 2 for Tuesday - Livingston (H) 29th October

Good promotion the club are running for the livi game. Might upset the season ticket holders though.

One free ticket with any adult or concession ticket purchased.

Will be interesting if it adds anything to the gate given how we approach game, current performances and our subsequent league position.

Not sure about being fleeced , but I do feel we`re being taken for granted . Think it`ll be game by game for me next season .

Iā€™m starting to think about that myself. Basically throwing Ā£400 at the club every year plus all the strips etc for the kids and itā€™s increasing feeling like itā€™s taken for granted.

That being said, Livi arenā€™t exactly a well supported club so itā€™s probably a good game to choose for some sort of promotion to get as many seats filled as possible šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

I understand the reason for trying this, but itā€™s a slap in the face for season ticket holders.

Why not allow a season ticket holder to bring along a friend for free as well?

That would be the obvious solution. I bet they amend the offer to include this.

Would that not result in potential walk-ups finding an ST holder to get them in for free and there would be virtually no tickets sold for the game?

An interesting idea, not unlike the "buy one get one free" sometimes offered by supermarkets.

I can well understand that some ST holders will feel irked by this development, that their loyalty is taken for granted. I can also understand the club`s position; an evening game against poorly supported opposition is perhaps an ideal opportunity to get some extra fans along with this tempting promotion. The club will also hope that those extra folk who do come along will enjoy the game sufficiently to come again, paying the full walk-up price.

I don`t want to get all religious, but this reminds me of the Workers in the Vineyards parable Jesus told his followers. In the story, a vineyard owner hires workers from 6 am, 9 am, 12 pm, 3 pm, and 5 pm. At 6 pm, he arranges for every worker to be paid the same (1 dinar). Naturally, those who put in a 12 hour shift are more than a tad upset. The vineyard owner gently reminds them that they were all happy to work for that sum when he approached them.

Translate this into the Pars promotion, and we come up with this;

What skin is it off any ST holder`s nose if another fan gets in for a bargain price for a single game? Your ST hasn`t gone up in price, and presumably, you were happy to pay the asking price. I`m not trying to be a smartass here - just presenting a different way of looking at it.

I think Raymie`s suggestion that ST holders should be given a free ticket for the game has a lot of merit and would immediately diffuse any anger among ST holders. The last thing the club can afford to do is to alienate its most loyal fans. It will be interesting to see if this deserving suggestion is adopted.

What about last season and the season before when they reduced walk up prices for some games. More kicks in the teeth there.
Season tickets still go up every season.
Not even the offer of a free pie or something to appease fans somehow. Yes there`s early bird for ST holders but not everyone can take that up.

Was there an early bid offer this season? I don`t remember one. People have the choice to do what they like. I`ve already missed one home game this season but I don`t regret buying a ST. It helps the club having cash upfront.

Tricky one. I can see why ST holders are irked, but we know the club needs money and needs to try things to get new bums on seats.
There isn`t a lot more they can do, is there?

Hopefully, folk will invite new blood along, we get a good result, and they return with their cash.
It is no different to Sky offering deals to new customers. Of course, most folk will pair up and save cash.

I always see buying season tickets as a way for fans to put immediate cash in the coffers to fund new signings.
Saving a few quid is a bonus.
I think a professional commercial manager should be able to come up with some more incentives though.

As a non-disgruntled ST holder Iā€™m happy for the club to do this for the reasons stated above.

A goodwill gesture would have been nice but ultimately the club are trying what they can to increase the footfall, Iā€™m all for that

Thereā€™s not been an ā€˜early birdā€™ price for years. The club are happy for season tickets to buy, then just ignore them for 12 months until itā€™s time to renew again. This has been the case for years. As a business, itā€™s incredible how little Dunfermline Athletic have cared for its customers ever since GmbH took over, I thought this may change now, but apparently not.

If you miss just one game, youā€™re really struggling to get any value for money with a season ticket as it is, running discounts/offers for others and not season ticket holders is a real slap in the face.

Even saying season ticket holders can bring a friend for 50% off (which is the equivalent price of a ticket in a buy one get one free deal) would have made sense. Instead, theyā€™ve looked at season ticket holders and just said ā€˜f*** themā€™.

I think itā€™s a great idea, this season my son and I donā€™t have season tickets as I couldnā€™t afford them at the time of sale. But with this offer Iā€™m now going to attend this match that I wouldnā€™t have done before. I think the idea behind it is to bring in more walk up fans who maybe havenā€™t attended any games yet. Not helped by our table position.
Over the last 5 years or so the season ticket has less of advantage, miss a couple of games through working, holidays or a game changed to a Friday and you really lost any saving you had made. The thing I liked most about the season ticket was sitting in the same seat each match.
Maybe they will do a season ticket holders bring a friend to the match for free game later in the season, you could argue they may of had this offer first but then this wouldnā€™t make the club as much possibly.
Iā€™m sue there will be plenty of spare seats for extra bums to go on and a few season ticket holders that have given up on this season already.
At the end of the day the club need to make money, football clubs are businesses.

Thought Season Ticket holders got perks to having a season ticket that others didnā€™t get?

Now some moaning that others are getting a perk, that they still actually have to pay forā€¦ā€¦.unreal šŸ˜‚

ETA having an ST holder ā€œbring someone for freeā€ damages the club a lot more than this initiative as thats walk ups that get in for free rather than paying at least half priceā€¦ā€¦

There`s actually an offer available for today`s game which doesn`t seem to have attracted any comments on here -

`Join us for the final weekend of the October holidays as we welcome Greenock Morton to KDM Group East End Park on Saturday 19th October ā€“ 3pm.

