We`re on a cross channel ferry just now. We were hoping France would get to the final as that`s where we`ll be for the game. My daughter`s spent most of the journey drawing the Spain flag to put up in the house so no guesses who we`re supporting.

I never watch England games ... unless they`re against Scotland, or the last Euros final because I`s a quarter Italian. If England win, I`ll be the first to congratulate them and be pleased for Gareth Southgate because of all the cr@p he`s taken off Alan Shearer ... and for those players who were given a whole load of sh*t after the penalty shoot-out in the last final. I won`t be watching tomorrow ... if England lose, it`s not my pain; if England win, it`s not my glory.

Sì!

Want Spain to annihilate them, with a couple of early goals to dampen their mood right from the start.

Sadly, I think Bellingham or Kane will fall over in the box and they`ll win 1-0 by a "soft" penalty.

The National page is a pathetic piece of trash. Small minded bigots will lap it up though. No different a mentality to the worst elements regarding Rangers or Celtic fans. This has nothing to do with football rivalry.

I won`t be supporting Spain or England. I`ll just watch the game.

Jake’s nailed it with the Raith analogy.

It’s a wee team mentality.

That said, it’s a football game and you’re free to support whoever you want. If a game doesn’t involve the Pars or Scotland, I generally support the underdog.

Being Scottish surely makes us big enough to be able to cope with our fellow British 😀 team winning a major tournament, no matter the endless nationalistic drum beating for the next 4 years we may have to put up with. After all they have had to put up with our constant separatist whining since the last independence referendum. (I`m away to the basement now for my tin hat).

But that doesn`t stop me from wishing my very good friend, Marcos, from Madrid, the very best fortune in the final.

It`s very much a one sided rivalry. England don`t give Scotland a second thought much in the same way Pars fans don`t care about Raith or Cowdenbeath.

I`m not anti-English but I am anti-English fans, pundits and media. The sheer arrogance of them sickens me, and for that reason I don`t only want Spain to win, I want them to win not only in style, but by a poop load of goals as well.

In the words of the late, great Father Jack Hackett, feck the English and I love my brick.

Football fans are fickle beasts. How many of us were wanting Stevie Clarke fired before the Euros?
As for England it`s all about the media and even then it`s not as if their media is any different than that of other nations it`s just we`ve got to consume it and so it riles us up. I`ll take great pleasing them being beaten and beaten well tomorrow but they can`t keep fluffing their lines can they?

And although my eyes were open
They just might as well be closed

He`s an Englishman who has been president of the FA for nearly two decades, so it would be rather a surprise for him not to support England!

However, asking about how the Welsh feel about his being the Prince of Wales could be a valid question.

Never get the idea that I should be obliged to support another national team?

Also (I realise it’s because they’re more successful)… but never remember getting constantly asked the same questions about if I’ll be supporting Wales or Northern Ireland or even Ireland when they’re playing. Which for the record I don’t.

In truth I don’t really care - for me, all of the above teams are just a.n. other National team that I don’t support, and don’t really see any difference between them and France or Belgium - apart from I don’t share a National media with France or Belgium or Ireland, so if they win I don’t really hear about it so easier to ignore

The Prince of Wales is English, is he not, wee eck? And Wales are not involved, in any case.

As for the OP, the football played by Spain has been far superior to the dreary stuff produced by England, so whether you`re anti-English or not, from a purely footballing perspective, it seems right to get behind my Latin cousins.

OK, here`s another poser. If England win and a national holiday is declared, should it extend to the whole of the UK?

On the matter of the PoW, I think there were many Welsh who had misgivings about him being given that title although his dad held it before him. I know he`s English but should he be supporting one of the nations of the UK of which he is heir to the throne? If we`d progressed and been drawn against England would it have been OK for him to support them? I suppose the same situation arises with the rugby when his Auntie Anne supports Scotland in the Six Nations in her role as patron of the SRU, but she`s not heir to the throne.

I won’t be supporting England.
I’m Scottish and not just for 90 minutes.
I’m not a Unionist but I’m not anti-English and I certainly don’t agree with red star par.
The majority of my work colleagues are English rather than Scottish (I’ve lived in the Middle East for 28 of the last 30 years).
I have a lot of respect for my English colleagues. In fact I happen to think that almost all of them are very decent people.
BUT I CERTAINLY WON’T BE SUPPORTING THEM !!
I don’t think I’ve ever watched an England game other than versus Scotland (apart from when Germany beat them 2-0 in a World Cup game in 2012? I was the only one in the packed golf club bar who cheered the German goals……much to the “disdain” of my neighbours and fellow club members - but we made up eventually!!!).
Full disclosure - I did go to two England World Cup games in England seating areas (in Japan) but that was for rugby……..which doesn’t really count…….bit of a yawn but I supported the Argies and the All Blacks nevertheless !!!

