A tad busy today with last minute Christmas shopping so in Arbroath in spirit only (and a big jacket going by the weather!)
I’ll keep an eye on the other championship games today, too.
Team news coming soon.

Dundee have cancelled their game v Aberdeen ten minutes ago. Aberdeen is under snow at this time so the fans set off earlier than normal. Absolutely disgraceful by DFC.

I am like you buspasspar, for so many to get injured you would think it was down to our training methods or warm ups
looks like we need to be looking at this or in the January window we will need 11 new players to make sure we can field a team with the amount picking up injuries

Another absolutely shocking first 45.
Injuries or not, if we`re not competing and looking to be threatening here then what`s the point? Too many games like this.
Get this formation in the phuckin bin. When we do get the ball forward, immediately closed down, goes wide to the WB and then pushed back to the back 3. Utter guff.

Gutted Hamilton off, the only aggresive ball winner we have. Now we have chalmers and Allan in the middle and they couldn’t tackle a fish supper.
Now back to looking down the way and with half a squad fit. Hopefully a player or 2 lined up for coming in the day the window opens.

We are always powderpuff King Lad its nothing new , we usually get bullied all over the park !
Hopefully its a game of two halves and we actually come out and play second half
But if Arbroath have had 8 attempts at Goal 2 on target and 6 corners to our 1 attempt at goal and on target with 2 corners it certainly shows who is on the front foot !!
Certainly hope they get something in their drink at half time also kicking downhill 2nd half so hopefully we can get something out of the game
We seem to be guilty of late at losing a goal about half time , Partick was the same
Why do we always play crap the first half of games too ?? it seems to be a common scene
All teams around us are now starting to kick on and catch us up

I have never slagged off the team at a game in my puff. But the stats were embarasing but got better the further the 2nd half went
We need to start off with a buzz, and maybe the starting line up tells us where the problems are.
Good to get a draw but might not have if there wasnt a sent off.
There is a player or two I think should not be favourites to start.

Never said ye weren’t allowed an opinion.
As for your second point, in a way he doesn’t. He’s looking at the game as a manager, not a supporter. He’s trackside for 90 mins so he sees formations, tactics and game plans which probably change direction in every match. He can see faults, movement and ball watching from his team. Post match he is given stats, replays and opposing angles. I don’t envy him having to weigh up all of that information and give the supporters something to be positive about in a quick interview.

Thought Arbroath were much better than when we played them previously, McIntyre has definitely got them going in the right direction. We struggled a lot, losing Hamilton really lessened our ability to be aggressive.
Bird turned our defence inside out time and time again. Barring their bizarre fight and sending off we were losing that game so you have to be happy with taking the point.
Moffat I thought was our best player, unfortunately we just couldn`t pass well enough to get a sustained spell in the game until we had the man advantage. Take the point and run, two defenders very much needing signed during the January transfer window.

Alternatively we were 3 points clear in the playoff spot. Now 4 and 6 from the bottom battle.
Cheer up and have a great Christmas.
Bah, Humbug.

Badly needed that point today because with McGeady and Logan Chalmers running amok next week we will be lucky to get anything….
Do you ever say anything that isn`t negative mate?
No
Not true. I have predicted that we will stay up…..
What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

Just back and can’t believe Santa gifted us an undeserved point. Awful performance from the get go. We need 2-3 experienced players in January if we are to move forward as a club. Don’t care what the happy clap crew say, the fans deserve a team that will sweat blood and tears.

