I hope not as it costs a fortune & doesn’t guarantee the game will be on.

It`s interesting to note that in the last home game against Ayr on 31/08/24 ten of the starting eleven also started on Saturday at Firhill. The exception was Josh Cooper who started in place of Matty Tood who would have been injured in August.

Livingston has its own weather system. Genuinely must be one of the coldest places in Scotland.

Theres just something about West Lothian that attracts the snow and ice more than other areas 😂 very frustrating when having to drive through it on the M8 every night

It would make sense to move our game to the Sunday as well.

Assume that both teams would need to agree to that, so Ayr would have to want to do move the game also

From COWS -
Dunfermline Athletic can confirm that Saturday’s match with Ayr United has been rearranged for Tuesday, 14th January 2025, with a 7.45pm kick-off due to the ongoing challenging weather circumstances.
Despite the undersoil heating system running since Tuesday morning, the extremely low temperatures have resulted in a number of areas of the pitch that are frozen. With temperatures due to fall further ahead of Saturday’s match day, there is no chance the pitch would be in a playable condition.
We have been in dialogue with the SPFL and Ayr United to try and make a decision as early as possible to give supporters plenty of notice.
Tickets already purchased will still be valid for the rearranged fixture.

That`s a real shame. The cost of having the USH on since Tuesday will run into thousands of £s. A gamble that hasn`t paid off.
Can you imagine the outcry on here if the club had decided it wasn`t worth turning the USH on?

I know it`s cold, but are the temperatures really "extremely low" for January???

Would you care to elaborate on that statement as it has me beaten?
Why is it a crap decision if the pitch is unplayable, despite the USH having been on forv3 days at great expense?
And how does it make "absolute financial sense" given that we`ll probably lose even more money as a result of playing in midweek?

I believe the USH can cope with temperatures down to -4°C but below that it`s a lottery. We`ve had severe overnight temps all week.

Sure, it`s crap because we don`t have a game now on Saturday.
It makes absolute financial sense to call it off now rather try to get a game on that will more than likely be called off.
