A.Tod, Cooper and Bray front three then I imagine. That’s a nippy front three - will need a bit of physicality in midfield … can see Amade, Gilmour with Oakley all starting. Otoo and Kearney either side and defence picks itself.
Deniz now he has competition has to start - he has made one mistake in 4 games.
Deniz
Chiko Mullen. Bene. JTod
Kearney Oakley Amade Gilmour Otoo
Bray. Cooper
ATod.

Coventry.
That would indeed be an interesting starting line up, seeing as you’ve picked 12 players. Bold move if we can get away with it.
Think you are mostly right tho except bray will drop out, with amade and Gilmore being the sitting midfielders, Oakley booth playing more advanced behind A.Tod and cooper. Goalie might not be Mehmet.

Making the journey through regardless, take a scrappy awful 1-0 win.

I want 3 pts, but a draw wouldn`t be a disaster. If we average 4 pts for every 2 games we`d end up with 72. That would perhaps win the league more often than not.

There aren`t really any failures in our lineup at all. Special mention for Andrew Tod. He never gives up grafting and closing down. He`s getting kicked all over the place, also made space for himself and put in a great cross we should have converted. John Tod is playing very well too, very composed on the ball. Ottoo is ok but relies to much on his right foot. Would be better on the right, I think.

Quite an enjoyable 0-0.
I thought we slightly edged it, but Morton always looked like they could create something.
Andy Tod is a revelation. He just never gives up. His brother had a couple of mad moments, but thankfully didn`t get punished. TOB looks to have stepped up a bit from last season. Gilmour is super solid. Munn looked like he owned the jersey. Mullen was back to his majestic best.
KRH played well, but I`d start Kearney ahead of him. Otoo is a trier, but I`m not sure he`s in the right position.
Overall I`d say that was a 7/10 performance, which is pretty good for the first game of the season, away from home.

Morton a lot poorer than last season, that’s well documented. Most top teams will win that game.
League record reads….Dunfermline NIL and sadly just carries on from last season. 2 goals against Hamilton and Stirling not really changing my view.
He’ll need properly supported by Cook and the Owner as he desperately needs strikers and proven ones at that.

Central midfield looked really strong today. Boothe and Gilmour really impressive and our best players today IMO.
Just really short up front, but anyone can see that. Still need a naturally left sided midfielder as well.
Opposition not up to much at all. Really should be beating teams like that if we want to feature at right end of the table. Won`t face many poorer teams than that in the league.

Usual problem if you don’t score, the best you’ll get is a point and one lapse and you get nothing.
It’s same old same old, having a decent season hinges on Kane being fit and whoever we do eventually get in as striker being good.
Just as important as another striker is that quality attacking player in midfield.

I wasn`t there so can only judge on the stats but 11 shots and 9 on target is pretty impressive. We weren`t seeing the likes of that last season. We were lucky to get 9 shots at all let alone on target.
We clearly need someone up front alongside Young. Tod has been great but we can`t rely on him on his tod (pun intended). Same with Cooper. If we`re keeping that sort of formation we need a Kane beside Young to create goals.

Disappointing we couldn’t beat what looks a pretty poor Morton side. The type of away game you need to be winning if you want to compete at the top of the table. Controlled the game but couldn’t score. Dunfermline Nil again.
Thought Connor Young had a good game. Created a chance out of nothing first half that the goalie did well to save and then the keeper denied him again with a stunning save from a free kick. He also slid in Cooper and A.Tod with chances they perhaps should have done better with. If that wasn’t enough he also cleared one off the line to prevent us going a goal down.
Cooper didn’t look with it at all today.
The standard of cross into the box from Otoo and KRH wasn’t good enough.
GILmour and TOB looked good in the middle of the park.
Defence and goalie looked solid.

Surprised to see Munn start. I couldn’t see Mehmet out at half time … did anybody else? Munn looked confident but had little to save. Distribution is very good. KRH had his best shift for a while. ( the joy of competition)
I was concerned in the cup and preseason about Chiko Mullen. He was strong today. Oakley is so assured and skilled - to have Gilmour beside him makes for a good duo. We have many skilled players now. ATod played Kane-esk with the ball coming towards him with his back to goal. Got lots of fouls. Cooper had a bit of an off day by his standards. Connor Young created chances from half chances. Bene almost never misses a header. JTod had some bloopers but made up by some good space finding runs. Otoo was strong ( but limited in that position IMO)
Get a strong no 9 in and we will be top half.

