Lots of good soundtracks. My favourite would probably either be Local Hero or Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence. Both can make me tear up.

AGYG did win an Oscar - but not for a specific song.
Good call though.
A wee clue - the singer's son became a well known actor, and three grandchildren also in the business.

Straight Outta Compton has a good sound track but I don't think that would go down too well on here.

I think its mutually beneficial a lot of the time. A lot of good tracks have had new life breathed into them after featuring on popular films.
Steelers Wheel - Stuck in the middle
House of Pain - Jump Around
Jackie Wilson - Higher and Higher
Gary Jules - Mad World
Samuel Barber - Adagio for Strings
There are way too many to list.
When you get someone that can connect the right song to the right scene in a film both the film and the artist benefit.

Saw the film Schemers at the cinema the other day.
Has a really good soundtrack and is a pretty decent film as well.
Set in Dundee it tells the story of music promoter Davy McLean who went on the be manager of Placebo.
Worth a watch for anyone looking to go to the cinema just now.

Movie doesn't go into that. Just one of the things that comes up at the end of the film saying what happened to everyone after.
Edit - A bit of research shows Molko was a kid when he lived in Dundee. They met when an at the time unsigned Placebo approached McLean to try and get them some gigs in 1995.

I went to see Sergio Leone's trilogy of westerns, starring Clint Eastwood, at the cinema when they first came out and the music score by Ennio Morricone was simply stunning. For you younger dotnetters, the films were:-
1. For a fistful of dollars
2. For a few dollars more
3. The good, the bad and the ugly.
Not your average Sunday League player.
