Leeds United have now accepted a last-gasp bid from Dunfermline for Jeremiah Mullen.
According to Joe Donnohue.
The Yorkshire Evening Post journalist reports 2nd February that, while the fee is undisclosed it is not thought to be a substantial deal as the 20 year old crosses the border to Scotland.
Read this yesterday but nothing from COWS.

Promising midfielder Owen Hampson has headed out on a first senior loan, joining Scottish Championship side Dunfermline until the end of the 2024/25 season.
The Wales youth team international has enjoyed an impressive rise through the ranks since joining the Blades academy from Manchester United in January 2021, part of title-winning teams at both Under 18 and Under 21 levels, and making his first team debut at Bramall Lane against Wrexham in the EFL Cup earlier this season.
Hampson now joins The Pars, who sit eighth in the Scottish Championship, until the end of the campaign to gain valuable first team experience.

Yes, cover. Ngwenya has missed a few games through injury and we have no other recognised cover except Otoo who needs to be in midfield.

Cover and competition for places can only make us stronger. We can`t play Ottoo there as the midfield collapses.

Dunfermline Athletic is delighted to announce the signing of eighteen year old right back Keith Bray from Inverness Caley Thistle for an undisclosed fee on a four and a half year deal. The exciting young prospect will be loaned back to the Highlanders for remainder of the 2024-2025 season.
New owners James Bord and Evan Sofer are keen to identify and recruit talented young Scottish players as part of the clubs revised transfer strategy.
With a challenging season at Inverness, both DAFC and Keith were keen for him to rejoin his teammates for the remainder of the season. The club would like thanks all at Inverness Caley Thistle for their co-operation in making this deal happen.
Keith is from Tong on the Isle of Lewis, a village of around 500 people situated four miles north east of Stornoway. The full back was spotted some six years ago while playing with Stornoway Athletic and signed up by ICT.
As a teenager he travelled six hours each week including the two and a half hour ferry journey to Ullapool, to play football with Inverness. before moving to the Highland capital at the age of 16.
On graduating from the Inverness Caley Thistle Academy he signed a full time contact at the club in July 2022. He was still only 16 when he made his senior debut, playing the full 90 minutes in Caley Thistle’s away SPFL Trust Trophy tie against Hamilton on 10th December 2022.
After making nine appearances the next season for Caley Thistle, Keith went out on loan to Elgin City in January 2024. There he made ten starts and six appearances off the bench in Scottish League Two. Has now made 34 appearances for ICT scoring 5 goals and is currently the club’s top goalscorer, scoring primarily from set-plays.
On joining Keith commented, “I’m really happy to get this over the line. I know how big a club Dunfermline is and I’m really happy to have that loan option in place. Hopefully we can end the season strong at Inverness.
“I can play in various positions – midfield, full-back, out wide. I like to drive the ball, like to have the ball on my feet, get in the box late and help with some goals.
“I can’t wait to get going in the summer, I’m definitely looking forward to that. It’s going to be a good challenge but I’m up for it.”

4.5 year contract! Never thought I would see the day! Must have been a decent fee for what must be caley’s best prospect.
Sounds like a good signing and hopefully he’s in our team next season, 50 first teams games at that age is a positive and shows the benefit of getting players out there playing first team games.
I fancy caley will make the playoffs to come back up given current form, at least he wouldn’t play against us should we end up in the playoffs too

What an incredible window!
Slight parallels with when st mirren were taken over in 16/17 maybe? They were absolute dross when Jack Ross was appointed in October, bottom of the league having barely won a game. They had a huge turnover of players in January and were one of the form teams in the league from there. They had a mountain to climb and managed to escape relegation.
They won the league by a distance the following season...
Thankfully we don`t have quite the same mountain to climb!

All on loan deals except Bray ?
Chilokoa-Mullen and Taylor-Clarke appear to be permanent deals until the end of the season with an option to extend in C-M`s case.

Delighted with the new bodies in the door. Should give us legs all over the team, which we have certainly been missing.
On a separate note, I`m surprised at the amount of signings considering we`ve been told on here many times that Cook can`t negotiate and holds things up. The evidence over the weekend doesn`t look that way. Maybe he was handcuffed by the previous owners by what he could offer etc.

I think Cook deserves a clean slate. None of us know what constraints or discretion to make decisions without the owners sign off he was under previously. Interesting that the new owners used the phrase ‘empowering people’ (or words to that effect) so presumably any previous restraints are now off. If the past couple of weeks are any guide then the omens are good.
Personally I’d appreciate some more communication but now the dust from the purchase and transfer window begins to settle, maybe we will.
Or of course he could get his hitters the morn!

