Like most games in this great league, no idea how it will go! I think Ayr will be pushing for promotion, so will give us a real game. Let`s see

Was at Inverness last weekend, cracking weekend, but we did well to get away with a point.

I hope The Ox is playing....
Really looking forward to it

Sucker punch there.

Not brilliant from the goalkeeper. Under the ball, bit flappy.

1-1 not a fair reflection of the first half.

Sliced boot up the park went the total wrong way to gift them a corner. Get 2 more corners and keepers flapping for the cross.

First 2 corners went to the back post and they never learned their lesson and bang, guess where the 3rd corner went.

Poor goalkeeping cost us there. Dibaga made a good save at the first of the three corners, but that was his ball all the way at the last one and he’s completely misjudged it.

We love giving away gifts like. We have done well overall but they get quite a bit of space in our half to do what they want. They need closed down quicker and our midfield need to join in the attack more when we get going forward, sometimes looks slow.

Completely against run of play. Been impressed by Fraser and Shaw and great goal from Tod . But we are so slow in posession- not enough men in front of the ball when we attack. When Kearney has received a pass only once did he play the
ball forward and that resulted in a goal.

Disappointing end to a generally decent half. We should have been more than one goal in front, then the howler wouldn`t have mattered. Lovely build up and finish for Andrew Tod`s goal, just wish Kearney had the confidence to go past his man, cos he can cross a good ball. Really impressed by Oli Shaw, not just a goalscorer but lots of nice touches. Hope we get an early goal in the second half.

Thought it was keeper error at first, but need to look back at it. Think he struggled to get through the mass of bodies, and all our markers well beaten in the air at the back post.

Apart from that we’ve played well and dominated. Do the same second half and we should come out of it with 3 points.

Good to watch a game and not worry about the ref at all, nothing to do for him so far.

Sorry, Nick, but it had plenty to do with the keeper. Marking played a part, and I don`t think I saw anybody at the post, but the goalie completely fluffed his role at the third corner.

Poor goalkeeping from Digby cost us that goal. Need to be catching or punching that away. Ox wouldn’t concede that goal.

Shame because it’s been a very good first half performance pretty much all round. Amade, Shaw, Kane, Fraser, Kearney, Harding all had a great first half.

Mixed start to the second half, not quite as dominant as we were in the first half.

Should have won it given how much of the ball we had, but we’re not making a lot of good chances at this point. The deliveries from Kearney and Fraser were generally not great and there’s not a lot of creativity through the middle.

Definitely 2 points dropped today. Plenty of the game, often too slow and indecisive in the final third though. Cooper and Bray unlucky near the end. Kearney needs to sharpen up, far too often misplacing passes and not positive enough.

Much better than last week`s performance. Shame we gave away the soft goal on half time and couldn`t get the same level of performance for most of the second half.

Frustrating we can go from stroking the ball about nicely and with purpose, like we did early first half, but then fall into slo-mo sideways stuff like a lot of the second half.

Gimour in particular seemed frustrated with options ahead of him but watching on tv it`s difficult to see how much movement is/isn`t happening until the camera pans forward.

Unbeaten start to the league season not to be sniffed at and we`re still bedding in a number of new arrivals so overall I`m feeling positive.

Slightly lucky to get a point last week. Slightly unlucky to only get a point this week. It`s early days, but Thistle already seem to have shown their intent.

Olamilekan looked pretty good when he came on. I love Amade and his defensive play was excellent, but he panicked a bit around the box today.

We look like we could be good, but will a slow start trip us up again?

Exactly this. Tactics is good vs teams in higher league but disastrous in this league. Unless you have amazing wingback and ball playing defenders, it won`t work.

I felt Ayr were good competition for us today. A strong team but sometimes their finishing just wasn’t good / astray.

I liked Adams when he came on, albeit briefly. He got stuck in and his passing was good. Perhaps a wee bit nervous but he’ll get there with more game time.

Kearney doesn`t seem to have the ability to beat a man so ultimately it stops and comes backwards. I`d be tempted to have a look at Ewan McLeod next week, he did well in a short cameo against St Mirren. I worry that Lennon is somewhat invested in Kearney though

I won’t hear a bad word about Tod, he’s one of us so should get a game for life regardless of form, chronic lack of pace or physical presence or overall contribution for 89minutes.

Am I doing this right? Tbf he does know where the goal is but for the vast majority of the game he’s not at the races.

