I received an e-mail this morning to say the EEB website is closing down due to continually rising hosting costs. However they are planning to transfer to a new host, so effectively starting a new site. Anyone interested in engaging with it will have to re-register to enable existing data to be transferred.

Should really be using this as an opportunity to reunite as one, having two separate forums (whether here or on another central platform), silly really.

wee eck trying to stir things up…😅
EEB will always be a far superior site and when the new site is introduced I’m sure all the old posters will join and hopefully the good ones from here.

Join together, move to a purpose built out of town website and rename .Net United. Sell the old websites to supermarkets. $$$

I`ve never posted anything on EEB but I do like to visit it to see what fellow-Pars fans are saying. They do seem to be a bit more civil towards each other than is often the case on here.

The EEB is an excellent website. I post on both, as do a decent number of other Pars fans. It doesn`t have as much traffic as dotnet, but most of the posters are civil and knowledgeable.
I hope they can resolve any issues they`re currently experiencing.

I occasionally have a look on EEB but have never posted. It`s a bit of a waste of time that site, hardly any posts on it, and of the few people that do try and start a post there, it`s the same folk that also start the posts here. No idea why they feel the need to post what they have posted here on that site as well to get a couple of responses. The folk that are on it just seem to be the wee weirdos that took the hump on here years ago because they used to post a load of old cobblers and would get called out on it.
It`s a cack site and would be as well shut down. The folk that post on it can just come back here

I don`t know what happened to lead to the previous split?
I`ve very rarely been on EEB but when I do go I recognise the names of some posters that I used to like on here.
It would be good if there was some reconciliation.

I’m not 100% certain but it could have something to do with the amount of people who were wrongfully banned from here when the club went into admin dougiedave shoobox honk to name but a few maybe Brian could confirm or there again maybe not since he dished out black cards for fun in those days

Without dwelling on matters, people were banned because the club (Masterton) were threatening to sue the website. Passions were understandably running high. It was over a decade ago. Surely time to let bygones be bygones?

Would be nice for an amicable chat about reuniting taking place.
As others have mentioned, find it’s the same folk posting the same stuff on both sites with only a handful of differentials.
Dunfermline having two forums as well as obviously Pie & Bovril, really is daft.
All grown ups, club going in the right direction, maybe something us fans can do as well.

When this website started limiting speech and banning dissent during the most crucial time in the club`s history it became apparent that we couldn`t always rely on a forum with such close ties to the club
I don`t post on EEB but I`m glad it exists.

AdamAntsParsStripe hit the nail on the head.
It wasn`t me that was getting solicitors letters, it was the original posters.
I didn`t threaten to send anyone such letter. we didn`t have close ties with the club. obviously individual people got pissed off with it, but if they had changed their wordings a bit it would have helped a lot.
as for people getting banned, it was their own fault, they were publishing stuff that was getting solicitors actions.
As I was in Singapore at the time, on a different time zone. I was making sure that I wasn`t getting any attraction from said solicitors and tried to deal with things, it wasn`t easy. did they want me to take the hit - no way was I going to get any blame.
hundreds of people posted at the time and they didn`t get banned.
I also got grief for posting a survey asking about Shares being offered. The outcome was that 99.9 % of people said no way. and I fed that back to the Buy The Pars group. I didn`t support it, I just put up a survey to confirm peoples viewpoints.
it`s not me with a gripe, I got over it a long time ago, past history for reasons above.
even posted to the EEB admin other day saying how they could setup a cheap server to manage it.

Brian, I’ve seen your explanation of why folk were banned in the past so I’m not asking you to say it again but are there folk that are permanently banned or was it a temporary suspension for everyone?
I know you can’t speak about individuals either btw! Just wondering if any were permanently banned

I`ve never been anywhere near being involved in admin so I won`t attach any credibilty at all to the rest of that post. It just proves the amount of unfounded garbage that folk post on here trying to.put others down, goodness knows why.

I only asked the question so there wasn’t any confusion. I’ve heard folk away from forums saying they were permanently banned for knowing too much and that jazz…

I can understand people thinking they had a right to say things,
But their understanding and ours could well be different due to the hard times around then.
If you had been threatened with action what would you do?
It certainly was not an easy time for anybody.
It wasn`t about knowing too much, it was about how it was said on social media.

I didn`t receive a letter from Maserton`s legal team but if I did, I`d be asking questions as to how they obtained the contact details for me.

look, this is all history.
yea the reason you didn`t was because the relevant post(s) were removed.
as I have repeatedly tried to explain, I was not trying to hide information. it was because of the threat of legal action on the forum. I`ve said this for 13 years it was nothing personal.

No, the reason I did not is because I did not post anything that could be challenged legally.
Apparently, if I had - and it had slipped through the net from a moderation point of view - Masterton`s legal team would have found a way to send me a threatening letter despite only having `DA-go Par Adonis` to go by.
My parents could have been big Pars fans and admirers of the best player of all time but there`s a better chance that it isn`t my actual name.

Never pleasant to get a threatening letter from a lawyer, even if it is full of nonsense.
It is good to see the SRA clamping down on unethical behaviour and applying some significant fines on lawyers who is behaving inappropriately and bringing the trade into disrepute. Helps bring the balance between those with and without money a little closer.

Interesting... the new EEB forum is based on Xenforo, so there are various app options, from a simple "web in an app" type link (simple - can be done right now by users with a bunch of taps on their phone), to paying a fiver for an existing app that will talk to the EEB forum (assuming EEB want to install an add-on to the server), and that same app is offered as open-source, giving the potential to have a dedicated EEB app on iOS and Android without much, if any, development. Just saying .-)