I honestly don’t care who wins as I’m more interested in what the Pars are doing
Been a Pars fan since I was 4 years old so my connection is much greater to them, than the Scottish National team. Always found international football to quite boring and it’s not like any Pars players are close to representing their country. Sadly.
if England win then well done. Hopefully they can behave themselves and show the English off in a good light. I will probably be doing something else this evening.

Starmer explicitly called for an extra bank holiday if England beat Italy in the last euro’s final and also when englands woman won the euro’s.

I could just about support England if it gets me a day off work.

But I fully expect Starmer to not give one if they win and it was all more pathetic posturing.

I`ll be supporting Spain .just because of the way the English media ram it down our throats .the main news story when there are other things more important .and if they do win we will hear about for weeks or even months on end

Why would you support any foreign country that`s stealing your resources and wealth in any sporting competition. If Scotland were an independent country I wouldn`t care less if they won the world and european cup every time it was played.

Spain and Spanish club sides have been in 26 major finals (Two Euros, World Cup and many CL and Europa) since 2002, and lost precisely none of them. This includes the national side beating Germany, Holland and Italy, and club wins have included two CL finals for Real v Liverpool and Barca in another two v Man U. Rodri has lost just once in his last 79 matches for Man City and Spain. So everything points in one direction...

26 major finals without defeat is some record but I suppose records are just there to be broken...

Technically, Atletico Madrid have lost 2 finals, albeit against Real Madrid, but lost them nevertheless 😉

A fine example of hair-splitting, alwaysaPar. 🤪

I should have said Spain/Spanish clubs won them all, but I phrased it the way it was written. Blatant plagiarism. 😱

Or `the only team to beat a Spanish team in the 26 major finals they have contested is another Spanish team`. It really is a remarkable statistic whichever way you look at it.

Just to be clear. The uk media do not ram anything down our throats regarding celebrating Englands success…

The uk media serves the whole of the uk, and given they have more consumers in London than in Scotland, they are doing nothing more than giving their customers what they want!

Nobody who believes in the United Kingdom can complain about this!

Looks like it`s been a very good day all round for Spain with victory at Wimbledon too. But not too shabby for Scotland either with a brilliant victory for Bob McIntyre in the Scottish Open.

Nazpar, never said I agree with the uk, just that you can’t be a supporter of it and then complain about the fact that everything is basically decided by, and therefore geared towards serving the main conurbation.

If you support staying in the uk, then by extension you support the uk media, which is by default slanted towards the (by far) largest group

Edited to say that I saw the headline that pm starmer has said to the players that they did our country proud.
When a prime minister refers to our country, and you have to use context to know what country he’s actually talking about as the two are used interchangeably - for me, that’s a simple little indicator of the imbalance built in

After living in there for a couple of years, the only team I could support would be Spain. It`s people are warm, caring, accepting, tolerant. I have also lived and worked in england and they are the exact opposite, a cruel, heartless people. It`s not by accident that every nation on earth hates them, they are the absolute scum of the earth and I hope they get what is coming to them in spades

As a pars fan for the last 15 years and someone who’s half English I’m disgusted that some of our fans hold such bigoted, xenophobic and racist views.
Next time you are in Spain see if you can bring some “care, acceptance and tolerance” back with you.

It`s pretty poor that people can`t separate a football team from a nation.

I saw a video of a guy who wore and England top and walked through Scotland fans. Few wee jokes but seemed pretty friendly. He then did the same wearing a Scotland top going through England fans. It wasn`t pretty. Does that mean England is a country of ignorant, arrogant a-holes? Of course not. The vast majority of English people, like the vast majority of Scottish people, are very nice and easy going. It`s a minority of idiots who tarnish the reputation for everyone.

We walked through crowds of England fans in our tops in Dusseldorf and was fine - good banter and natural back and forth singing, then sat and had drinks with plenty of them outside the pubs the same day. They were of the belief that its some idiots that ruin it for the majority.

I think the big thing with all football fans is mob mentality - as soon as one gets too rowdy and a punch/pint/chair gets thrown, it becomes a “we must defend ourselves” mentality within the group. Good thing with that video of the England and German fans was there were English lads trying to stop it from kicking off.
