Not much older than a teenager and probably psychologically unbalanced but since by all accounts he was shot dead, we might never know.
Sometimes, the main motivations for assassination attempts have little to do with political or any other affiliations but are just a manic desire for recognition and fame.
John Wilkes Booth, for instance, is still a well known historic figure, about 150 years after his assassination of Lincoln. His motivation seemed to be out of frustration that he thought himself too cowardly to join the Confederate army and thought, in order to regain some self pride, that killing Lincoln, was a good way to do that.
And by the way, somebody tried to shoot me on one occasion. I was cycling home from work, along the canal towpath behind Firhill, when I heard something fizzing past my ear. I looked across the other side and there was a young guy with a rifle pointing in my direction. When I reported the incident at Maryhill police station, they showed little concern. What was his motivation, I wondered, just part of his fallen human nature, I reckoned.

It looks at first glance that this is a glory hunter.
I wouldn`t rule out an assassination attempt by security forces, though. Trump is a massive risk to just about everyone except Putin.
I have always thought they would not allow him back.
Their problem is how to do it without sparking a civil war.
Trump has shat on so many folk in his lifetime. It could be anyone who finally inevitably does the deed.
I figured they have to make it look like a disgruntled Republican. Someone who finally sussed they were getting fleeced.
Republicans seem to be far more gun happy than Democrats.
Could have been Ukranian, worried about him withdrawing support or revenge from a Kurd horrendously betrayed by Trump. One of the thousands of people whose businesses he trashed with his multiple bankruptcies, a relative of someone serving jailtime due to misguided loyalty, a relative of someone who died of covid tens of thousands needlessly due to his bullshit and mishandling of the crisis.
The list goes on
The problem is that it is very likely to boost his ratings.

Immigration is a bit more complex than outlined in his post (we do have some international obligations).
But it`s a matter of fact that we`ve got many millions of people who are "choosing" not to work. And we`re allowing a lot of people in annually to fill the roles required.
It`s that problem we need to solve, through improving skills and persuading people to work rather than not. Which will need significant investment so they don`t have to look after their loved ones rather than work.

I don`t know how many times this needs said - illegal immigrants cannot claim or receive benefits.
If what is meant is "asylum seekers" then they can`t claim benefits either but will receive some support.
If you think where you are most likely to encounter large numbers of "foreigners" it`s not going to be working in finance, IT or engineering usually. It`s delivery drivers, hospitality workers and carers? Why? Because most Brits don`t want to work these jobs as they`re proper hard graft for heehaw pay. Care in particular is crying out for more workers but people aren`t there to take the jobs. You`re not telling me there aren`t Brits on benefits who could do these jobs? So do you point your finger at the feckless wasters sat on benefits? No. Of course some are lazy but the majority are stuck as it doesn`t pay to work if you`ve got kids. Rents are sky high at the moment and that`s the fault of the government, not economic migrants or people on benefits. Don`t worry though, Michelle`s still on her yacht with your money.
