Dunfermline Athletic

Craig Robertson

Date: Friday, 26th Dec 2003

Born 22nd April 1963

Originally signed by Jim Leishman from Raith Rovers in June 1987 for ?25,000, Craig spent two spells at East End Park. Having been the highest scoring midfielder in Scotland he moved in December 1988 to Aberdeen for ?175,000. After three years up north, where he played in both the UEFA and Cup Winners Cup, Craig returned to Dunfermline Athletic in August 1991.

In his first season back, despite being relegated from the Premier League, the Pars reached the their first League Cup final, in over forty years, only to lose 2-0 to Hibernian. Following the tragic death of Norrie McCathie, Craig was handed the captaincy, and under very difficult circumstances lead the team to the first division championship.

Of the 41 goals scored by Craig for Dunfermline, his 85th minute thunderbolt against Clydebank, the first game played after Norrie?s death will long live on in the memories of Pars fans. Craig left East End Park at the end of season 1997/1998 having made 321 first team appearances. He is now back at the club as first team coach, for this third spell at the club.
