We can`t afford the compensation Kelty are asking for, just don`t have it - at least until the promised American syndicate take over and they provided funds.
That`s the ongoing situation.

If we haven’t paid the compensation then surely he is not a DAFC employee? If that is the case why is Charlie Mulgrew being touted as KH next boss? What’s going on?

It`s not that we can`t afford it, but that we`re in the middle of a takeover so the current owners won`t pay it until conclusion of takeover. If the buy-out falls through then the Germans will pay the compensation for Tidser as they`ll be the owners. It`s just a matter of getting the club sale over the line. Tidser will happen regardless, but it`s just a matter of waiting

Paperwork should surely be done and dusted pretty soon. Given McPake was sacked under German ownership it`s a case that either they pay for his replacement or lower the club sale price?
This is also surely hurting Kelty given they`re operating without a management team even though that team hasn`t left? Surely it could come to pass that the club think "screw that" and go elsewhere (maybe to one of the MANY better alternatives according to people on this forum!)?

It really needs to happen next week. I am sure Tidser has two or three players on his radar that he would like to bring it during the Jan window. We could possibly miss out on his targets if this drags on much longer. That’s assuming there are funds available of course and we don’t know for sure until the take over is complete…..sigh..
I thought the potential new owners met with SFA last week? Never heard a peep about that…..
What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

He doesn't want it.
Anyway the hold up is we cant afford/ not willing to pay the compensation figure that Kelty have in mind and the transfer budget that was promised to tidser id assume the goalposts were moved somewhere along the line. I'm led to believe this has been resolved and should be announced shortly. This is from inside the Kelty camp.

I don`t get why the current ownership group don`t just pay it tbh. If the new owners come in, they can add that to the sale value of the shares. if for whatever reason the new owners don`t take over then the current board will need to fund a new manager anyway. For a wealthy group who are about to get their 2 million plus back, 50 grand is chump change.

Does any individual group pay it? Surely it’s another line item on the clubs books (and presumably contribute to another year of losses). Even if the club doesn’t have access to cash they would make a deal on scheduling of payments.

In which case the Germans could have bankrolled the compensation by now and recoup it from the new owners when (if ?) the takeover is completed.
Either way there is no reason for the ongoing delay being allowed to continue.

I thought the disagreement was over the amount of the compensation rather than who was going to pay it? Anyway, as reported on the `Tidser` thread, the Kelty sporting director said yesterday he expected something to happen early this week. He seemed resigned to having to recruit a new manager for Kelty.

In practice the amount becomes a secondary consideration if the current regime can’t or won’t pay it - and the potential new owners are not in place to provide funds.
If Kelty are not willing to reduce their expectations what is the solution to the impasse ?

A solution seems to have been found according to what the Kelty director said.
Would the compensation, or at least a `ballpark` figure, not normally be agreed when the `selling` club agreed to let the `buying` club speak to their target? I`m not sure what the protocol is in these situations.

Kelty has already held some "interviews" for his successor and the front runner seems to be Charlie Mulgrew. Although I`d think they will be waiting on Tidser going to announce his replacement or maybe even seeing what other candidates apply when the job advert goes live.

Big G Ball, hasn`t Tidser been a manager for 18 months and didn`t he play in the Championship for many seasons? How much experience of the English top league did Fergie have when he joined Manchester United? Most successful managers start at the bottom and progress as they are given opportunities at a higher level.

To say that we are paying money for someone with a very short managerial CV looks like a statement of absolute fact to me.
Also, don`t get the `dinosaur` argument. Not everyone out there is either extremely inexperienced or old, set in their ways and unable to adapt to the modern game/player. There is some middle ground.

Even Calderwood, probably the most successful manager the Pars have had in decades, wasn`t really that experienced before coming to us. I suppose it could be argued that Jimmy Nichol was though.
Give them a go, see what happens. I have to say Kelty have done well, not just under Tidser and MacDonald, but generally. I don`t live in Kelty but they appear from the outside to be a real part of the community.

