EEP, the issue is that cases in schools are incredibly low, hospitalisations even lower and "only" two deaths. The kids think they're therefore invincible and don't consider the spread to more vulnerable people.

For clarity though, transmission in school is tiny. The bigger issue is outside school in the community.

Sounds like a fud. Have they offered a reason for not testing? My friend's daughter is seemingly testing twice a week and it sounds like the almost instant tests they're doing.

Unfortunately for your forum agenda, we will all be back to close to normal this year.....thanks to the vaccine you so dearly wish to avoid.

Oh really, be quiet, try thinking, I don't agree with any of it, i'm utterly appalled at the SNP continuing to ignore everything but covid.
The tiers are staying, like k said, they'll keep dangling the carrot, the idiots will still think they're going to get a bite.
You think we'll get normal back?
Variants variants variants, no chance.
As for that vaccine there are some horrendous side effects being felt by healthy people, may be rare but when higher than my chances of getting ir being harmed by covid, not taking the risk, especially when they keep telling me nothing changes if I take the vaccine, their repeated words, not mine.

I won't have to.
We have to get below 20 cases in 10000 to get a relatively open tier, good luck with that.

I was reading about that this morning. The tiers will be much tighter this time around. Last year 150 cases per 100,000 would see you in tier 2. It will now have to be less than 50 cases per 100,000 to see you drop to tier 2. The tiers should be decided on by hospital admissions and not cases per 100,000 IMO. The whole point of this was to ease the stress on the NHS. If the hospitals aren’t overwhelmed in the next month or so, why should tiers be decided on by cases rather than hospital admissions?

Because getting us out of lockdown is not even a desire for those in charge.
I see plenty laughing, I was told to get my tin foil hat when I mentioned vaccine passports and no jab no job, now all I hear is justification, none the less I was right right we'd still be locked dow this year too....but again advised on tin head attire.
We'll see....too many in power stealing too much money and enjoying the trip, that's how our corrupt little island works.

Ms Sturgeon hopes to be able to confirm some changes to the level four restrictions.
"We will be considering if it might be possible to accelerate the exit from lockdown in any way."

Sounds like restrictions might be easing a bit quicker than first expected.

Aberdeen currently on the threshold of 20. Last 7 days just over 25. Aberdeenshire is the same. So all going well up here. Most Scottish Islands currently at 0 cases. Glasgow , Edinburgh and Stirling not doing so well. Some still in the 100's.

discussion on return to tiers is based on following WHO guidance from November which doesnt account for best part of 40% of the adult population either being vaccinated or built up antibodies from previously contracting the virus. Along with increase in testing, if you test most people you will find more cases especially asymptomatic. fife 60 cases per 100,000 at the moment so would go into tier 3.

Over the entire country there are 784 people in hospital with 71 in ICU. That is 3/4 of the capacity of louisa Jordan which in simplistic view allows every other hospital to return to "normal". We are no longer in a position where this is "overwhelming" our medical resources.

https://www.nrscotland.gov.uk/statistics-and-data/statistics/statistics-by-theme/vital-events/general-publications/weekly-and-monthly-data-on-births-and-deaths/deaths-involving-coronavirus-covid-19-in-scotland data is there to show how deadly this is. Keep in mind the abhorrent release of patients into care homes without testing for covid accounting for c.2500 deaths and that all over 70s vaccinated as well as majority of over 60s are vaccinated.

I really don't know but in Aberdeen the number per 100000 is currently sitting at 25. The test positive rate is under 2% currently. Aberdeenshire is marginally better with test positive rate at 1.2% and 22 per 100000.

ARI is currently working under capacity according to my cancer consultant. Intensive care beds are under 50% including covid patients.

I would expect both to be put in level 2 at worst.

More people vaccinated = less symptomatic disease = less people going for tests = less people testing positive = less positive cases = lower tiers.

It will be out there, but it will not be making as many people ill and will not be hospitalising and killing as many.

We should reach the threshold pretty easily.

Yep you can only travel internationally if you have a valid reason because foreign holidays are still illegal. You now have to complete a `declaration to leave` detailing why you need to travel.
I suspect in a few months many nations will require a traveller to be vaccinated before they allow entry.

Don’t worry jake, if your under 40 you’ve a good chance of getting the janssen single doser which is due to come online in a few weeks which means by June if not earlier you’ll be fully covered to travel this summer.

Now openly seeing large groups of 12-16 year olds out an about, guessing this is keeping the number of cases relatively high compared to previous lockdowns.

Expect a spike in Glasgow after yesterday. Hopefully go back to regional lockdowns soon and they will have knackered themselves but you know they will travel if there more happening somewhere else.

Back to being drenched in my own negativity….

From Aunty :-

Boris Johnson has defended the NHS Test and Trace programme after a scathing report from a committee of MPs.

The Public Accounts Committee said the scheme had failed to prevent lockdowns and there was "no clear evidence" that it had cut coronavirus infections.

And it said the cost - £37bn set aside over two years - was "staggering".
But the prime minister said it was thanks to NHS Test and Trace that schools and the economy can reopen and people can "restart their lives".

During Prime Minister`s Questions on Wednesday, Mr Johnson was asked why so much money had been spent on the system when the government said a 1% pay rise for NHS staff was all that it could afford.

"It is thanks to NHS Test and Trace that we`re able to send kids back to school and begin cautiously and irreversibly to reopen our economy and restart our lives," he said.

He also defended the 1% pay rise, saying NHS workers were at least getting an increase, unlike other public sector workers.

Track and trace in England isn't the same as in Scotland. In Scotland it's run by NHS boards using a solution provided by PHS. So if you're in Fife it'll be someone from NHS Fife who will likely call you if you test positive.