Yes Judeo/Christian names. Ephraim was one of the sons of Joseph and constituted a half tribe of Israel`s 12 tribes, the other half tribe being Manasseh. Jeremiah was one of the major prophets of the Old Testament and of course Joshua, the young man who led Israel into the promised land. I am hoping that is prophetic and that the introduction of new blood will lead DAFC into the promised land of the Scottish Premiership.
Only shame with the main protagonist, sonofpetrie, is that He took our shame upon Himself, so that we might be freed from it and He ever lives to intercede for us.

Relevant comment on the origin of the names of some of our new players and positive reply to sonofpetrie`s negative comment. Fairly usual progression of a thread, I would have thought, if not in fact educational. 😉

What a stupid statement.
My son died 4 times following a cancer operation and survived 4 sets of CPR despite having half his lung removed the day before.
He suffered brain damage as a result. His mind and memory are intact, but his body and speech are going through lengthy rehab.
The pulmonary embolism was apparently caused by the failure to administer an anticoagulant during the operation.
We are grateful to the medics who resuscitated him, but it wasn`t God who gave him cancer or missed out the medication.
It wasn`t God who told us we should think about letting him go when he was in a comma.
Our faith encouraged us to fight for him, and now he is slowly recovering.

I`m sorry Dave. The doctors actually caused his condition. And suggested we let him go.
Our faith saved him. If we listened to the doctors he wouldn`t be here.
Actually I'm not saying God intervened supernaturally and healed him. If that had happened he wouldn't have required rehab.
I'm not saying miracles don't happen but we are beyond the age of the mass miracles, the healing of the blind and lepers etc. That was in the first age of the church. We are now in the seventh age. This is a time of faith.
The first age was all about evidence and proof. It started and spread the gospel.
If all those miracles were still happening, there wouldn't be faith.
God does not intervene so visibly in this age., but he carries us through our troubled times, and therefore still effectively heals us.

I can`t understand why Par Dan posted what he did. It would suggest he doesn`t believe that God exists. Fair enough, but if God doesn`t exist he can`t "give cancer" to babies or adults, or animals, even. If he does exist, he would have to be very evil to do those things.
Either way, it`s a very illogical and irrational statement.

Lots of people believe that God exists and is evil.
For instance Gnosticism asserts that the real God is somehow hidden and that Yahweh is an evil Demiurge who created the physical universe, which they believe is fundamentally flawed and that true salvation can only be gained by knowledge of the hidden God.

Indeed. (Although I don`t see how folk can have it both ways - you can`t absolve "God" of blame for things you don`t like and give him credit for things you do. It was a humans fault someone got ill, yet it was "God" who fixed it. Mental gymnastics there. But I digress).
I do think we are still light in certain areas bizarrely, even though we went crazy on deadline day. We can still make domestic loans so maybe there will be something that can be done. I`d really worry if Ngwenya got injured and in general there is very little cover on the whole of the left side. Otoo, Chalmers or Comrie could play at left back in an absolute pinch but each of those options has some very obvious issues. Maybe with Taylor-Clarke signing Otoo won`t be missed as much in the midfield if he has to play at left back, but he isn`t good there tbh. Chalmers might be fine in some games where he have all the ball but not in most games. Comrie shuffling across leaves the same issue on the right, doubly so now that Fisher has moved on.
Further up, McCann seems to be the only choice on that left side of midfield/attack. There isn`t a left winger in the squad so it`s either a right winger, a central midfielder or a striker who is likely to be pressed into service if we lost McCann for some reason. I wonder if Tidser will play Young out there but for me he should be played as a number nine and not stuck out of position to fill a hole. Wotherspoon is the obvious replacement on the left but I think he`s wasted out there tbh.
Tl.dr: we could do with a loan player to cover the left side of the team.

As you say, Kelty_par, Connor Young is an out and out number 9 and is very effective in that position. I`d love to see him and Chris Kane partnered up front in the next league game.

I think 2 up top would also suit yeboah. He didn’t get much of a sniff last night but I think that was down to the lack of support from the Center. Taylor Clarke was a bit anonymous but again I feel like otoo/hamilton doesn’t work in there which affect his ability to get into the game. Cover for left back would be good, think we will be good otherwise. We have Hampson who is meant to be tricky and cooper too.

going to Livingston and playing 2 up front isnt a sensible idea imo, in part cause we dont have the midfielders to play in a 2 behind them. going to throw this one in early too i wouldnt be surprised if Young ends up back at Edinburgh City on loan for the rest of the season.
agree with parts of what kelty_par said, some areas have not been addressed in 4 windows now although there are so many other problems in the squad everything was not going to be fixed in this window.

