Winding itself up to try and spoil the weekend football fixtures. My shoes are still drying out from the last episode of monsoon weather. While not wishing to be a prophet of doom, one eye will be on the weather forecast leading up to the Ayr Utd game.

Security at tonight`s France-Scotland game is being doubled. Lille is only 60 miles from Brussels.

Many nervous people here tonight. I`m sure it will be fine, but even the locals are very nervous coming to the game tonight.

I think it should be fine given that Scots and the French don’t openly accept the burning of the Quran as ok.

Still a worrying thought though that people take offence at fiction novels being burned!

Stay safe DBA

If the amount of rain that is predicted to fall during Thursday and Friday comes to pass then there will be a good chance that the pitch might not be able to handle it…..even if the rain stops Sat morning…there is a pretty good chance that it might be called off. Batten doon the hatches…

What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

We are expected to miss the worst of the storm, just over an inch forecast for tomorrow, less than an inch on Friday and under a half inch of rain Saturday morning. EEP can handle that!

Certainly hope we miss the worst of it . Predicting 2 months worth of rain in 2 days for the red zone ! We`re in the 2nd most severe zone which is bad enough .
Sadly , I`ll be more surprised if the games on , than I would if it were off .

It’s very windy right now in the town, but is it that rainy, really?

I wonder if we’ve just all gone a bit heads gone with weather these days and a bit panicky, the games not for another 30 hours. Let’s just take it easy for a bit and have a look tomorrow morning see where we are.

To be fair, the people of Brechin who’ve been evacuated and have a river through their house might disagree with the sentiment of your post. :/

Where I am in Dunfernline, it’s very windy but not as much rain as expected, and certainly nowhere near what we got before the Arbroath game.

Sad of course, I know people affected by some over here a few years ago, homes wiped out etc.

Not sure if there`s been enough rain to waterlog the pitch. The game couldn`t be played today because of the strength of the wind but it looks like this will calm down a lot by tomorrow.

Scary too think two games could be off due to weather in october, traditionally its usually more the dec-feb period.

I recall the raith cup game in august some years back was called off too,

Roof isn`t affordable or practical really of course, long term is astro or some plan gonna need to be drawn up. Not just for us but many times? Not an easy one.

That Raith game was called off in extreme circumstances though - 3/4 week heatwave of 25-30 degrees all day followed by about 3 weeks worth of rain falling in 30 minutes…

Had the "pleasure" of trying to get blood down from Aberdeen last night. Unbelievable conditions from Stonehaven down to Dundee. The road is so open to the elements. All over the place, with the wind. Genuinely scary. Had to stop in Dundee to recover, with a coffee. Dundee to Edinburgh was a breeze in comparison.
Made it though 😬😊

The wind has caused chaos in Fife over night etc - plenty trees down including the one I had to navigate round in truck on A91!

The rains been steady but not a heavy flow in southern fife from what Ive seen - meanwhile Cupar has a new river running through it from the fields up the top end!

Walked past EEP this morning and the west gate happened to be open. Had a quick look inside and the pitch looks good with no sign of flooding.
I live near the ground and the rain in this area has been no where near what it was when the Arbroath game was called off. Here’s hoping for a relatively quiet night.

There is also a MET office warning for rain, so sounds like multiple sources have heavy overnight rain continuing into tomorrow. The ground may not be flooded but is saturated. I think it will be off, but always hopeful. The groundsman will probably hope it is off too to save the pitch.

So you’d have to consider the Ayr team bus and fans travelling, and also the safety for outside the stadium here with some major roads closed - with the wind conditions.

It hasn’t stopped raining here in town for 24 hrs - I looked out the window earlier and dived back under the covers - but there doesn’t appear to be any major puddles or gardens flooding.

I think from a safety point of view, it would be daft to have people travelling from Ayrshire when the authorities are making statement about not travelling if you can help it.
Would give us another week to get our missing stars back up to fitness as well which is a bonus

I just got back from Asda Halbeath - barely a puddle at the most notorious flood spot in the town on the dual…..theres no weather warnings for Ayrshire or the central belt in place until you reach a yellow warning nearer the bridge…if you cant travel safely in that then shouldnt be driving at all 😂

It`s all very well saying another postponement means one fewer game missed by our long-term injured but, if tomorrow`s game is off, we`ll go into next week`s game against the Rovers having not played for four weeks whilst they will have played two weeks before. I`d prefer tomorrow`s match to go ahead, if only to get the match practice.

That`s because the owners of the retail park did what they were supposed to be doing in the first place and cleaned out the drainage ponds.

It`s horrible for those in areas affected but it is quite possible that the weather conditions can be completely different in the central belt. I`m not sure blanket postponements in areas unaffected is the right thing to do

2 weeks ago pre Arbroath game, during amber warning, there were large puddles each side rendering the road a single carriageway both sides. Today thats not even close to the case. So if they were cleared in last 2 weeks then great, but surely if it was before then, then it shows the rains not been as bad?

Yes Eck my BBC app now saying light rain and gentle breeze. They`ve just changed that from heavy rain and moderate breeze. Might be some reason for optimism.

I see that the BBC have reverted back to heavy rain and a moderate breeze for tomorrow. Can`t seem to make their mind up.

I am looking at the BBC Weather Forecast site now. It has some light rain around about 1 am, clearing until heavy showers at 7 am, light showers at 10 am, then clear skies through the afternoon.

At this point, it is anyone`s guess whether the game will be on.

I`d describe it as incessant but light right now.

What does it look like in town?
Could always move the game to Kincardine, the park is playable here 😁

Wet and light rain just now

I look on to the ground and often use my garden as a measure of how wet it is…

I recently dug out foundations for a patio and garden wall and they are currently full to the brim with water

The weather is certainly easing now, fingers crossed.

All the games called off so far involve North-South travel so it may be about the state of the roads rather than the state of pitches.

Would assume the fact there are amber/red weather warnings is the reason.

From Dunfermline official X:

“Despite the recent bad weather, the pitch at KDM Group East End Park is in good condition.

There are no plans for a pitch inspection, but we will continue to monitor the upcoming forecasts ahead of kick off.”

According to the SFA website the ref is David Munro. Based on previous performances I`d guess he`s from Mars.
