Depends if Ngwenya can play CH. If not if say 442 with Robbie Fraser wide left.

They said that there was doubt about J.Tod due to a knock he picked up in the Arbroath game but anyone who watched the warm up that day will have seen his knee was strapped beforehand so maybe they have their games mixed up.

IB hinted at a few issues/knocks post match on Tuesday whilst I can`t recall his exact words it might well have been a pointer to a bug as that`s been the rumour.

Because East Kilbride don`t play in the Championship where he couldn`t score.

This is awful. Doing literally everything wrong. Wrong formation, wrong personnel, can`t pass, can`t cross, can`t defend one-on-one, can`t take a man on one-on-one, midfield all over the place, second to every ball... and now 2 down. Sigh.

Anton Dowes is being given so much space by our defence. We are seriously off the pace here. Ayr wins every contested ball. Ou instict always is to pass back rather than forward. Our passing is woeful. More of this and I could see us lose this 5-0.

We’re been really poor for weeks now, the youngsters look like they have run out of steam and there’s zero intensity to our play.

It’s like the end of the mcpake reign, the players look done in. Too many players playing today from last season.

This has been coming. Just have to hope there’s some good recruitment early in in Jan, we need 3 or 4 who can come straight into the starting line up.

On a really poor slump right now, the defending in particular has been woeful. A lot to clean up and have to hope they can find some quality in January to supplement the squad, because a few of these guys are just miles off it.

Will give it 5 minutes in the second half but can see me leaving very early.

This is as bad as the Hamilton game under Kenny or that run we had under Grant or the spell where we had all those injuries under McPake. Can`t even get basics right like getting to second balls, pressing as a unit, testing their keeper (who looks like he`ll concede if we hit the target high and hard).

James Bord is here , so perhaps it`s a cunning plan to persuade him to spend big money in January...

Seriously, there`s a huge gulf between these two teams. We have too many guys either playing out of their natural position, or out of form, or both.

Lennon is only back in the past few days so can`t blame him. The lineup is baffling but must be down to injuries otherwise that defensive lineup is bizarre.

Need to get stuck in now. Nothing to lose. Bring Barney on if nothing else.

We have to be honest , we have been rank rotten lately , I was talking on Thursday to a neebur from Ayr , and he told me that if Ayr score first against us we will cave in and it will end up being pars 0 - Ayr 5 , at present I am really glad I didn`t put a bet on with him
The Management have to take some of the blame for this **** show of late also instead of making excuse they are young lads and are going to make mistakes , we know that will happen but surely not week after week
Enough said as we have 45 mins to turn it around ( I wish )
As it stands only Ayr at present and Ross County have put 3 past us in the league
Queen of the south put 4 past us ,

Paying the price for not recruiting enough experience and keeping the likes of tash.

It’s like every single youngster has just hit the wall and we are chucking them out there hoping they play themselves back into form.

What a game for bord to come and watch. He’ll be wondering what he’s done, he’s spend a decent amount of money to only move us only 2-3 places up the table.

Wow suddenly we look like we might be a football team again! 3-2

A game of two halves. Shambolic first half, why does it take a 3 goal deficit for the Pars to show up? Should be playing like they did in the second half from the start.

The team shape first half was a joke, what were the management thinking?

As frustrating a game as it could be. A good second-half performance, but just not enough. Mid-table looks like a realistic ambition at the moment, when we keep failing to win at home. MOM for me, Ngwenya. Gilmour was good, too. But what a difference TOB made to our threat going forward after he came on for Hamilton—alas, zilch points. no Christmas bonus for us.

Disgusting performance in that first half, the shape and tactics were awful. Hamilton is not a fucken full back!!! Fans deserve better than we are watching atm.

We can forget the playoffs again, the obsession with young players is taking this club backwards. We need 2-3 old heads in the January window. It will be relegation playoffs at this rate.

Perplexing line-up and shape in the first half. Maybe this was because some players were carrying niggles or recovering from colds? At least changes got made and the second half performance was pretty decent. Anyone get a close view of the handball incidents? There seemed to be a decent shout for a penalty.

Glad to see Ngwenya showing what he can do.

I hope that the much-rumoured striker from the Italian league is coming in the new year. We are so weak up front. Barney apart, we offer nothing.

Andrew Tod is looking burnt out at the moment, and Zac Rudden constantly makes the wrong decisions. As for Chris Kane, his hold-up play is excellent, but two league goals aren`t a healthy return for our top striker. Kieran Ngwenya today equalled his total in one match.

The first half was a joke.

There not many teams that look better with 3 at the back but genuinely, I think we look better with 3 at the back and I think Ngwenya showed today he can play as the left centre back.

Hammy should be banned from Right back - sine die.

I still think Andy Tod needs subbed at some point. I don’t think leaving him on while he’s not performing well is helping him. I’d have left MacLeod on and taken A Tod off. Just isn’t offering enough. I think it’s his work rate tbh.

Slightly concerned about the Rovers game

I`d mostly put today`s mess at the door of the management team.

