A prisoner who was released early as part of the scheme to ease prison overcrowding is back inside. Within days he was arrested for stealing £100 worth of detergent from North London supermarkets and sentenced to 8 months` imprisonment.

The poor guy was probably just trying to make a clean breast of it.
