Five at the back only works if you’ve got runners ahead of it. Right now it’s just five defenders, two passers, and little to no movement.
Amade and Billy Gilmour are both tidy players who want the ball to feet. They both sit in front of the defence, which isn’t what we need, especially after conceding an early goal. We’ve got nobody breaking lines consistently. We seem happy to go sideways. Too safe, too slow and too Tidser like.
There’s no one dragging defenders out of shape or making runs in behind. Since the wins against Hibernian and St Johnstone, we’ve looked flat and short of ideas.
The sooner we can move Kane on, the better. He isn’t reliable, and unfortunately we can’t afford to have a striker who’s only available for cameo appearances. Without any real quality up top, it just turns into a back five, a flat midfield, and zero pace through the middle.
This is Andy Tod`s world and we are lucky to live in it.

Teams know that if they push men up in wider areas (even if it`s just two forwards) then the full backs can`t get forward. It`s the same reason why our record is so abysmal against Partick.
Moffat is roasting Fraser. Our only hope is that he tires and Kane can come on and hold up the long balls the defence are shelling forward.
For all the play we see across the back (`looking for a gap` as Tidser used to say) it still often ends punted long forward and just comes straight back.

Kearney not having his best game and Thomas seems unwilling to shoot and not really working for Matty Todd and him. Amade has had some lovely direct balls through which I think players like Cooper and Andy Tod would do more with. Once again relying on too many crosses in from out wide and not having anyone on the end of them (unlike Chris Kane who is on the bench).

A boat load of money spent and how many more points has it earned us over previous seasons? Not a good return on investment so far and if this keeps up you would include the manager in that as he made some really poor choices recently.
We haven’t rectified the problems from last year or the year before. We’re relatively tight at the back but that because we are so defensive.

Hopeless all over tonight. Should be much more, they’ve missed a penalty and Terrell made too very impressive saves early on.
Morton passing us off the park for the majority of the game, as for Mullen, he’s not doing to well in trying to advertise himself in the shop window off recent performances .

Far from being a young team on the up a few have gone backwards as the season has progressed and the like or Morrison don’t look like they will take us forward.
Just so poor again, zero resilience and terrible mentality. Outplayed yet again by a team who wanted it more.

Getting some of the ball now that Morton just seeing the game out. Masks nothing. Gutless trash they have come up with tonight is a disgrace. See this far too many times this season/ The youth excuse is wearing thin. At what point do they start to learn? Attitude is the real problem. They lack fight against teams that come at them with aggression. They are soft and don`t match teams for desire.

Once again we got exactly what was merited !
Just not good enough and i do not want to hear the excuse of work in progress we are too predictable and on most occasions lump the ball up the park and it just comes back again ,
for me at present this is no better than the last couple of seasons it`s once again Turgid and not an easy watch

Utterly dreadful. Far below the acceptable standards.
Out fought. Not enough steel in that team. Too many young laddies.
Needed to change the shape at half time, it clearly wasn’t working.
Not even going to bother going through individuals because I’d be here all night pointing out faults. Suffice to say some of them should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. The summer window can’t come quick enough.
Keith Bray must be baffled as to how he can’t get in that team.
Please can we play 442 against partick? They’ll just dismantle us up the wings otherwise.

Up to the front three, that`s the starting line up I`d play every week.
BUT, Kearney was poor and Fraser had one of his worst performances.
Up front Morrison was pushed off the ball every time he had possession and Thomas was anonymous. Matty Todd is a trier, but he wasn`t on his game (again).
Honestly, I think the set up was wrong. We could/should have opted for one or even two extra men in midfield.
NL usually owns it when he gets it wrong, but he should have changed it in the first half.
Too many players were off it tonight, but the tactics were also wrong.

Is the cup a distraction? Teams sometimes underperform when they`ve got a significant cup game coming up - players hold back because they don`t wanna be injured. I know NL says he thinks the cup run should be a boost to our play, but that`s not happening.
It`s hard to figure how we could beat Rovers, Hibs and Saints and now we seem to have a crisis of confidence again.
If inconsistency is still our middle name we`re due another stunning performance and victory soon!

tonight was not a surprise, seen it far too many times with this squad whether thats with Lennon in charge or before, throw a couple of different players in there for Saturday and will it work? i wouldnt put a penny on it.

For all the AI and that p*sh we keep bringing in players tha are not suited for this division. Bringing in Thomas was a missed opportunity. Still not convinced Matty Todd is good enough. Our midfield is never consistent and our decent striker, Kane can’t do 90 mins. Anyone else up front seems ineffective!
Teams just seem so better organised than we are. Why is this? Airdrie were a prime example.
Maybe Lennon needs a better number 2. Maybe his back room staff are not good enough?
I’m losing confidence in this ‘roller coaster’ season. It’s making me depressed and ruining my life 🥹.

I’d play 3-5-1 on Saturday.
No point in just putting forwards up top that can’t do their job.
Morrison is a waste of a wage btw.
So many of our goals come from set pieces so let’s just flood the midfield and hope we can open up Arbroath that way.
We’ve let so many of our young strikers go out on loan too.
We’ve let have Cooper stuck on the bench who impressed early season but hadn’t had a decent run since his injury.
We need to do something different.
