Like most games in this great league, no idea how it will go! I think Ayr will be pushing for promotion, so will give us a real game. Let`s see

Was at Inverness last weekend, cracking weekend, but we did well to get away with a point.

I hope The Ox is playing....
Really looking forward to it

Sucker punch there.

Not brilliant from the goalkeeper. Under the ball, bit flappy.

1-1 not a fair reflection of the first half.

Sliced boot up the park went the total wrong way to gift them a corner. Get 2 more corners and keepers flapping for the cross.

First 2 corners went to the back post and they never learned their lesson and bang, guess where the 3rd corner went.

Poor goalkeeping cost us there. Dibaga made a good save at the first of the three corners, but that was his ball all the way at the last one and he’s completely misjudged it.

We love giving away gifts like. We have done well overall but they get quite a bit of space in our half to do what they want. They need closed down quicker and our midfield need to join in the attack more when we get going forward, sometimes looks slow.

Completely against run of play. Been impressed by Fraser and Shaw and great goal from Tod . But we are so slow in posession- not enough men in front of the ball when we attack. When Kearney has received a pass only once did he play the
ball forward and that resulted in a goal.

Disappointing end to a generally decent half. We should have been more than one goal in front, then the howler wouldn`t have mattered. Lovely build up and finish for Andrew Tod`s goal, just wish Kearney had the confidence to go past his man, cos he can cross a good ball. Really impressed by Oli Shaw, not just a goalscorer but lots of nice touches. Hope we get an early goal in the second half.

Thought it was keeper error at first, but need to look back at it. Think he struggled to get through the mass of bodies, and all our markers well beaten in the air at the back post.

Apart from that we’ve played well and dominated. Do the same second half and we should come out of it with 3 points.

Good to watch a game and not worry about the ref at all, nothing to do for him so far.

Sorry, Nick, but it had plenty to do with the keeper. Marking played a part, and I don`t think I saw anybody at the post, but the goalie completely fluffed his role at the third corner.

Poor goalkeeping from Digby cost us that goal. Need to be catching or punching that away. Ox wouldn’t concede that goal.

Shame because it’s been a very good first half performance pretty much all round. Amade, Shaw, Kane, Fraser, Kearney, Harding all had a great first half.

Mixed start to the second half, not quite as dominant as we were in the first half.

Should have won it given how much of the ball we had, but we’re not making a lot of good chances at this point. The deliveries from Kearney and Fraser were generally not great and there’s not a lot of creativity through the middle.

Definitely 2 points dropped today. Plenty of the game, often too slow and indecisive in the final third though. Cooper and Bray unlucky near the end. Kearney needs to sharpen up, far too often misplacing passes and not positive enough.

Much better than last week`s performance. Shame we gave away the soft goal on half time and couldn`t get the same level of performance for most of the second half.

Frustrating we can go from stroking the ball about nicely and with purpose, like we did early first half, but then fall into slo-mo sideways stuff like a lot of the second half.

Gimour in particular seemed frustrated with options ahead of him but watching on tv it`s difficult to see how much movement is/isn`t happening until the camera pans forward.

Unbeaten start to the league season not to be sniffed at and we`re still bedding in a number of new arrivals so overall I`m feeling positive.

Slightly lucky to get a point last week. Slightly unlucky to only get a point this week. It`s early days, but Thistle already seem to have shown their intent.

Olamilekan looked pretty good when he came on. I love Amade and his defensive play was excellent, but he panicked a bit around the box today.

We look like we could be good, but will a slow start trip us up again?

Exactly this. Tactics is good vs teams in higher league but disastrous in this league. Unless you have amazing wingback and ball playing defenders, it won`t work.

I felt Ayr were good competition for us today. A strong team but sometimes their finishing just wasn’t good / astray.

I liked Adams when he came on, albeit briefly. He got stuck in and his passing was good. Perhaps a wee bit nervous but he’ll get there with more game time.

Kearney doesn`t seem to have the ability to beat a man so ultimately it stops and comes backwards. I`d be tempted to have a look at Ewan McLeod next week, he did well in a short cameo against St Mirren. I worry that Lennon is somewhat invested in Kearney though

I won’t hear a bad word about Tod, he’s one of us so should get a game for life regardless of form, chronic lack of pace or physical presence or overall contribution for 89minutes.

Am I doing this right? Tbf he does know where the goal is but for the vast majority of the game he’s not at the races.

We have a nasty habit of signing players who are miles off fitness after the season has started! at least Adam’s looks relatively up to speed

Well, we were robbed, ref started out ok, but in the end was dire.
Keeper was good other a mistake at their goal..
We dominated the game, but struggled to link to the front, amade was good, but made a few silly passes. Kane again was excellent.
Lots of possession, never at risk other than goal, but did struggle at corners.
Too many sideways or backwards passes. And not enough cutting passes forward.
However against one of the keague favourites, we dominated, so in time it will be good.

Disagree a bit, Westie. He had the beating of the left back a few times. He did go past his man to set up the goal and skinned the left back and should have shot in the second half but he opted to stand it up.

Didn’t like the formation first half, weren’t penetrating their defence enough, think we had one shot on target and thankfully Tod found the net.

The equaliser I always felt was coming, there was an inevitability about it the way we were playing.

Totally different team second half, hard to say we deserved the win as thought Ayr missed a chance that they would’ve scored 9 times out 10.

Offensively thought we weren’t really linking up well, need time to bed in. I’ve said my piece on another thread about A.Tod, other than the goal thought he was poor again.

