political parties need to be stopped, it`s straight out bribery, the politicians are in the pocket of their paymasters.

The hospitality packages for Sarwar and other MSP’s were all within the rules and were declared. His just happens to be the highest in cash terms over the last three years.

What’s in it for the various donors though?

Starmer is struggling with explaining some of his. Either poor memory or poor judgment in the first place.

I only got free specs from the NHS as a kid and always bought my own clothes from my first wage onwards!

According to polling by YouGov, 80% of Britons do not think politicians should be allowed to accept gifts like clothes or concert tickets.

That figure includes 29% of people who think that it was acceptable for politicians like Keir Starmer to have accepted donations like this, because that was within the rules, but that the rules should be changed to stop this; and 51% who said accepting gifts should be banned, and that even knowing the rules allowed it, it was wrong for the politicians who did accept gifts to do so.

I`m surprised Angela Rayner, a single mum, social housing tenant, who followed the traditional route into Labour politics via trade union involvement, didn`t see the potential pitfalls of accepting such gifts. She`s had her share apparently, including holiday accommodation for her and her partner in a New York apartment.

And therein lies the problem. It makes no difference, none whatsoever who we elect as our MP. We still won’t have a maternity hospital, we still won’t have a proper hospital, the high street will still be a dump and Fife council will still continue to underspend in Dunfermline.

The only significant change we can ever make is the one we did not take ten years ago.

Things will only get worse and we only have ourselves to blame. What a shame for our kids and grandkids, but we have foisted this on them.

Fife council underspend in Dunfermline - Dunfermline could declare independence from Fife?

"What an opportunity we missed in 2014." - Yeah we could have been even further up shrek creek.

We have a loony governments in both Westminster and the pretendy parliament who are obsessed with the net zero climate scam.

We should be fracking, we should be digging coal, we are an energy rich nation(s) who are believing in an environmental conspiracy theory.

We have consigned our children and children`s children to a future of poverty and our elderly to cold, cold winters for many years to come.

Not to mention the most terrifying thing, that if these climate zealots actually manage to achieve their carbon targets they could wipe out every plant and animal on earth.

There were a few climate induced mass extinctions during the period covered by that graph. The planet`s ecosystem went through more than a few shifts which created conditions which were intolerable to the continuation of a huge chunk of the life which existed.

One of the favourite tools of climate change deniers is to suggest that climate change zealots are claiming that it would somehow kill the actual planet. We`re not concerned about the planet, it`ll be fine and life will adapt to the new climate.

Human civilization is not so adaptable though.

I`m sure you`re aware, Bletchley, but that graph you posted came from a Trump advisor and is, as one might expect, "fake news".

The hospital and Fife council notes are very much correct though and would not be resolved by independence. Fife Council and the Fife HSCP are only interested in central Fife. That`s been true for almost 30 year.

You`ve got to laugh at Unionists who dismiss Holyrood as a `pretendy parliament` then criticise it for the lack of a maternity hospital or a `proper hospital` in West Fife. Maybe if it had the full powers of a national parliament it would be better able to find the resources to provide such services.

Not really given it was Sturgeon as Health Minister who signed off the downgrading of QMH whilst rejecting a similar proposal in the west.

Fife Council predates devolution but in my opinion should be disbanded. It would be far more effective bringing back the district council areas. It would be arguably less financially efficient but would mean informed local decision making whereas right now it`s chaos. Planners in Glenrothes making decisions on West Fife without even a visit. Let`s not forget it was councillors in East Fife who signed off the ridiculous McDonalds at Duloch!

It`s certainly complicated, trying to formulate an equation for the whole planet is not something you are going to learn from a high school book and anyone who suggests it`s that simple obviously is seriously lacking in critical thought.

It is funny that the real "climate change deniers" are the ones who cry to claim we are in an unprecedented time of the climate changing, which we obviously are not.

The word "denier" is used for a specific reason, to try and stifle debate, it`s an unscientific strategy and an unscientific word because the whole house of cards collapses when scepticism is applied the multiple trillion dollar "climate industry" and it is more akin to a religion than an area of science.