We have a nasty habit of signing players who are miles off fitness after the season has started! at least Adam’s looks relatively up to speed

Well, we were robbed, ref started out ok, but in the end was dire.
Keeper was good other a mistake at their goal..
We dominated the game, but struggled to link to the front, amade was good, but made a few silly passes. Kane again was excellent.
Lots of possession, never at risk other than goal, but did struggle at corners.
Too many sideways or backwards passes. And not enough cutting passes forward.
However against one of the keague favourites, we dominated, so in time it will be good.

Disagree a bit, Westie. He had the beating of the left back a few times. He did go past his man to set up the goal and skinned the left back and should have shot in the second half but he opted to stand it up.

Didn’t like the formation first half, weren’t penetrating their defence enough, think we had one shot on target and thankfully Tod found the net.

The equaliser I always felt was coming, there was an inevitability about it the way we were playing.

Totally different team second half, hard to say we deserved the win as thought Ayr missed a chance that they would’ve scored 9 times out 10.

Offensively thought we weren’t really linking up well, need time to bed in. I’ve said my piece on another thread about A.Tod, other than the goal thought he was poor again.

Point in the end not a bad result but frustrating that we’re chasing already, Livvy away next as well which will be a very difficult tie.

Some nice passages of play at times, but our final ball or decision making let us down. A fine save from the goalie prevented us getting three points.
A poor goal to lose and we never learned our lesson. At least three times we were done from corners at the back post. Lucky to not lose one in the second half.
I thought Ayr were quite decent. They had a good 20 minute spell in the second half. They defended very well, by and large. Ben Summers has filled out and he looked neat and tidy.
Fraser our best player today. Big Sam is a good player too.
Our newest signing showed enough to suggest he could be an asset.
4 points behind Partick already. They are the team to beat this season.
Forgot about Ross Taylor second half. Did everything right with two dummies then fluffed his lines when easier to score. Definitely got lucky there.

It’s a game of fine margins sometimes, if Cooper scored at ICT and Bray got that in we’d be 6 points and looking pretty.

We weren`t brave enough in the final third. They could and should have scored goals rom their corners. Some of the final balls into the box were easy to defend. Predicatable and too slow going forward at time I thought

Don`t think we needed the back 3 and Gilmour + Amade on for as long as we did. We had essentially 5 players sitting doing nothing as Ayr were just camped in their own half.

There were no runners from the middle of the park to drag players out of position to leave space open for the wingbacks (at least not until Cooper came on). When Bray came on against St Mirren he was really positive in bringing the ball forward and winning fouls, no idea why Lennon waited until the 89th minute to bring him on.

The game was there to be won against a team that came for a point, we need to be an awful lot better in attack as far too often we overplay the passes or slow the tempo to allow the other team to regroup.

Berry perhaps it’s fine margins but perhaps having those 2 chances fall to better players can be the difference.

We didn’t have an attacking midfielder today and Lenny is playing Tod in behind the strikers which in this formation is a very important role to link it all together but that’s not what Tod does.

Hopefully Allan can be that player, adding legs and physicality in there aswell as helping create would go a long way.

A bit disappointing today the goal was the only slick passage of play, too slow and to much disconnect between the lines and some off the boys were off it, never mind hopefully Lenny gets it sorted and a points better than none

Ayr moved the ball quickly and created space. At times our tackles were into fresh air. Losing a goal from a corner is disappointing. A goalkeeping error. The wsrning signs were there as we failed to pick them up several times giving them free headers. Ayr ran out of steam the last 15 mins, but we didn`t have any punch in the final third. Its a game of probabilities. We didn`t get good balls into the box or shots off when we had the opportunity. The keeper made one good save in the 2nd half. That was it.

We lost because 3 central defender and 3 strikers couldnt defend 1st corner ,free header totally unmarked ,keeper made a good save, 2nd corner keeper palms away from unmarked Ayr player at the back post 3rd corner keeper has gave up on our defenders and decides to come for it , didnt make it , guess what free header for Ayr player goal , should have been 2 for Ayr in the 2nd half , we cannot defend corners snd are rubhish at out own corners .

We were chronic today once we scored. The inability to deal with any ball into either box, especially considering the size of our team, is going to continue to hurt us unless it’s addressed.

A RWB has to be a priority because Kearney just isn’t up to much. Both Tod and Shaw were rubbish up top today as well.

It’s still very early days, but based on the first two games, we’ve looked bang average at best. Plenty of work to do.

This is Andy Tod`s world and we are lucky to live in it.