Calderwood had 8 years of coaching experience, the latter 3 of which he was the manager of two different clubs in the top tier of Dutch football - so he was dropping down in level.
Tidser has never coached or managed a full-time football club.

I wish folk would stop trying to pretend that football clubs are just like other businesses when we all know that they are not.
It`s about more than affection or local connection too. Folk has a connection with Woolies, but did folk shake buckets to keep them afloat? How many tears were shed by grown men who thought they were making their last purchase there? Football clubs are treasured, they are genuinely loved.
It`s not the same as a shop or a travel agents, and most of the problems being faced by modern football are, at their core, down to folk treating clubs like other businesses.
The enemy travels by private jet, not by dinghy.

There have been articles. In the Courier, the Press, the Record, the Daily Mail and online. It had been discussed on podcasts and on the radio. Given that two clubs are currently in administration and they`ve had arguably less coverage than we have, it`s a weird angle to take.

I’ve got a feeling tidser might do okay. Feels like a better option than mcpake was.
Mcpake got lucky in taking over newly relegated teams with players too good for the league they were going into but not quite good enough for the league above so was able to get them back up while playing defensive football. The minute he has to improve the squad he was found wanting.
Tidser took over Kelty when they didn’t even have a squad so has actually built something and they look decent for a playoff spot and from what we hear playing half decent stuff.
As with both, they will live or die by who they sign in the market.. I fancy tidser wont ignore the attacking side of the game as mcpake did and hopefully will know a decent midfielder when he sees one.
Looking forward to seeing us sign someone who improves us as a team and is a regular name on the team sheet and not because there’s no one else to play that position. Apart from Kane we’ve spent the last few windows signing subs.

Kevin McDonald has been Assistant Manager at Musselburgh from 2016 to 2019, then manager there for a couple of years, and then Assistant Manager at Kelty for the past 4 years working with Kevin Thompson, John Potter and Michael Tidser, so he`s served his apprenticeship.
Lots of cars outside East End Park earlier, whatever is going on there today?
It is worth mentioning that the next appointment we make, may not be a traditional "manager" role. If the new owners are wanting to utilise what their Artificial Intelligence can do, it might mean that AI will assess the performance of our current players in games and training, their health, fitness and conditioning. AI will identify what is missing from our squad, and transfer targets will be set by AI. It will likely also produce in depth scouting of our opponents, how they will set up, what their players are likely to do, what set pieces they will use, and perhaps come up with a game plan, tactical set up and team selection, which the manager will need to embrace and work very hard with the players to implement during the week.
I`ve seen some data where it can show every touch a player makes, what passes he prefers to play, the success rate of his long and short passes. Good scouts have got the experience and game intelligence to look at what players do- for example they will know when the right back receives the ball out from his keeper, does he need a couple of touches to get it under control, does he favour a ball up to the right wing, if he is under pressure is he looking to pass side ways to his centre back, does he favour a touch and then his second touch is a short ball to the nearest midfielder. That`s the sort of information AI could provide us with. It will still need good people, with an understanding of the game that can make this work in practice.
It will need a coach that is fully onboard with the opportunities that Artificial Intelligence can bring and be willing to learn how they can use all this information to get the edge.
As much as I love him, I don`t know how someone like Dick Campbell would take to being told what team he needs to pick, and what formation he needs to play, it`s going to need to be someone willing to embrace change, take everything on board and use it

"Murray is the obvious one. Courts was also mentioned as being a possibility."
Are they that less risky? Murray has had good spells and bad, and his transfer dealinf have been hit and miss. Courts is working in Saudi Arabia after leaving Honved so would need a very attractive package to come back you`d think. He also bailed from Dundee United after only a short time in charge. Again, risky.

Based on the evidence, they`re both less of a risk. Nobody is saying anyone out there, who is a realistic prospect, offers any sort of guarantee.
Hopefully, we get a win tomorrow against Ayr so that Tidser comes in when the side have a good bit of momentum. Although not planned, that would give me a bit more confidence. I think it would have been a complete hospital pass if he`d taken over prior to the Falkirk match - or if we`d lost the games since then and he was getting the job now.

