Just read that UK gov has announced a cool £20 million for the regeneration of Kirkcaldy town centre and promenade in the budget. Good for them but I wonder why Dunfermline is continually overlooked ?
What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

I wondered why Kirkcaldy was being singled out. Gordon Brown having a word in the Chancellor`s ear maybe?
You have to laugh at folk thinking Scotland would not be capable of running its own affairs when Westminster can`t manage to make a Budget announcement without it being leaked by a public body independent of the Government.

The early release was shambolic. The hollering over the actual budget announcement from Reeves was just as bad. Some of it was inaudible because of the rabble being blurted out by both sides.
Scotland should be thankful! Over £800m from our masters coming our way……

Well if KDY is getting millions from UK Gov then surely Dunfermline should be getting a bigger share of the pot from Fife Council funds that are delivered from Holyrood ?
Maybe our invisible Red Tory MP can fight our corner?

Reading the BBC earlier and it`s got one of those articles where they talk to all different people with different circumstances and how they feel about the budget. One of them was a guy with a household income above 100k who is not happy with the reduction in the cash ISA limit from 20k to 12k. Will cost him a couple of hundred pounds in interest per year. I`m not sure if he`s classed as one of the fabled `squeezed middle`.

The very well know loss aversion in action.
I`ve known loads of people who are massively focused on minimise tax for retirement and pension reasons even if they don`t actually need the money.
It could be they have only one earner in that couple and they want to keep below 100k, or he wants to keep below the higher tax rate at 50k or wherever it is.
And even if they benefit elsewhere they`ll be ignoring that and focusing only on the loss I`m sure.

Yeah, good one. Everyone knows the money has gone to central Fife since 1996. Easily the worst public realm in Fife when you go down Dunfermline High Street. The "City Square" is just a cheap waste of time and they know it.

Triple lock will mean my 71yr old wife will pay tax next year on her State pension, first time since she worked in 2018!
Someone calculated that the tax paid would be the equivalent of the winter fuel payment, smoke and mirrors?🤔😡

People below 35k would have been better off with the personal allowance being increased.
Chancellor on the radio telling me how great it is she has decided to take more money off people and spend it how she thinks her back benchers think it should be spent, even though the vast majority of the voting public disagree with it.
I suspect much of this is at the feet of that weirdo Torsten Bell.
It might be nice if she linked a thank you to the British people to supporting the investments to improve things. It`s their money, not hers.

She might be alright LA. Once the new triple lock boost is applied the weekly state pension is a maximum of £241 quid a week or £12549 per annum. The personal tax allowance is staying at £12570.

The new pension rate is only £21 above the tax threshold. Government have stated if this is your sole income they will not apply tax - would be £4.20 per year. Would cost far more to administer!