Not getting the criticism of Shaw. I thought he had an excellent first half, but admit poor touches let him down a bit in the second half. I think he`ll be our top scorer this season.

Sharing the views about why Keith Bray isn`t getting more game time. He may not yet be ready to start, but is surely worth more than a couple of minutes.

Sam C-H has decent distribution and his John Tod-like run in the first half deserved a goal. I thought two brilliant saves in the game from Harry Stone.

Thought Ayr were dreadful today. Really was two points dropped. Thought we played well
Overall just lacking the final ball. Kearney needs to improve his final ball and also stop playing the safe pass backwards.

I see we have our new scapegoat in Tod, not his best game but doesn’t warrant the criticism he gets on here.

Some absolutely wild takes on this thread as usual.

Keeper was mostly fine apart from the goal.
Kearney was absolutely fine, one of our better performers in the first half and was one of the few outlets when Ayr had their good spell in the second half. It appears he`s the new scapegoat.
Tod waa absolutely fine too, you know what you`re getting from him - endeavour, chaos, and the chance that he scores or creates something out of nothing. He tried a few things that didn`t come off today but at least he tried something.

Overall we controlled the game for long spells, with Ayr time wasting from about the 60th minute mark (not helped by a referee that aided their time wasting antics) and but for a truly outstanding save at the death we`d have come away with a deserved three points.

Only issues for me today was the poor defending at their goal, the lack of any creativity in the final third (they came for a point and even at 1-0 down they were intent on keeping it tight), the way our defenders dived in on a few occasions, and how sloppy we were in possession in the middle part of the second half (even the usually reliable Amade and Gilmour were giving it away constantly).

Great ball from Amade for the goal. He had a few stray passes today. Thought Gilmour had a poor game compared to his usual standard. We thought Ollie Shaw and Chris Kane got into some good positions in the box, but the crosses didn`t find them. We didn`t think Ayr awere a great side. These are the games we need to win, but too passive in the final third.

seen that so many times in the last year, a lot of huff and puff with a handful of bits of quality and conceding not quite a comical goal but close to it from a needless set of poor decisions or lack of ability.......yet could have won it with Bray`s effort which he probably catches it too well in a way.

maybe Adams and Oyirwoth will be the difference makers in the future but can see a lot of games playing out like today more often than not.

Frustrated. Very frustrated.

I thought we started very well and controlled much of the first half. Then we scored and, at that point, it became a case of “how many will we get?” However, we seemed to create very little after that.

It felt inevitable that we’d concede a goal like that. Ayr pounced on our individual errors all game and were effective at doing so. I said it last season and I’ll say it again, but we are appalling, yes, appalling, at defending and attacking corners. It’s actually laughable at times and Ayr had obviously identified that as something they could exploit.

Musa went from hero to flop in about 30 seconds. The save he pulled off first was everything you want from your Goalkeeper. For the resulting corner, though, he’s never getting to that while leaning back. He should have just pivoted, got himself set and been ready for whatever shot came in.

The third corner for the goal was similar. Yes, the defending was poor, but he’s never getting that and has sucked himself into the cross. Honestly, what is it with goalkeepers at our club? I don’t buy into the criticism that he should never play again, though. What I would ask is how he went from third choice to first choice in the space of a week? I’m not saying Terrell was any better, but Musa’s inclusion seems a strange one.

I thought we looked so disjointed when the second half started. Ayr definitely became the more likely side to score and probably should have when Ross Taylor tied our defence in knots, only to blast over the bar. However, it was during that period that some of our poor performers really started to show.

We all love him, but my God, Andy Tod was awful today (goal aside). He continually gave the ball away and offered very little. Shea Kearney really isn’t the answer in that RWB role either. I want to like him, I really do, but he’s not there yet, certainly not if we have genuine aspirations of winning this league or getting promoted. He’s got it in him, but not consistently enough.

I heard a wee rumour before the game that a lad had signed from Bristol City. If that’s true and he’s a RWB, I’d be giving Euan McLeod a try against Ross County.

Amade frustrated the people around me, but the sheer nature of his game, trying to force the ball through and make things happen, means he’s going to give it away from time to time. I actually thought he had a good game. I also thought it was possibly the best Oli Shaw has played for us, but the introduction of “Oli” Adams will undoubtedly be the main talking point.

You could feel the sense of expectation when he took to the park and I thought he did well. He looked lively, his link up play was levels above what Tod had been offering, and he left a really positive first impression. He looks a little raw, but he certainly looked effective.