I had reservations when McPake took over then was enthused by him as we romped league one and look how it turned out….Lots of reasons why of course.
I will get behind any manager who takes over and hope it all works out in the short to medium term at least. Securing our championship status is imperative.
I do have my reservations again though….
As many have mentioned before, there is no guarantee of success and many experienced managers have crashed and burned while many less experienced have done a great job.
Let’s hope it all works out, not just for our new management but also for our new owners. It’s about time our fortunes took an upturn….
What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

Tidser will no doubt be at the game this evening either as manager or spectator. He`ll see how tough a job he has when Ayr demolish us. Yes I`m being negative but it`s just the way I am, I can`t help it. Hopefully I`m wrong and we can scrape a win or even a point would have me delighted. Ayr have recently pumped raith, hammered f&lkirk and beat livi so taking anything will be a mighty challenge. One I hope we rise to.

It would run the risk of causing an unnecessary distraction for the game tonight when the players are currently performing high under John.
Tidser will take over after tonight, get a comfortable first game in the bag against Stenhousemuir and buy him some more time on the training pitch ahead of his first league game.
That’s where my heads currently at with it anyway - may be completely off.

Kelty played hardball from the beginning.
Dunfermline offered tidser the job and agreed to take it.
Unfortunately Dunfermline never contacted Kelty first and when they did were offered a derisery figure.
Kelty said look we want x pounds as we are in the hunt for promotion/play offs and losing our player/manager and coach could cost us x pounds.
Apparently an agreement was reached but fussballgmbh said we are not paying it. The incoming owners said we will pay it but not till we are given the go ahead by the football authorities.
Tidser is still kelty manager but on gardening leave.
The reason Kelty want to play us isn`t really about money as such but to celebrate their 50th anniversary.
That`s my understanding of it all and hopefully it all gets put to bed sooner rather than later for everybody concerned.

The silence is almost deafening, its been a week since the meeting in regards to our proposed new owners, this must have been passed as surely there would have been some sort of announcement to say otherwise, likewise the tidser debacle, the fact that kelty have put him on garden leave, tells us that it is almost certain that he is no longer their manager at this current time, obviously our current german owners wont dip their hands into their pockets if they don`t need to or even want to. the only info we have is on this thread.
the manager situation should have been sorted out well before now. mcpake was dismissed a few days before xmas, it looks as if we already had tidser in our sights, surely our owners and cook would have known their would have been fees, and ready to pay such but again nothing, lets drag it out, as it stands we are running into another weekend without a permanent manager, no disrespect to our current coaching staff, the longer this goes on we will miss out in this transfer window, as we are now mid month.
the sooner this gets sorted the better, wave the current regime good bye and hopefully they take cook with them.
before we know, it will be the end of the transfer window, then we will need to on with it

It`s frustrating to say the least that neither the sale of the club nor the appointment of Tidser has been finalised yet so we have to assume the two are connected. Presumably the US consortium have approved the appointment of Tidser otherwise we could be faced with another change shortly after they assume ownership. If they aren`t prepared to pay the compensation to Kelty it must be because they don`t want to commit themselves until they are sure they have ownership. On the other hand the current German owners won`t want to pay the compensation because, if the deal doesn`t go through, they will have no way of recovering it and will have a manager they didn`t choose.

We the fans as usual are kept in the dark.
The last ‘official’ update we had on the sale of the club was that NDAs had been signed. Are you seriously expecting the club, or someone in the know, to breach these NDAs, to give you an update?
Of course somebody will know what the current situation is, but I’d assume those people are actively involved in discussions with lawyers, prospective buyers etc and are (rightly) keeping things quiet until there’s actually an update that they can give the fans, without breaching legal agreements that have been signed.
On the manager front, it would also be very unprofessional to be announcing anything until things have been agreed, or any potential deal has fallen through. The club can’t exactly come out and say “We’ve agreed a contract, but Kelty are being ridiculous with their demands” while we’re still negotiating compensation with them. That would just be stupid and jeopardise the deal.