It`s another case of "trust the science" where a lot of dilettantes who do not have the synaptical ability to grasp an esoteric subject delegate their thinking to others.

I had a feeling that Bletchly would fail to notice the way I used "denier" and "zealot" (his word for those who follow the majority of the science) together, but would pick up on "denier" and go on a rant about it whilst failing to address any of the actual points made by anyone.

This is because, in the true spirit of science, he has started with a conclusion he wishes to reach and has then hunted for evidence to confirm it. The evidence doesn`t even have to be true as far as he`s concerned, it just has to be convincing. To seem true.

Ideology trumps truth for the right.

If this were 1987 he`d be showing us graphs from Philip Morris apparently debunking the link between smoking and cancer.

Actually Bletchley, the principles of enthalpy of Chemical bonds and vibrational energy levels within molecules is taught at both Higher and Advanced Higher level Chemistry and Physics in Scotland. Folk like yourself often point to water in the atmosphere being a "heat trapping gas" and try to use this to claim that climate change is "fake or a "hoax", but very often said folk lack an understanding of the chemical principles behind the phenomenon.

Essentially, molecules can take in energy at quantised levels until a threshold known as the Ground State Dissociation Energy is breached, at which point the molecule dissociates. The energy required to break an O-H bond is far lower than that required to break a C=O bond (note that this is a double covalent bond). The light coming from the sun is of a wavelength corresponding to an energy strong enough to break an OH bond (Plancks constant E=hf) but NOT a C=O bond. The CO2, CO and NOX molecules emitted by combustion are at higher vibrational energy levels because of the heat of the combustion reaction and will basically flee aboot and crash into other molecules such as the Oxygen and Nitrogen in your diagram, dispersing their kinetic energy - see Collision Theory - until said molecules return to the ground state, thus heating the earth. The increased quantity of CO2 molecules in the atmosphere take in sunlight and vibrate and flee aboot again because they cant dissociate and so the cycle continues. And do you really want to try and claim that CO2 is not more abundant in the atmosphere than prior to Industrialisation?

All of those principles mentioned above, I learned in Higher and Advanced Higher Chemistry and Physics in Scotland.

If you alternatively said that Scientists don`t know about the exact mechanisms by which a global temperature increase will affect natural weather phenomena, then you`d actually be presenting a valid point. As it stands, you`re actually just making a fool of yourself by denying observable Chemical and Physical phenomena.

The principle is though that you shouldn`t really spread false information about a topic that you clearly have no idea about. Or will you now simply claim that I have been brainwashed by "Left Wing Universities"?

Anyway, apologies to the other posters for the off topic post. Climate Change deniers just dae ma boax in!

Back on topic, Rosie Duffield MP has resigned from the parliamentary Labour Party in protest against all the gifts and `donations` accepted by Starmer and others and the perceived lack of empathy with those struggling to make ends meet. She will now sit as an independent MP. Quite a brave decision although I think there should be a by-election when a sitting MP resigns the whip.

Good on her. It`s not a recent thing, but the Labour party are in no way living the values they`re supposed to represent. The term "champagne socialists" comes to mind. They`re not alone though. So many MPs from across all parties just seem to be there to be on the gravy train. It`s maybe time to introduce some new schemes like the two donor cap and a cut in expenses if you earn 50k?

I suppose the question is has she felt this way for a while but preferred to wait until she had secured a five year deal to be an MP on a salary of 91k per annum plus expenses or did her road to Damascus moment only happen inside the last ten weeks.

And although my eyes were open
They just might as well be closed

Was very interesting hearing Tories claiming about Labour telling porkies to the public today on the telly. Been a while since that`s been the focus!

Good on here for sticking to her principles, even if there are questions about the timing. I suspect she may not be the last.

Did Starmer tell her that he was planning on taking money away from pensioners and taking extravagant gifts towards himself before the election?