We have a special family pass promo for those of you looking for something to do before the schools go back. This is an online exclusive, available for two adults and two under 12s for the Norrie McCathie stand.

Simply buy your two adult tickets & get the two under 12 tickets for free ā€“ saving Ā£18 on the total walk up price!

To take advantage of this offer, click the link to buy your tickets and select Adult Ticket (family pass) and U12 ticket (family pass) to redeem your special offer. Additional tickets can also be purchased at the same time.

If you require further assistance please email shop@dafc.co.uk

Please note any under 12s must be accompanied by an adult to enter the stadium.`

Maybe they could give a voucher to existing season ticket holders who turn up on the day that gives them a slight discount for next year`s season ticket? That way the club aren`t going to miss out on any cash on the day, it isn`t going to alienate season ticket holders and may encourage more to buy next season helping retention? I`m not currently a season ticket holder but just a thought.

I don`t mind offers like this as a season ticket holder myself, although really the season ticket doesn`t represent good value these days anyway - gone are the days when missing a game or two still meant you gained overall, now if you miss just one it seems like paying at the gate would have saved you money. When you think back to what a season ticket used to be - saving a good whack on paying weekly, entry to reserve and youth games, the first cup game, money off at the club shop, first dibs on away tickets etc. - then it shows how little season tickets represent value these days. This isn`t a unique to Dunfermline problem mind you. In England in particular clubs know they`ll get more money from day trippers buying individual tickets so have done a lot to p*** off season ticket holders, like getting rid of certain concessions, moving season ticket areas to sections with a poorer view to sell more premium tickets, etc. I think season tickets may become a thing of the past in the near future.

Suppose it depends what the driver was for buying your season ticket.

If it was to up front support the club with finances or for the cost saving it brings (should bring) throughout the season.

If the latter I see why folk are getting disgruntled, itā€™s barely value for money right now, miss a game or two and youā€™re just as well PATG and would work out better when they start throwing these offers out.

Canā€™t fault the club for trying to generate business but I agree that theyā€™ve omitted ST holders in this, if the amount of holders brought a pal, and just a small % keep coming itā€™s a nice win so feels like a missed opportunity.

Just seen Kelty response which basically covered my points, good timing!

Other than not sure I agree that STs will be a thing of the past, not for clubs at our level and in Scottish football in general, the upfront income is too precious.

One suggestion that might appease disgruntled ST holders - offer them a free ticket for the next cup competion match at home ?

Only drawback is that we might pull an away game - and over recent seasons that`s been as far as cup runs have taken us.

Midweek game, team are absolutely honking to watch at the moment and up against an opponent that will have the worst away support this season perhaps Hamilton aside.

Club need to try something to get folk in but i can see why folks are a bit peeved off.

As a fully paid-up season ticket-holder in the South Stand I almost choked on my barley sugar when I realised that today`s offer is only available in the Norrie McCathie Stand. How are the club going to rectify this bias? I would suggest leaving a free bag of Werther`s Originals on each seat in the main stand at a home game between now and the end of the season.

I`m not bothered about someone getting in free but as a season ticket holder, I think we should get into league cup or challenge cup games free as part of our season ticket. Games are sparsely attended anyway. Don`t think I`ll get one next season as, miss a game or 2, and any price benefit has gone.

Over the years , the incentives to buying a ST have dwindled, and with games being switched for tv purposes, making it difficult for some ST holders to attend , I`d say the best value these days , is just to pay match by match .
I understand about the money up front from ST sales supposedly helping with the managers player budget , but there`s not been much evidence of ST money helping with that over the last few seasons .

Honestly think if the just included a couple of early cup rounds youā€™d probably appease most ST holders.

The main reason I like my ST is I like where I sit. If I didnā€™t have my ST Iā€™d need to get there early every week and make sure I stood there and didnā€™t move šŸ˜‚

Used to get some good deals with the season tickets as well.

Do you still get a complimentary one if you buy a car at the Macklin Motors next door?

You get a discount on SRJ although could argue they are more expensive than others to start with.

Discount in the shops, free entry to the reserve games, used to have a good link up with the Fife Flyers.

Thereā€™s a lot more we can do and perhaps reintroduce to make these kind of offers to non ST holders more palatableā€¦by making the STā€™s more value for money.

Happens all the time, as SPFL rules state that away fans have to have access to the same deal/prices as home fans buying single tickets. As a result, any ā€˜kids for a quidā€™ or buy one get one free type offers have to be made available for both sets of fans.

It`s a hard one for the club to get right. Season tickets are on the rise with more and more fans deciding to PATG instead of buying a season ticket.

If fans do this they might decide against going if it`s freezing and the team are in the form they are at present and the club take the hit. But if they give them away too cheap will you lose more from PATG it`s a tough act to get right.

c'mon the pars

Jesus watching that team on a Saturday makes you depressed and why make your week even worse by watching them on a Tuesday! No wonder they are putting a deal on to try and get folk inā€¦.

I didn`t feel depressed by going on Saturday. It wasn`t a great result or even that great a game but you cannae let the fortunes of a provincial sports team dictate your emotions. I still had a nice day out with the family. Seriously, if the football makes you depressed then do something else.

I am the same as yourself about liking where I sit, but if we continue like this, it is a death by 1000 cuts and I have plenty of other things to do on a Saturday.

As a season ticket holder Iā€™m not bothered by this - I hope it increases the crowd and brings in more income - not sure about this though - eg 2 fans who attend most games and pay full whack - will they do the same and bring 2 others along or will they just come along as usual and just one pay?

At the end of the day our home support is very healthy considering what weā€™ve been served up the last couple of seasons - imagine what the crowd would be like if weā€™d started like Falkirk.