I was disappointed, and surprised, that Owen Hampson didn`t feature last night. He was the only eligible new signing who didn`t and is supposed to be the sort of creative midfielder we`ve been crying out for. Will he get his chance at Pittodrie?
Especially when McCann looked like he was goosed the last 20 mins. Probably a perfect time to bring on fresh legs and run at them.

….and we already know John Colqhoun is involved with the consortium (and is here in a Sporting Director role). Raymie confirmed this a few weeks ago.

I`m sure I read on here when the deal was taking place that colqhoun was basically doing what cook was for the Germans. I`d be surprised if cook is here next season.

Isn`t that what Meggle used to do?
I doubt Cook is, or ever has been, in the business of identifying players.

You’ve got the wrong end of the stick. Cook never has identified a player. What he was doing was negotiating the contracts with the agents. Mostly unsuccessfully

I thought Sampson would have got a wee bit of game time too.

Given that the German owners restricted the players` recruitment budget wasn`t it almost inevitable that negotiating contracts with players` agents would be `unsuccessful` whoever was responsible?
In any case, negotiating players` contracts will only be part of a CEO`s job with a couple of periods of intense activity during the year. A much wider skill set would be required to do the job.

He was due to play, but unfortunately Delilah decided to give him a quick trim ahead of his debut, and that left him feeling a bit jaded

Correct. One other task might be making sure the club didn’t lose a million quid every year

Maybe the owners budgeted to lose £1m! I see Hibs lost £7.3m in their last financial year despite being in Europe and making a profit on players` transfers.
As has been said before on here nobody actually knows what our CEO`s job description is so how can we judge him?

Cook has been at the club for 3 years now. Any idea how many players we have managed to sign permanently, on loan or extended a contracts since then? Must be 40 or 50. As they will all have agents, he must have some ability to get a deal done.
One would also imagine that the budget was set by the previous owners, given that it was their money being used to plug the shortfall. He`s obviously got to run the club, but a major part of the expenditure will be on wages, and I am not convinced that Cook had carte blanche to spend whatever he felt like.
For the record, I`ve no idea if Cook is any good at his job. My main assertion is that you have no idea either.

So, you have a contact within the club and they are happy to share information with you about what goes on - with full knowledge that you can`t stop yourself posting said information on a public forum?

Interesting to read this from Charlie Christie Inverness CEO Keith Brays bid surprised me the most,it was former Hearts player John Colquhoun I dealt with the most.
I played against John and know him and he`s involved in the consortium at Dunfermline.
It came out of left field and over three days and 16 telephone calls back and forward,we tried to get a bit more for Caley Thistle.
Keith was to be out of contract if he was on a three or four year it could be a different ball game.
There would have been a time when Caley Thistle wouldn`t have contemplated selling players to Dunfermline.
I regard Dunfermline as being in the top 10 sized clubs in Scotland
It`s a good opportunity for another academy player, and Dunfermline and John Colquhoun have done it the right way.
I stressed we wanted Keith back for the remainder of the season John agreed on the first call he`d be able to do that.

Possibly. Wouldn`t make it any better.
Either way, an axe to grind - or a mouthpiece for someone with an axe to grind - with David Cook. Perhaps then, not the most balanced of viewpoints, although it might be perfectly justified.
However, I was just wondering how all these signings and contract extensions have managed to get done over the last 3 years (of which there are many), when Cook has been "mostly unsuccessful" when dealing with agents - and reportedly even more hampered by GMBH`s apparent caution when it came to bringing players in.
Maybe he`s nothing to do with the current influx of players. The club did bring in 5 players in quick succession at this point last season, though.

If a player had an agent that was unwilling to do business with a club due to the personality of one person at that club then the agent would be getting sacked pretty quickly. An agent has one responsibility - getting the best deal for their client. If they would rather take a lower offer or a shorter contract because they don`t like dealing with someone then they are a terrible agent.
Seems to me there are certain members of the former inner circle whose nose are out of joint at Cook, the GmbH group and now the new consortium in charge. That could be because they are no longer relevant, that they aren`t getting the same access, that they aren`t getting the perks they used to, or some other reason, but it 100% looks like certain people are briefing against Cook, weren`t happy with the Germans and are now unhappy with the new owners. I don`t know who it is, and I don`t care, but I certainly take any "ITK" stuff on here with a massive pinch of salt based on that.

I wonder how hamstrung Cook was under GMBH. We’ll see I guess what the next weeks and months bring for Cook but given the signings of last week then good on the fella.
I’d like some more communication and updates from the club. Especially as I’m someone removed from the town and unable to attend games they really make a huge difference, even with all of the club insiders views available on the forum 😁 I hope the club and Cook learn this lesson from the last few years, supporter meetings, club updates etc.
