Maybe they would, but the only way homelessness and asylum seekers are linked is the horrific actions of the government towards both.
Maybe if we let asylum seekers work whilst claims are being processed they would contribute to the economy? Or we could invest in national infrastructure to house them within local communities, or maybe spend a bit more on processing claims so that`s done more efficiently? We could also set up centres in mainland Europe to avoid them having to take such high risks before making a claim?
Just a few suggestions to avoid having to use hotels as last ditch(which are not nice places to stay long term btw). Not that anyone is interested in solutions. Let`s just get angry at the foreigners

While I can understand the frustration of people coming to the UK via questionable means, I don`t see the need to mention their religion. Is the suggestion that it would be fine if they were Christian, Sikh, Hindu, Buddhist? Just the Muslims we have an issue with.

The hotel in BPs article is 4 star but far from luxury. The star rating relates to facilities, not the luxury. The hotel in the article is over 50 years old.
There is a valid point though. We shouldn`t be using privately owned hotels to essentially imprison people while we sort out processing. Suggestions like daft boats won`t work but surely there are spare government buildings that could be utilised for a lower cost?

I think everyone is agreed on that, same with homelessness. The reason hotels are used at all is due to our failures to deal with national infrastructure investment. Indeed it`s been cut back with land/property being sold off.
It`s politicians being unable to look beyond the next election. I sell my house and start renting my bank balance looks healthier at first glance. But it`s a poor long term decision, and when you keep making short term decisions there`s severe long term consequences.

It`s all part of a big swizz isn`t it? The hotel companies are coining it in from these government contracts, to the tune of about 145 quid per night, per person. They are being paid well over the odds for what it`s costing them. These are shabby, old rooms that would need renovating before they could get them on booking com. The people that stay in these places aren`t living in the lap of luxury, I know someone that volunteers to help some of the people in settling in. They get food, but it`s rubbish quality and insufficient to feed a human properly, we are in no way getting value for money. It`s all a big money making exercise, taking our tax and putting it into private hands

It is perhaps germane to this discussion that it has been the policy of successive uniparty governments for at least the past 25 years that all small boat arrivals must be housed in at least 3-star hotels.
It is hardly surprising many will be housed in 4-star and above.

Filming kids coming out the local school, twice reported to Police who informed that they weren`t doing anything wrong, which may be the case, however it`s still uncomfortable.

I work in Birmingham,Stoke, Bradford and Leeds…let’s just say I am not welcome in certain parts and been abused by the locals. Some streets are strewn with litter and stinking with rats running about…All I assume girls that are going into their teenage years covered up walking about in long dresses/faces covered. It’s a total different situation down there and it’s their Sharia law…Trust me go down there and your eyes will be opened on how this country is going…it will be up here soon!