For me, though, the star of the show up front was Chris Kane. Again, his work rate and link up play was top notch. We probably take him for granted a wee bit, but with Kane, Shaw, Adams and Rudden along with Tod who is regularly pushed further forward, we’ve got some amount of competition up there.

I’ll end by saying that we’ve still to click, but there are signs that when we do, we’ll be okay. I just hope we’re not left playing catch up again, because we’re already four points behind the league leaders.

I think Josh Cooper deserves a mention for the way he played when he came on. Very intelligent player and so unlucky not to score again. A lot of good things to take from that game despite not winning. We have come a long way in a year and some of the negativity on here is unwarranted. The bottom line is it is enjoyable to watch the Pars again after years in the doldrums. Some people have short memories.

The negativity here is unbelievable. We were the best side today by a country mile and should have won at a canter. Ayr were good defensively and countered our press pretty well and I expect them to be challenging at the top. But we could have won this by 3 or 4. The new signings all looked good considering we had a completely new back three.

Agreed. Disappointed with the goal conceded but the keeper made a good save just before, leading to the first corner,so willing to cut him a bit of slack.

Thought we were by far the better team throughout & that save at the end was top notch to win a point for the visitors.

Seen a lot worse games and not too despondent after that today.

Hopefully the new lads will fit in well and once the team gells, think we`ll do ok this year 😎🤞🏼🏁

We deserved the win, sympathy for the goalie who made a mistake but seemed to be defending corners by himself. Todd needs to get involved in the physical side of the game or he will find himself dropping out of the picture. Lennon has signed a couple of physical strong players so he obviously sees that as an area we lack in.

Wee eck perhaps we are being unfair to Tod, he should be playing upfront where putting the ball in the net is what matters the most, playing him in behind 2 strikers doesn’t work in this formation as you need more from your number 10 at this level.

That one is on Lenny, we’ve signed a couple this week to at least give us options so there is something between amade and gilmour and the strikers.

In the past 10 seasons, the 7 eventual winners won both their opening games. The other 3 at least won 1. Although it’s early to judge, by those readings we don’t trend as league winners.
Kearney has met criticism for yesterday’s performance due to the lack of desire to actually go by a man. Yes, he done well to be in space to get on the ball for the assist but Ayr were miles out of shape and left him a 3rd of the park and plenty time to think. When he’s given the ball and asked to make a defender work he turns back.
Regarding Tod, to basically say be happy he scored and pipe down is ridiculous. His decision making is really poor and probably cost us another 3 or 4 chances on goal yesterday. A brilliant prospect but unless he works on that he will frustrate the majority of fans.

I think in all walks of life organisations and people reflect on what they can do better. Its not criticism its just a reflection on both personal and team performance and decision making.

Teams will sit in this season at EEP so its how that can be broken down. It was good to see Alfons having a go from the edge of the box in the last few games. Sometimes we have just overplayed it in that area of the park when we may get better results from just having a go and testing the keeper.

Lennon, unlike a lot of fans, knows what Tod brings to the team and won`t be dropping a guy who has scored 5 goals in 6 games. It`s incredible that in this thread the two players who produced the goal attracted so much criticism.

This !!!
Chris Boyd the premier leagues top goalscorer did nothing in a game apart from score goals

I think if we rely on A Tod to score all our goals this season we are in trouble. We need goals from other areas of the park defence, midfield amd forward line. We need to be a threat from everywhere.

Regularly amuses and puzzles me on here when the fact we scored a goal from a cross/shot is trotted out as some sort of defence against criticism that the vast majority of the rest our crosses/shots were honking.

Is that our lot in life as a Pars fan? One decent cross per game?

Two things can be true at the same time. We can score from a cross and generally have crossed poorly the rest of the game.

Comes in for a lot of criticism for his general play, but hard to leave out, due to the goals he scores.

Tod sometimes reminds me of Lewis McCann with his body language. He doesn’t look as if he is enjoying a game…apart from when he scores obviously. I guess he set the himself high targets in games and it shows in his demeanor if he is not having his best game. None of the front three played particularly well yesterday.

I feel the team would benefit from another midfielder on the park ( Oyirwoth or Cooper, Morrison or Bray ) and start with just two up front..

What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

"Regarding Tod, to basically say be happy he scored and pipe down is ridiculous. His decision making is really poor and probably cost us another 3 or 4 chances on goal yesterday. "

and Shaw was the same, the one he messed up after being played through by Kane which was about the only link up between the front 3 summed up the forward play for the day.