In hindsight it was probably the wrong shape & personnel in the first half. There`s been some odd choices in the last two games in terms of players in weird positions (Gilmour at CH midweek, Hamilton at RB today).

It was clearly not working in the first half and could maybe have been changed up sooner than waiting until half-time.

Happy we made a better fist of it in the second half but that`s a case of polishing a turd as the game was largely lost by then and Ayr probably took their foot of the gas.

Moaning about Chris Kanes goal return is quite something considering he hasn’t actually completed 90 minutes this season.

Everybody in the crowd and at the club knows, if he was able to keep fit week in week out he’s a 20+ goal striker easily.

This season so far

Andy Tod averages a goal every 162 minutes
Barney averages a goal every 180 minutes
Chris Kane averages a goal every 184 minutes

Don’t think it’s fair to say he should be scoring more than two, I agree he’s top scorer if he could play every game

Realistically the game was over after the 3rd goal. Yet another poor start. It was rinse and repeat of the last few games. I don`t think the keeper had a save to make 1st half. The trajectory is relegation scrap at the moment.

Andy tod absolutely needs a rest while he recoups to go again, how he started while Barney remains on the bench is baffling. His goals have been vital but when he’s not on his game we’re a man down and he hasn’t been on his game for some time now. Where was Kane today or had he already played this week?

Jury’s out on Macleod for me, couple of nice touches here and there but generally he’s anonymous for the majority of games, he’s one who should be coming off the bench most weeks while he adjusts to first team football but as we don’t have enough experienced quality in that role he’s got no competition.

Not expecting anything from next weeks game but absolutely have to beat county after that, ideally we can bring 1 or 2 in before the county game who can come straight in as badly need a refresh. No point brining on the likes of tash or KRH to try and get points.

We’re now 9th in the form table and are struggling to be competative in games until the game is pretty much over and out opponents ease off.

Very poor today. We never deserved anything from the game. Rallying second half 3 down nowhere near makes up for first half shambles. Team selection and formation also wanting.

For anyone thats watched us consistently since the St Johnstone game that first half was not surprising at all, we`ve been watching the same game over and over again for weeks.

That lineup today was shameful, I get we are struggling for defenders but Lennon has recruited that squad for a three at the back. Whenever we`ve played a four this season it hasn`t worked once. Hammy at right back and Matty in centre mid!? Wow. Dropped our best striker after he got us back into the game midweek. Mcleod and A Tod as wingers is baffling. The assistant manager takes absolutely zero responsibility for any of this in his post match interview btw.

The second half shows overall why we are not as bad as we have been in recent seasons because funnily enough we could easily have drawn that game but there are still far too many players from last season that are involved in the starting elevens, and that bench today speaks for itself.

At the moment I think we`ll struggle to finish above a Morton for example but January could swing that. Ultimately this season is a season of gelling good young players and getting the last of the deadwood out from the old regime for next season.

I`m not seeing much improvement in the younger players. Barney has come on well, and Robbie Fraser is a success story. I get the whole experience thing, but the corner in the last minute should have gone into the box. That`s not lack of experience, just poor decision-making. A poor decision to play a left back in central defence lost us the game. Not his fault and he more than made up for it with the goals. We are too static up front, don`t run into space or turn defenders. Alot of punting the ball today like QoS hatt just went back to Ayr.

Berkey I largely agree with your comment about MacLeod. I just think on the balance, Tod was offering nothing and MacLeod was at least willing to run. Tod needs a break, MacLeod needs games IMO. If we add to the squad in January, it will give us different options but for now-I’d be giving A Tod a rest and behind closed doors I’d be telling him his work rate needs to go up. He’s waiting for the ball and the game to come to him when he should be imposing himself on the game. Be a nuisance to the opposition defenders.

It`s not a good performance by any stretch of the imagination. We have a reputation of losing early goals and that won`t go unnoticed by other teams in the league. Full time players being beaten by part time players in Arbroath and QoS, you need to be asking yourself questions on what you need to do and how to change it. Dare I say it, we seem to be drifting back into the way we played under James McPake. Passing the ball back to the half way line when you are on the edge of the opponents box won`t win you games.

Fair enough but the exception doesnt prove the rule. We dont have any championship level wingers and struggle with one up top.

Genuinely don’t know where to start with that today, although a lot has already been said that I agree with.

The First Half was shocking, absolutely shocking, and it came as no surprise to me. That half has been coming for a while now, and although Ayr did have some good link up and patterns of play in the First Half, we made it far too easy for them. It was just shambolic and all wrong. We seem to bounce from calamity to calamity all across the park, and they are a good enough and well enough organised to pounce on that.

We beat them last time because we were aggressive and we got the ball forward quickly, we saw none of that in the First Half today. Back to playing horseshoe football, that’s got previous managers the sack, going nowhere with it and back to losing the midfield battle.

I’ll never leave a game early, but I can’t blame the many that did. Shambolic…..but is this the Management Team sending messages to the board for reinforcements?? For me, some tough decisions need made about some of these players.