On EEB the hold up is with the SFA needing more info from our potential new owners. There was a meeting last week and it is high time we were given an idea when this might/should be concluded. It is common knowledge who they are so nothing to do with negotiations or NDA’s .
It will be red tape at SFA doing their checks to see if our new owners meet certain criteria.
There should be no problem with letting the fans know what stage these checks are at and when it should be done and dusted.

Looking on EEB there are a few posters there who share my concern about the deafening silence from EEP. Of course the sycophants on here think the club can do no wrong.
I pretty sure that any other club that was going through a takeover would keep their fans in the loop to a degree even if it was only lip service.
What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

Why don’t you contact the club yourself to find out?
I’m sure we’re all champing at the bit to find out what’s going on but tbh there’s nothing we can do about it. I’d rather a full statement was made on the whole situation rather than snippets here and there.

Just because we choose not to bang on about it doesn`t mean we`re happy with the current mess.
If 2024 taught me anything it was to only worry about things I can do something about. This isn`t a situation I can influence.
We`ll be told when there`s something to tell. A statement saying "talks are ongoing" would pacify no-one, especially on this shambles of a forum.

I get the sense of frustration, but it seems that some on here don`t understand the concept of confidentiality in respect of business negotiations, commercial transactions or contractual disagreements. These matters are often difficult and drawn out and this whole affair seems to be especially complex. We have no properly functioning board and no manager. We do seem to be edging towards a resolution, and of course, we all want to see that.

I mean its just like going to asda and lifting a football club off the shelf and walking up to the tills, why does it take so long and why is nobody telling us all about it
(lets just ignore the multiple leagal sides and paperworks and transfer of assets/loans etc etc and the one thing that was announced was NDAs is in place)

This deal could collapse right up to the point that Bord is on his way to the office to sign the final documents. It`s hardly surprising that it`s radio silence, they want nothing to jeopardise the deal or put off other prospective investors if this deal does go t1ts up.

They don`t have to tell us any details, but something aloing the lines of:
"We understand fans` frustrations and concerns regarding the perceived delays in finalising the sale of the club and the appointment of a new management team. Unfortunately standard confidentiality agreements mean that we cannot provide any details at this point but we would like to reassure fans that work is being done in the background and whilst we cannot give a timescale, we hope to have matters concluded soon."
They certainly can`t be going into detail, as folk are keen to point out, but there`s a lot of wiggle-room between giving a running commentary on proceedings and what we are getting, which is zilch.

An update acknowledging that there`s no new news isn`t an onerous ask. It`s just a few sentences. October was long time ago but even a copy-paste of that exact statement would ease a lot of fans` anxiety.
The lack of this makes me, a reasonably sensible person, tempted think that the SFA has concerns about the fitness or propriety of Mr Bord as an owner.
It`s not like I`m sitting at home having aneurisms by the way - it`s just that some fans (not all it seems) are very emotionally invested in the well-being of the club and feel some anxiety when things are uncertain. Some might be remembering the way they felt when the club was in admin. I`m sure they can cope with life in general, but they do have a strong emotional attachment to the Pars. That`s why we`re here on this website.
If I didn`t care, I wouldn`t put up with this place and the dismissively emotionless criticisms that it can bring out in folk.

I don`t think either DAFC or the other parties have said who they are negotiating with, some newspapers have named James Bord, but they might be joining dots that aren`t correct. People need to respect the confidentiality agreement in place.
It is good that the SFA are doing their due diligence on checking out the prospective owners. I don`t know who they are, but that could save us a lot of heartache if they are not the right fit for us.
(I can imagine some of the meltdowns on here if the SFA knock them back)

Looks like another week with JM in charge and no chance of signings due to takeover etc. 🙂
Resigned to the fact we wont hear a peep until the takeover is either complete or fails, so I don’t really care about that anymore.
What I care about is the lack of direction for the playing squad. Yup, JM is doing an ok job of steadying the ship, but the uncertainty wont be helping. We need to get the managerial side of this sorted, and fast. Running out of games to get out of 9th now.

There`s an article in the Courier, in which Otoo has spoken about Tidser but I`m not a subscriber as I don`t want to read stuff about the Dundee clubs, St Johnstone and especially the wee team.
Can anyone post the gist of what Otoo said? Cheers.