First round of games over and 4 out of the 5 are draws , Just a pity we couldn`t get that goal today that the boy`s deserved , but we carved out more shots on target today than we did in probably 10 games last season , but certainly shows we need a real forward to put the chances away , this is what will probably define where we end up this season

People will look at the failure to score and will jump to conclusions after last year, but this wasn’t a performance of last year. Yes, we are lacking up front but we had plenty of opportunities.
Today’s Man of the Match, had to be the Morton Goalkeeper, Storer. 3 top drawer saves and a couple of decent ones gave Morton the point.
For us, where do you start? I thought Munn looked competent in goals. He’ll have tougher 90 minutes to come, but he pulled off a couple of good stops on the First Half and his distribution was excellent. Talking of excellent, I thought our 2 Central Midfielders (TOB & Gilmour) were just that, we saw the real TOB today and no wonder Lennon wanted him back. I was probably like everyone else, surprised there was no Amade in the team, it was a bold call and one that was spot on. KRH was another big call and he probably had his best game as RWB. Other honourable mentions to JCM, who looked more like the player we saw last season, Andrew Tod who put a hell of a shift in, especially off the ball.
I’m a little bit frustrated we didn’t take all 3 points, but when you have a keeper doing as well as that, and you’ve had Morton players diving like Tom Daley, then you’ve got to be happy with the point.

Yes, I noticed in the second half, Raymie, that Otoo was favouring his left foot. He does seem a bit ambidextrous that way because he seldom goes past a defender to the left, but almost always cuts in onto his right. He did make some good surging runs in the second half. If he could cross the ball better with his left, he would be great.

Unlucky Pars …………..
On another day we win that at a canter. Big upgrade in midfield, totally bossed the centre of the park. I’m happy with what I saw we are streets ahead of last season. Got to be more clinical in the last third.
Conor Young so unlucky with the free-kick it was in all the way but the keeper pushes it onto the post.
There is more to come from this team - exciting times ahead.

That’s me just back and overall pretty happy with the display.
First half was a bit scrappy, thought Morton had the better chances. J Tod didn’t have a good start, and Morton were targeting that side and were in on a couple of occasions.
Thankfully the ball fell to MOH who is beyond useless.
Second half, hard to see but looked like we had to clear one off the line but rest of the half we were in complete control. Gilmour and Tash were excellent.
For those saying it’s another ‘nil’ typical Pars, their keeper made three or four great saves and should’ve got man of the match, the save from the Young free kick stands out.
I’m still of the opinion Otoo is not a LWB, and I think we need better starters than Cooper and A.Tod.
Morton made an error in my mind by taking Moffat off, he was throwing about for fouls but looked one of their threats.
Very happy with the point.

Very happy with that, although they`re not direct comparisons that game showed a clear difference from the end of last season v Morton.
Back three and keeper were solid J Tod making the step up no bother. Midfield were able to sustain attacks in the opponents third which we couldn`t do at all last year. KRH done well, we could really do with a proper LWB to have attacks from both sides.
Front three huffed and puffed but showed some good play and importantly got shots away. I agree if you want to be up there this season you need to win those games but a few players short at least we won`t be push overs this season. Bring on airdrie.

It’s interesting how we see things differently
I personally thought KRH was poor after a positive first 20mins and thought Otoo grew into the game after an edgy first 20mins along with J Todd. I thought we looked to go left more often than not but quite often found ourselves playing in tight triangles trying to create space / overlaps. Quite often there was acres of spaces out on the right but struggled to find a quick switch of play.
Overall happy with a point and thought Gilmour in particular brings a physical presence to the midfield we haven’t had for ages.
I think it was telling Lennon wasn’t keen to make any subs… maybe sending a wee message to those upstairs to get the finger out.
Strength and depth in the squad looks better than last year but just missing that wee bit something different up top.

Don’t think he was sending a message, he’d do what was needed to try win the game and bar the enforced sub, don’t think changes were the right move to be honest, we were in complete control.
Other than A.Tod I guess who looked knackered.

Agreed their wasn’t much in the way of match winners on the bench but last twenty wee started to look leggy across the front three. Understandable given the effort and temperatures on the day.
Maybe a change just to bring legs on to try and force a mistake or create something from nothing. I just thought it was a little odd or maybe like me NL was happy with a point in the knowledge there are a few fresh faces still to come.

I think that Owen Moffat only has 60 minutes in his legs for whatever reason.
I liked him as a player but you need to get 90 minutes from him.
We were solid enough today. We look a big team now and are more of a threat from corners and set pieces

Some folk are like that i guess.
Remember Tom Rogic even after multiple years in a FT environment with all the preseasons, sports scientists and everything else going with it still being gassed and a stick on to get hooked after an hour whenever he started a game.
One thing i noticed today was if you didn`t know Morton`s backroom setup you would be fair to assume Davies was their manager and not Imrie. Not just with him being in a suit but he seemed to be much more hands on and involved from the touchline than Imrie was.
Wouldn`t surprise me if they have a sticky patch and he ends up taking over all together.

Was Imrie even there? I thought he had a personal issue?

Yes, A Tod looked knackered in the last 20 minutes but that`s not surprising since he put in a great shift and was kicked black and blue by the Morton hatchet men. If he has come through that game with no major injuries that`s a big plus.

ATod has surprised me … I thought he might be out on loan. Clearly Lenny rates him and seeing the player in the last few games I agree. We are a LWB a CB and a striker away from having a strong squad. I think we will hold back then till the January window if we are in real contention.

The manager has said that he`ll get one or two strikers in, so stop whinging. He`s clearly looking for players of a certain quality so have a bit of patience for goodness sake.
