The Russians knew how to deal with these type.
The pledge thing made me laugh, at first I thought I was reading some kind of satire, but it does seem they are serious about this- wouldn`t be out of place in North Korea.
Anyone that would seriously consider saying the pledge needs to have a long hard look at themselves, only the most brainwashed, grovelling, snivelling, servile people could even think about that

The French dealt with their Royals long before the Russians decided to follow suit.
One modern EU country binned their Monarchy in 1967.

Have you seen Frankie Boyle`s `Farewell to the Monarchy` documentary? His wokeness can sometimes be a bit on the nose, but I always feel that his heart is in the right place.
I have just watched the prog on YouTube, and it is (to my Republic-leaning ears) pretty amusing - full of clever if at times cringe-worthy, one-liners. It is worth catching the killer line at the end, though... that had me in stitches.

What an anachronism this all is. The new king is pledging an oath to the Protestant faith, effectively excluding more than 70% of UK and Commonwealth citizens.
Undoubtedly, the time is up for these creepy, expensive, entitled charlatans.
Australia will vote on a republic sooner rather than later. And doubtless, other nations in the Commonwealth will follow suit. Would an independent Scotland do the same?

I think after independence there will be a gradual move towards a republic. Maybe after ten years or so.
It`s clear that even big companies know how divisive the monarchy, and (whisper it) the union flag is here.
This was the Asda groceries page before logging on last week:
Spot the difference after logging on with a Scottish address:

Definitely not safe yet - the F1 qualifying just had the presenters waving Coronation flags & 10/15 minutes of the Englush drivers talking about it.
I don`t mind rare events taking place but I`m not interested in it seeping into things like this - tune in to hear about / watch F1 not an extention to a Coronation or World Cup coverage, for example!
People who want to watch hours of it can do so on other channels!!
Leave the sport to the sport.
Edit - I did notice today at least other channels were operating normally unlike the Queen's funeral - at least we could avoid the pomp & ceremony by watching films.

Well, I suppose that`s it for a few years. It will be some time before a royal wedding, so the next big public gig will likely be Charlie or Anne`s funeral.
In the meantime, how on earth will the royals maintain the public`s interest and enthusiasm?
Harry and Megan will have to fill that gap until one of them breaks, and the loathsome royal "experts" can then wring their hands and set their menacing gazes on new targets.

Indeed Eck, Charles sometimes looked like he would rather be anywhere else. Glum, uncomfortable, embarrassed, a bit irritated even?
Having only watched bits of it I agree that the whole thing was way way over the the top, but did he have any say in it? Whatever, I doubt such extravagance on that scale will ever be repeated again.

Even if it took in double, the issue is that it has leached money away from local councils and central government who could do real good things (including food banks…) whereas the “profits” generated by the coronation will go into private pockets. Besides… the Royal Family could easily have picked up the cost, at least that would have been a redistribution of a small portion of their obscene wealth.

There`s a chance one of the kids accidentally hit record on the remote while watching YouTube, but I can`t help thinking they decided for me (just in case I forgot in all the excitement). Deleted now, it better not be back tomorrow.