That`s the key fact I think.

Not just Starmer either. I heard one of her colleagues the other day saying that Taylor Swift tickets were just too hard to turn down and then you have Angela Raynor taking freebies in the shape of New York apartment accommodation.

And although my eyes were open
They just might as well be closed

You have no clue who Rosie Duffield is or what she has been subjected to do you?

Duffield is one of these Dinosaurs who think a woman can`t have a penis and has been subject to the same vitriolic hate that JK Rowling has been lavished with for having what is called "Gender Critical Beliefs". Which is knowing basic human anatomy that caveman could grasp that seems to allude many modern day politicians.

When Rosie stated that "only women can have a cervix", which is true, no matter how much dipstick David Lammy thinks a man can grow one, Two Tier Keir Starmer stated on the Andrew Marr show in 2021 that it was "something that shouldn`t be said" and was "not right".

Rosie Duffield was the first ever Labour MP from Canterbury, a constituency that was founded in 1295 (TWELVE NINETY FIVE) with a 20% swing from the Tories in 2017 and scraping home with a 187 majority. She increased her majority against the tide of Boris Johnston`s landslide in 2019.

The idea that Duffield had secured a nice little earner hanging onto Starmer`s coattails and has now jumped ship could not be further from the truth.

You do have to wonder how folk such as Duffield are passing the Labour screening process if they are prepared to just jump ship like that. I`d be very curious to see for sure whether the Labour Government is actually as unpopular as portrayed in the media and whether this could even go as far as Labour being kicked out after 1 term. It certainly does feel like the UK media is very Tory-leaning and that England has very much shifted in that political direction. The two unknowns though are how capable Reform will be in picking up Tory votes or if they will simply split the vote and give labour a lifeline. The Tories don`t seem to be able to offer anyone of the same standing as the likes of Cameron either.

I also certainly got a wee chuckle with how Bletchley just completely side stepped responding to my post about the "Climate Change conspiracy". Nothing like silence for an admission of "A dinna ken".

The Labour peer Waheed Alli is under investigation by a parliamentary watchdog over a potential breach of the code of conduct, writes the Guardian’s political correspondent Eleni Courea.

Alli is being investigated after a complaint that he has not registered his interests correctly. He was listed on the Lords standards commissioners’ website on Wednesday as being subject to an inquiry. “The fact that an investigation is taking place does not mean that the rules have been broken,” the notice stated.

Lord Alli, a media businessman and a major Labour party donor who is worth an estimated £200m, has been thrust into the spotlight over tens of thousands of pounds worth of gifts he gave to Keir Starmer and Angela Rayner.

Agreed RSP - it`s one of those language tricks that get used all the time to allow press and politicians to hold one set of people to higher account than another.

So we get ex-pats vs migrants and motorists vs drivers for example. One word for when they want to vilify a group and another for when they want to elicit sympathy for them. Motorists pay road tax, drivers drink-drive. Ex-pats are wholesome people living the dream abroad, migrants are criminal parasites.

Political corruption vs political donations is the same idea.

It seems Stammer`s uncle must have served on the General Belgrano as he claimed he was torpedoed during the Falkland`s War, the only ship to be sunk by a torpedo in the conflict, certainly no British ship was hit by one.

Education secretary Bridget Phillipson who during a outburst against private schools showed her do-as-I-say-not-as-I-do attitude by stating "Our students need careers advice more than private schools need AstroTurf pitches." was only hours before photographed playing (her regular weekly) game of hockey on...yoiu guessed it...a private school AstroTurf pitch!

And home secretary and open borders enthusiast Yvette Cooper has been enjoying 4 free Taylor Swift tickets after lobbying the MET to give Swift a blues and twos police escort at her London performance.

The hypocrisy of these people is astounding, most new administrations enjoy a honeymoon period but it seems Two Tier Keir`s lot have been jilted at the alter.

Anyone taking offence/hilarity out of Starmer mis speaking saying torpedoed rather than bombed has a real issue tbh.
