Anyone know if the work has started yet? I assume the Undersoil heating will be replaced also which will mean the work as a whole will take longer than a pitch replacement solely.
Is there a chance it won’t be ready for the league cup ties? Can’t imagine it will be ready for pre season friendlies.
I have no idea how long the work will take including the time allowed for the grass to be playable…..
What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

Replacing the USH at the same time would make sense but it depends if it`s needed. Presumably it`s just plastic piping. If something needed fixed it would more likely be the boilers that provided the hot water.

I would assume they would look at a more suitable alternative to gas or oil boilers that would be more energy efficient such as air source heat pumps. It`s alot of expense to install and operate under soil heating systems

Correct. Not replaced, full reseed started this week. Spoke to the guys whisky walking the dog, they were surprised the club wasn’t replacing the pitch as they normally do the full thing. Apparently we’re spending around 30% of a full replacement and will need to do it again shortly

Pitch shouldn`t need a full replace. The only issue with a reseed right now is the pitch will be compacted and dry due to recent weather.

The heat destroyed the roots and it never recovered.
Same will happen again if similar circumstances weather wise.

The club should go and get Graham Glenn (I think that is his name?) who was the groundsman at Forthbank stadium. He left this season, but not sure if it was to another job. He has won awards for the quality of that pitch despite its heavy use with both Stirling Albion and Stirling Uni playing on it.

The sand will be levelled out and bedded into the top soil. Turf goes on top. You can sand over the top if there are any dips. It`s what people who take their lawn seriously do.

Good to hear Willie is still in charge of looking after the pitch and he is really enthusiastic about the improvements being made. He got a bit of stick for the state of the pitch last season with no real justification for it.

Good news EE the pitch. I am sure we will see a big difference second half of the season. New irrigation system too which will help.
On a more pressing matter….when is the broken gutter on the outside of the Norrie getting fixed ? !

I`m all for pitch improvements and, with the exception of last season, have always felt as though our pitch holds up pretty well - credit to the groundman and his team. Word of caution however - I went to McDairmid park for Saints v Aberdeen back in April, got chatting to a ST holder who was bemoaning the pitch which he said " gets relaid every other season and is still sh*%e". Sure the groundsmans skill will have an influence but, playing through a scottish winter, I just wonder if it`s in the lap of the gods whether or not you end up with a tattie field in February.

Many things can happen to grass. Last year, Pollok Juniors in Glasgow had a terrible time with their pitch as it was diseased.
Will be nice to see the fruits of investment on the pitch.

Electricity is about 4/5x the price of gas
I really don’t see how that would be cheaper to use in an external environment

Looking at it now and we will have the best pitch in Scotland like we did 5/6 years ago.
I`m pretty sure a lot of our recent problems were due to adverse weather and a faulty undersoil heating system. There is every chance this can happen again. Nothing to do with "The Germans".

Always thought we had one of the best pitches in Scotland, no means feat when a decent part of it gets little sunshine.
To be honest, it never really recovered after that USH leak a couple years back.
Looks like it will be back to being really good, Willie will be chuffed, that was a tough job last season.
