Mochrie a no from me as well - couldn’t fight his way out of a wet paper bag - completely disappears when the going gets tough.

I’m going to buck the trend, think Mochrie could be what we need, linking up with up top alongside, Todd, KRH and with Hamilton, Otoo don’t think that’s a bad midfield.

i`d take him, remember he was only 19 when he was with us and still made the Scotland u21s, at 21 and if he could push on could be worth a bit of money to us

Nah no thanks, good couple of months then wasn’t good enough to get near a game in our team with very few other creative players to compete with.

Had zero interest in competing in the tackle or tracking back and was a ball watcher when the opposition had it. At this level the opposition would know exactly where to carve us open if he’s in your team, a liability.

Interested to see where he ends up, might still end up in the championship, Mcpake knows him so might think he can improve the deficiencies in his game I guess but I doubt it.

There`s another quality midfielder scored off the list because he doesn`t tackle like Terry Hurlock.....

He was 19 for the majority of the time he was here. He`s just turned 21 last month.

5 starts and 19 substitute appearances for the league winners, but not good enough for a team that finished mid-table?

It`s reasonable to assume he has improved over the last season?

Not sure how a team would carve us open if he is played just off the front? That`s why Hamilton and Otoo are in there

In all seriousness, you can tell a lot about a player from the clubs official twitter post about the releases and Mochrie and Mcmann seems to be the ones the fans dont agree with.

The way some people on here talk about the importance of tackling, I`m fairly sure they`d reject players like Pirlo because they don`t `get stuck in`.

^^^ agree with the last two

"Pie and Bovril Dundee United site Mochrie was offered a deal must have something else lined up?"

he joined McNamara`s agency a couple of months ago and with a load of his players currently at Airdrie, 9 or 10 if i remember rightly, the rumours at the time were he would be going there.

Mochrie is one of the best technical players i`ve seen for us in a long time in terms of his control and technique.

Would take the ball in tight spaces and just spin away from 1 or 2 players in close proximity when it looked like he was under pressure and just slip away out of trouble.

Looked comfortable on both feet as well; he seemed to do a lot better on 4G rather than grass or is that just selective memory?

Remember tho that although he was young he was playing in league 1 with a team generally dominating possession and we know it’s quite a jump up in quality to championship level so it’s harsh to say that he’s any better than Moffat and summers have been.

You’re not asking for players to fly into tackles but at least go into 50-50’s as hard as the other guy.

He’ll have missed Mochrie scoring the winner against us at east end, and the winning goal that effectively won them the league against Ayr. Not quite nothing. Would be an excellent signing as long as we have others to join him to do the dirty side of the game.

I`ve not watched him closely enough to assess but I definitely wouldn`t base my judgement on his previous spell.

Shankland, Bruce Anderson - two relatively recent examples.

The title `head scout` suggests to me that he isn`t the only one charged with scouting duties. With the obsession on here about scouting I`m surprised no one took the opportunity to raise the issue at Tuesday`s Supporters` Meeting. Or did they?

Mochrie is a young player with good ability and the potential to improve even further. He would offer creativity and be an upgrade on the likes of Summers n Moffat. I think he would be a good signing for us.

Aye, it`s almost as if there are other ways of scouting players these days. It`s a daft thing to be criticising a club for when resources are tight.

Also, if you are wedded to the idea that we need to be watching players in the flesh week after week - our last 5 signings were:

Brad Holmes - Southport
MFG - Cardiff u23s
Xavier Benjamin - Cardiff u23s
Chris Kane - St Johnstone Reserves
MFW - Livingston Reserves

How many of them would have been playing the majority of their games at 3pm on a Saturday?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I love it when we go sell Kevin Nisbet,
He's gonna pay for everyone this season.

off the top of my head.
2 assists against Peterhead at home should have been 3 but Todd missed a sitter.
Ran the first game at home against Falkirk and should have scored what would have been the goal of the season. He also played in 34/36 league games.

clips of his time with us:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MzsCnaZC7c

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MzsCnaZC7c

Do admit his 2nd half of the season was quieter but that was as much due to the emergence of Todd and KRH I thought. Remember he was only 19 at the time so thats 2 years of development.

Young players go out on loan to develop. They aren`t the finished article. Too many fans write them off far too early. The hardest thing for any young player to achieve is consistency which can only come with experience.

good player but suffers a lot from injuries, got injured in his first game for Falkirk and never kicked a ball for them again.

Looking at FutMob the last few months of this season he seemed to be down the pecking order to Mochrie only getting 3 subby appearances in the last 14 games.

Incidentally, according to Futmob, Glass wasnt even making the matchday squads. Last start was October last year. Last subby appearance was 1 min on the 12th Jan.