Ewan Otoo is hopeful the watching Michael Tidser will have been impressed with Dunfermline, despite the disappointing 2-0 defeat to Ayr United.
Tidser was in the East End Park main stand to take in the rearranged Championship clash, in what appeared a major hint that an agreement with Kelty Hearts could now be close.
With youth coach John McLaughlan stepping in on an interim basis, Otoo insists the Pars players have not been adversely affected by the delay in finding a replacement for James McPake, who was sacked over three weeks ago.

And the 22-year-old, who was the subject of failed bids from English clubs last summer, insists there is always motivation for players, no matter whether a future boss is in attendance or not.
“As footballers, that’s our responsibility,” Otoo commented when asked about coping with the managerial change.
“Sometimes, these things happen, and it’s about how you take it in your stride. It’s about how you keep going, it’s about how you get the best out of yourselves.
“When something like that happens, you need to look to yourself. The players need to stick together as a team. And then just try and get the best out of each other.”
Asked about Tidser’s presence at the Ayr game, he added: “As players, we’re always focussed on ourselves.
“A bit of direction would be good for us players as well.
‘That’s our motivation’
“But, again, it’s not something that’s in the forefront of our minds.
“We’re just looking to work hard every day and whatever happens, happens.
“Personally, and I think this goes for the team as well, I’m always looking to try and impress anyone that’s watching.
“Hopefully, if the new gaffer is watching, he’s been impressed by a number of our individual performances.
“So, that’s our motivation, just to keep trying to impress, and you never know what can happen from there.”
Ewan Otoo goes to ground in a tackle on Ayr opponent Nick McAllister.

Otoo had one of Dunfermline’s best opportunities during a dominant first-half against Ayr on Tuesday night.
However, the defensive midfielder’s stabbed effort when through on goal was patted away by goalkeeper Harry Stone.
The Pars, who remain in ninth place in the Championship, were made to pay for not making the breakthrough when on top as the Honest Men earned all three points with second-half goals from Jay Henderson and George Oakley.
It was a disappointment after the highs of the dramatic draw with Falkirk and the 4-1 hammering of Partick Thistle in Glasgow.
Scottish Cup next for the Pars
This weekend, it is on to the Scottish Cup and a tricky-looking tie against League One title challengers Stenhousemuir.
“I think we’re still on a good track,” added Otoo. “We just need to get back on the horse on Saturday and put in another performance.
“We’re desperate to go as far as we can in the cup.
“It will be another tough test but we’ll be right up for it come Saturday afternoon.”

I think you’re wrong in assuming folk don’t grasp the concept behind the legalities of the situation and confidentiality, we’re not daft.
Like I’ve said before, we’re not expecting chapter and verse of the takeover negotiations, I know folk are questioning the point of a holding message but I genuinely think it’s a valid thing to do.
We’re hearing snippets from various sources, I’m getting more info out on my club from Kelty and the papers than ourselves.
We’ve had financial struggles in the past, we do not have a manager and not had one for three games now whilst we’re in a relegation battle, clubs around us bringing in new players and us fans none the wiser as to what’s happening.
Sorry to ask for just some sort of acknowledgement, DC at the outset promised regular communication with the fans and hasn’t really delivered on that prior to this but is epically failing now.

I guess with two weeks of the transfer window remaining we`ll see pretty quickly the new owners intentions in how Tidser is backed?
I don`t wanna go down like disco.

Honestly I have never seen such a farce as what’s going on with our club. Football clubs are not like businesses and fans are respected and kept in the loop and their opinions respected.
Remember though it’s still the Germans in charge and they don’t respect the fans or communicate so there we go.

If you are selling a football club, it`s on the verge of completing, and NDAs have been signed, you would be pretty daft to say anything until it is completed.

I love it when we go sell Kevin Nisbet,
He's gonna pay for everyone this season.

A comment from the board should have been made to avoid weeks of speculation in the media without real substance. Thats all Im saying on it. If deals are done today I will be quietly surprised.