It just wasn`t really our day, a lot of poor decision making in the final third. I actually thought Shaw generally had an okay performance linking up with the play but the chemistry isn`t there yet with Tod or Kane. Tod had a poor game other than his finish, but I thought Kane was mostly excellent until he tired in the second half. Something just isn`t clicking there in terms of our patterns in attack.

I`d really like to see Cooper and Bray get more games as I think they speed things up on the transition and are capable of something a bit different to what we`re currently seeing in attack from our starters.

Amade and Gilmour are more often than not a very good midfield duo but they were rendered mostly unnecessary due to how deep Ayr were defending, in games like that I`d like to see Lennon switch it up and be more aggressive at home.

I lost count of the number of times someone made a break away and there was maybe only one or two other runners up with him when Ayr were scrambling and then we played the ball backwards again. Hopefully Oyirworth is someone that can bring that to our squad. Adams also added a bit of energy near the end and maybe can provide a new dynamic to what we have in attack.

I`m a great fan of Kane`s but he wasn`t at his best yesterday. At times his first touch was poor and resulted in him having to make neck-or-nothing challenges to recover the ball which slowed down our attacks even when he won it. His frustration ended up with him getting booked and subbed.

As stated above his general play cost us another 3-4 chances yesterday. Too often he broke to then make the wrong decision, or try to beat a man and was brushed off the ball like a feather. And thats not including his hold up play, which was awful. He was like a pinball machine when the ball got played into him in a direct manner.

If the answer to this is yes, it shows how poor he was yesterday - would Shaw or Kane have scored his goal yesterday from the same position?

I dont recognise the level of negativity. I thought we were excellent. There isnt a game where players dont make mistakes.

Our best performance for a long time and early in the season. At least 2 excellent saves from their keeper that kept them in the game.

Plus, they weren`t in that position nor were they on the end of similar chances.

I think some of the criticism is fair but for me, all 3 of Tod, Kane and Shaw is too much. I`d be rotating in one of Tod/Kane and another creative player/pace instead.

Cooper is a strange one. He looked good yesterday, but history tells us that if we start him next week, he’s more likely to be hooked after an hour for being absent. If he can find some consistency in his performances, he could be an asset.

This is Andy Tod`s world and we are lucky to live in it.

The post above referring to Chris Boyd, can you imagine how effective he would be playing as a number 10 in behind 2 strikers? There was a reason he played as a striker all that was expected of him was to put it in the net.

We’re playing a young striker with very little else to his game as a number 10 and wondering how we’re not creating more or moving the ball fast enough and lots of moves are breaking down.

Put a proper number 10 in there with some intelligent movement and quality on the ball and we would worry teams that sit in a bit more.

Leave Tod upfront to get on the end of things.

Enjoyed yesterday’s game, my first of the season (as my username would suggest) even if the result was a little frustrating.
Back three looked decent, Robinson offering the strength and experience, Donnelly the ability to quickly reset the angle of attack and Cleall-Harding a class act with an exceptional first touch for a CB.
Some pleasing passing moves nevertheless ending (as last season) with poor crosses or an unwillingness to have a pop from the D. Great cameo from Adams at the end, his ‘ball boy’ antics riling the Ayr players and rousing the crowd, and adding a bit of dynamism just as we had begun to run out of ideas.
With Abdulai, Corbally, Rudden and Oxborough still missing, a decent performance which with a bit more luck would have been a well-deserved narrow win.

going by what Lennon said on Oyirwoth, legs and energy, didnt mention being a creative type.

sometimes you stumble upon something that works and is worth continuing, last season it was Tod as a striker, its not quite been abandoned since Christmas but it definitely isnt plan A with the other forwards brought in now and doesnt get the best out of Tod or the team overall.

not sure the system will change or another number 10 type will come in though.

There’s certainly a comparison between Tod and Kris Boyd but I actually don’t think Tod is ready to lead a line yet. Boyd was never brushed off the ball as easily as Tod. Tod still needs to improve that part of his game. His movement is good and he knows where the net is (as Eck said in fairness) but on the flip side, he can be weak in possession of the ball and is guilty of waiting for the game to come to him. Kris Boyd would always put himself on the end of a cross. Perhaps if the service from the right was better, we’d see more of that from Tod.

I think A Tod is very effective when he is running with the ball at his feet, but his first touch at times I think lets him down. He is always very closely marked so is not afforded time on the ball but if he can control the ball a bit better to give him that little bit more time he will be much better. Not easy in the heat of a game and with players around you closing you down quickly, but thats my main thought.