Point in the end not a bad result but frustrating that we’re chasing already, Livvy away next as well which will be a very difficult tie.

Some nice passages of play at times, but our final ball or decision making let us down. A fine save from the goalie prevented us getting three points.
A poor goal to lose and we never learned our lesson. At least three times we were done from corners at the back post. Lucky to not lose one in the second half.
I thought Ayr were quite decent. They had a good 20 minute spell in the second half. They defended very well, by and large. Ben Summers has filled out and he looked neat and tidy.
Fraser our best player today. Big Sam is a good player too.
Our newest signing showed enough to suggest he could be an asset.
4 points behind Partick already. They are the team to beat this season.
Forgot about Ross Taylor second half. Did everything right with two dummies then fluffed his lines when easier to score. Definitely got lucky there.

It’s a game of fine margins sometimes, if Cooper scored at ICT and Bray got that in we’d be 6 points and looking pretty.

We weren`t brave enough in the final third. They could and should have scored goals rom their corners. Some of the final balls into the box were easy to defend. Predicatable and too slow going forward at time I thought

We got in a lot of good positions but final ball or final decisions were terrible.

Don`t think we needed the back 3 and Gilmour + Amade on for as long as we did. We had essentially 5 players sitting doing nothing as Ayr were just camped in their own half.

There were no runners from the middle of the park to drag players out of position to leave space open for the wingbacks (at least not until Cooper came on). When Bray came on against St Mirren he was really positive in bringing the ball forward and winning fouls, no idea why Lennon waited until the 89th minute to bring him on.

The game was there to be won against a team that came for a point, we need to be an awful lot better in attack as far too often we overplay the passes or slow the tempo to allow the other team to regroup.

Berry perhaps it’s fine margins but perhaps having those 2 chances fall to better players can be the difference.

We didn’t have an attacking midfielder today and Lenny is playing Tod in behind the strikers which in this formation is a very important role to link it all together but that’s not what Tod does.

Hopefully Allan can be that player, adding legs and physicality in there aswell as helping create would go a long way.

Agreed. He’s a poacher, and thats it. His all round game is well off what we need. Thankfully Lennon seen that today and took him off, but probably 2 minutes too late.

A bit disappointing today the goal was the only slick passage of play, too slow and to much disconnect between the lines and some off the boys were off it, never mind hopefully Lenny gets it sorted and a points better than none

Ayr moved the ball quickly and created space. At times our tackles were into fresh air. Losing a goal from a corner is disappointing. A goalkeeping error. The wsrning signs were there as we failed to pick them up several times giving them free headers. Ayr ran out of steam the last 15 mins, but we didn`t have any punch in the final third. Its a game of probabilities. We didn`t get good balls into the box or shots off when we had the opportunity. The keeper made one good save in the 2nd half. That was it.

We lost because 3 central defender and 3 strikers couldnt defend 1st corner ,free header totally unmarked ,keeper made a good save, 2nd corner keeper palms away from unmarked Ayr player at the back post 3rd corner keeper has gave up on our defenders and decides to come for it , didnt make it , guess what free header for Ayr player goal , should have been 2 for Ayr in the 2nd half , we cannot defend corners snd are rubhish at out own corners .

We were chronic today once we scored. The inability to deal with any ball into either box, especially considering the size of our team, is going to continue to hurt us unless it’s addressed.

A RWB has to be a priority because Kearney just isn’t up to much. Both Tod and Shaw were rubbish up top today as well.

It’s still very early days, but based on the first two games, we’ve looked bang average at best. Plenty of work to do.

This is Andy Tod`s world and we are lucky to live in it.

Honestly, I thought today was promising. Keeper made an error, we weren`t always direct enough and maybe a bit hesitant at times, but there was loads of promise.

Not getting the criticism of Shaw. I thought he had an excellent first half, but admit poor touches let him down a bit in the second half. I think he`ll be our top scorer this season.

Sharing the views about why Keith Bray isn`t getting more game time. He may not yet be ready to start, but is surely worth more than a couple of minutes.

Sam C-H has decent distribution and his John Tod-like run in the first half deserved a goal. I thought two brilliant saves in the game from Harry Stone.

Thought Ayr were dreadful today. Really was two points dropped. Thought we played well
Overall just lacking the final ball. Kearney needs to improve his final ball and also stop playing the safe pass backwards.

I see we have our new scapegoat in Tod, not his best game but doesn’t warrant the criticism he gets on here.

I agree, apart from the three corners, Ayr were rank rotten, although we weren’t much better.

Some absolutely wild takes on this thread as usual.

Keeper was mostly fine apart from the goal.
Kearney was absolutely fine, one of our better performers in the first half and was one of the few outlets when Ayr had their good spell in the second half. It appears he`s the new scapegoat.
Tod waa absolutely fine too, you know what you`re getting from him - endeavour, chaos, and the chance that he scores or creates something out of nothing. He tried a few things that didn`t come off today but at least he tried something.

Overall we controlled the game for long spells, with Ayr time wasting from about the 60th minute mark (not helped by a referee that aided their time wasting antics) and but for a truly outstanding save at the death we`d have come away with a deserved three points.

Only issues for me today was the poor defending at their goal, the lack of any creativity in the final third (they came for a point and even at 1-0 down they were intent on keeping it tight), the way our defenders dived in on a few occasions, and how sloppy we were in possession in the middle part of the second half (even the usually reliable Amade and Gilmour were giving it away constantly).