Second Half….and the frustration them becomes, how ca we not play like that from the start?? The ball went forward, there aggression over the pitch and if they didn’t stay killing the game and the momentum, I did think there was a point where we were going to go on and win it.

The introduction of Steward & Bene made a difference. I just don’t get why neither started but both made a huge impact. Hamilton was shifted int Midfield and generally, we upped the tempo, upped the aggression and stopped playing in horseshoes.

To be fair, every sub looked like they were going to take their opportunity and fair play to them, they did. Even the much criticised TOB was wanting to get on the ball and get forward. It was great to see.

I get that we are missing a handful of big players, but I don’t get the change in style. If we keep doing what we are good at, we’re a bloody good team and we would have been well amongst the Play Off spots, but the points tally does look more “middle of the road”.

Mixed feelings today, but we really did watch the good, the bad and the ugly!

the change worked last week and along with the injuries/lack of fitness of defenders, try it again i presume was the thinking but its a far better opposition this week along with too many players going back to type in that first half and you end up with that.

too many mistakes made in the past that the club is still suffering from but more were added to this summer, going to struggle in January to fix any of the problems never mind even half of them.

Hammy was honking today.

I feared the worst when I seen Ngwenya at centre back but tbf to him he never done much wrong and scored a couple goals.

The first half was honestly the worst o can remember.

How the boy had a free header from 4/5 yards out with no challenge and seemed to wait ages for the ball to come down.

Today`s result firmly on management Hamilton at right back, seems they learnt nothing from Tuesdays debacle.
Changed it at halftime and we saw the difference but not enough to claw it back.
Hopefully they have learned for next weeks game a shambles of a first half.

I don`t know which of them picked the team today, but whoever it was needs to have a good think and reflect on a very bad decision. The shape looked to be something like 4-1-3-2 with Hamilton at right-back and Gilmour sitting in front of the defence and it was a poor setup, for a number of reasons.

Even if Bene wasn`t fit enough to start the game, it surely would have been much better to have Hamilton in the middle of a back 3 with Ngwenya left and Mullen right. Hamilton has generally done well when he`s played in the middle of a back 3 in the last couple of seasons, despite his lack of height. I just cannot see a sensible basis for playing him as a right-back.

There was also a lack of balance. Cooper, MacLeod and Tod can all offer something on their day, but a side with all 3, and another forward as well, is always likely to struggle to plug gaps when we lose the ball as there is very little defensive awareness between them.

Added to that, was the McPake-like lack of aggression that has plagued us for the last 6 games or so. I`ve been concerned of late that the focus seems to be to use as little energy as possible, rather than just trying to win the game. There have been a few games when I`ve felt a more energetic style would help, but it`s been something we`ve flatly reused to consider - until half-time today.

The second half was obviously a big improvement. The snobby footballistas can sneer if they want, but a big part of it was that we tried to be aggressive and were allowed to play energetically and make tackles.

We might have got a point from it and we probably had more of the second half than Ayr had of the first, but when you play as badly for a half as we did and let the game get away from us, it`s not unlucky to end up losing.

On the free kick right at the end, JUST GET IT IN THE ******* BOX. Would anyone disagree with that sentiment? Obviously it`s something they`ve been coached to do as we take pretty much every set piece short if it`s an option but it`s very frustrating, especially when we`re chasing for a late equaliser.

When the team news was posted today, I feared the worst. That certainly was the case in the 1st half. Dreadful team selection and 3 avoidable goals lost. Hammy is never a right back!! Better with Matty Todd playing there he has played that position in the past. A much better 2nd half, but we need to play for 90+ minutes every week. I don’t understand the criticism of Zak Rudden he chased so many lost causes and held the ball up well. There was no players supporting him/looking for a lay off. I think our early form raised too many expectations, unless we strengthen in the January transfer window we are going to be a mid table team this season.

I found Brunskill`s post match interview deeply concerning to be honest. Taking pretty much zero accountability from a coaching staff point of view that the team was set up to fail at the start.

Yes, the players are young and inconsistent generally, but from the management staff, you need to set them up properly to succeed. Think both Lennon and his staff need to have a bit of a look in the mirror for some of these failures

The lack of looking forward and driving forward has ben apparent for a few games now. Anyone can knock the ball around at the back or sideways. It`s harder to look forward, turn defenders or drive at them to create chances. Too happy to do the easy things. I personally don`t see the point in knocking the ball forward to the striker with their back to goal. This is especially so when nobody is running off them to receive the ball. They were easily able to defend that and really just strolled it into a 3 goal lead. Too static up front. I thought Barney and Zac had a good understanding when they were on the park together. I agree with others, its time for Todd to sit a few games out. He looks tired. I thought his decision making was poor today and his work rate has dropped.

We probably had enough chances to win over the whole game despite the appalling start but we didnt. The big injury break took away our momentum and you have to wonder how many Ayr united players ended up rolling about.

Think most of us looked at that line up and saw a disaster coming. Hammy? Ouch. But he played where he was put.

That last free kick summed up the wrong decision making that hurt us. Ended up at our corner flag where they managed to waste more time.

We dont seem to go into an away Raith game brimming with confidence.