Again. The negativity. We have a team vastly improved. New signings look on point. We are generally a young side and still developing. Especially Andy Tod who most teams would like in their squad. We totally dominated possession on Saturday and were unlucky not to win. We may not get promoted but Lennon is trying to strengthen the squad with the backing of the owners who were at the game. Let`s maybe get behind the team. We`re not perfect but we`re making progress. Let`s be a bit more positive?

I don`t have any concerns for this season because were are a stronger squad than last season. Granted, we are a little behind the curve given the reorganisation, but those who have come in, I personally think will improve us over last season. Its not an individual player issue, its about working as a team to become more than the sum of the parts. I always think that if you do the hard work to get up the park, focus and do something with the ball while you are up there.

I pretty much agree with you India… I just think he needs to get better at it before you’d ask him to lead the line. Jamie Vardy can do it and his main strength is running in behind.

Btw I realise Jamie Vardy could be an unfair comparison-when I’m thinking of a striker that isn’t a big guy but can lead a line he’s the first one I thought off.

NMC - The odd thing for me is that A Tod is quite a big lad. I see him around Kinross a fair bit. I am not sure if he falls over looking for a foul or is just pushed off the ball a little too easily. He is still young so maybe that will change this season.

I don`t think anyone would dispute that, and I think it is wrong to expect him to score every week and then blame him if he doesn`t score. Other players need to chip in with goals. We were fortunate last season as Barney score a few early doors. I`d like to see Keith Bray get more game time this season as he seems to be improving as a goal threat.

He does get a lot of rough treatment. I noticed their number 5, Kevin Holt (who looks like exactly the experienced organiser we need in our team) had a very robust clash with him then kneeled on his ribs when Andrew was trying to get up. It would have been a sore one, he does seem to be targeted by the tougher players. Keeps coming back for more though

I wouldn’t say he’s targeted for the success he’s had anyone who’s been at the games since he started playing for us can you tell that it’s because he doesn’t have the strength to hold off players and his touch isn’t the greatest either so if you put the right amount of pressure on him more times than not he will turn the ball over

What I will say tho is he is probably one out of only a couple of players in the squad if he gets the time and space to win you a game he will

I think that we certainly look more comfortable on the ball and move the ball well, even with Ayr pressing. Hopefully we can turn that dominance into goals with just being more confident and positive in and around the box. At least if you can get a shot off on target, there is always a chance of a deflection, the keeper making a mistake or getting a rebound from a save. Hopefully Charlie, Alfons or Josh can chip in with goals this season

Ayr have won every competitive game they’ve played this season and we should have won.

Other than the poor defending from set pieces and a couple of chances that came from our errors our defence did really well. With Oxbourough in goal and Abdulai back I’m sure it’s something we’ll
Improve on. With the new lads we’ve signed, both are over 6’ I think so will add some height and should help with defending free kicks.

Our goal on Saturday was a really good team goal. Great ball from Amade, run from Kearney who picks out Andy Tod who had checked his run to make space and then finished well. Amade can play some great passes but did give the ball away easily play times and in the second half on a number of occasions rather than try and make a pass forward he decided not to and passed sideways back or forwards. I like Amade, he definitely improves our midfield.

Kearney defended well all game. Too often he will get in a position but rather than take his player on will kist pass the ball back. He was hugging the touchline ans often had acres of space in front of him but was always looking for the ball played to him rather than i to the space for him to run onto. Exception was of course the goal.

Andy Tod is a really food finisher. He is also good at running at defenders and hits shots very early which are normally on target and don’t give the goalie time to set. Certainly strikes the ball better than most. That said he was frustrating on Saturday other than the goal. Poor touch, wrong options although I don’t mind him trying things like taking the player on, just never worked for him. Goes down looking for fouls too easily and definitely needs to get some creatine gummies and himself to the gym.

Liked the look of the new lad up front. The lad next to me in the stand said he had been here for two weeks in training and had looked ‘outstanding’, although I wasn’t sure if he was talking about the new striker or Oyirwoth.

Anyway I’m optimistic for the season ahead based on what I’ve seen.

Exactly this. He`s done well to get his goals, but to be a complete striker, he needs to add more to his game. That`s to be expected from a young player and highlights areas for him to improve; it isn`t folk targeting him.

This is Andy Tod`s world and we are lucky to live in it.

I think the potential to improve and take our performances to a higher level exists this season with the team that is being built. We reached a plateau last season towards the end. I think there is more potential in the squad this year that we can hopefully turn into winning performances.