Very relieved to get the late goal. It was an important one, just to keep the wee gap we have to the teams below. And it means the comments about the game will be a bit less scathing.
But, let`s just call it as it is - that was utter mince from us today, almost from start to finish, and we were lucky to get a point.
I know we had two injuries and of course they make a difference but, regardless of that, I expect better from us. I don`t expect us to win any game but I do expect us to be competitive, be able to do the basics right and look to have some idea what we`re doing when we attack. We failed in every one of those and had we lost it would have been one that hurt, mainly because Arbroath just looked like they wanted to win more than we did. It`s not a criticism you can make of this Pars team very often but it really was an awful, gutless-looking effort of the sort you expect from a team at the bottom of the league.
I`ve come to the conclusion that our usual first half approach of slow and boring is simply to keep us fresh for the second half but today, there was no change in the second half. Even though a goal down, almost all of our play was tediously slow. Really, we had only one serious chance before we scored and that looked a sitter, though hard to say for sure from the far end of the ground.
Without Lewis McCann, we seemed to find it really difficult to show any aggression. McCann is an important player for us in that, but it surely can`t just be about one player.
Not sure what happened with O`too at their goal - looked like he should have been able to deal with the situation, then suddenly he`s been left behind with a huge space to attack. And nice that we equalised from a simple ball in from a corner after all the slow passing failed.
It`s one of those where I don`t think anyone will be very happy. I`m pleased we scored late to get a point but very unhappy with how we played, while Jim McIntyre must have been absolutely raging at full-time to not have won the game. It`s a close-run thing between today and the Ayr game, but I`d say today was (marginally) the worst we`ve played this season.
So, a good point given how we played, but can we please play better than that next week. And I should also add that despite us being poor as a team, Aaron Comrie had a good game. Probably the best game he`s had for a while and really the only one who seemed on his game today.

Not good enough……….Far to many passengers.
Totally outplayed for 75mins. Arbroath were strolling it & the second goal was coming. A moments madness and we’re playing against 10 & the game turns.
Arbroath played a high line and we didn’t spring it once.
Play like that against Ayr/Raith & they will have a field day.

I think McCanns running action is very tight, starting from the shoulders. He will be prone to hamstring injuries in my view. He may benefit from some tips/training with a sprint coach to change is running action, particularly when he is in full flight and stretching out.

That last sentence has got be a joke right? Can’t say I’ve seen a pars team with as much passion for the badge in the last decade, a young team that will fight til the end even when playing pash.
Or are you too blinded by your unfounded opinion that we should be winning every week to understand that players aren’t going to play to their full potential when they’re playing out of position to compensate injuries?
Yes we may need signings to cover these but ffs can hardly say this team doesn’t give its blood, sweat and tears every week. We sit 4th despite all our issues this season but aye we need experience to compete, even though only 4 teams have been able to beat us, 3 of which are above us in the league and only ONCE out of 16 league games have we been beaten by more than 1 goal! In arguably the toughest league in the country. Maybe try praising the squad and management for achieving this position with the injury list growing almost weekly. I’m sure the 6 sides below us would happily swap places!
I’d even suggest that a 90 minute equaliser totally contradicts your statement. But then I’m a happy clapper for not wetting the bed and just being generally happy about where we are right now. Or maybe I’m just realistic. Have a few bevvys and enjoy yer Xmas, pars are 4th and doing more than fine in the circumstances. Nae need to panic.

Very poor today all over the park.
We have a pretty small squad and the loan signings we have made have made an impact but have themselves been plagued by injuries.
Think we need to sign a centre back with a bit experience in January either on loan or 6 month contract until the summer.
Appreciate that the team have been suffering from covid/flu for the past fortnight but it looked like they were keen not to pick up any injuries today and looked well off the pace. Still managed to pick up two saying that.
Cannot remember a match in which we lost as many 50/50 tackles and we really don`t have a settled formation because of the injuries we carry.
I think we have a good balanced team when everyone is fit but unfortunately that has not been the case all season and defensively we have no cover for playing the favoured three at the back without disrupting the midfield or team balance because of injuries to the preferred three either separately or all at once.
I`d be happy with one experienced defender and allow our out of position midfielders to return there.

Yes, very well said Niall, I`m looking forward to a great day out in Ayr next Saturday and 3 points is a distinct possibility. Fourth in the table at this stage is very acceptable. No ground gained today bu no ground lost. I doubt if I would have relished playing in such conditions at Arbroath today and well done to the lads for the point gained.

We were 2nd best all over the park in that 1st half and not a lot better in the 2nd . Take a draw and move on , but please Pars . Start playing at 3 o`clock , not 4 .

Craig Robertson, did he not come from the Rovers? John Watson came from a Hong Kong team, and Ian McCall was signed from Queen`s Park. Perhaps we should be scouring the lower leagues for someone currently scoring for fun.
We`d all be delighted with an Andy Smith; not a lot of style about him, but by God, he knew how to find the net!
Of course, for every budding Andy Smith out there, there are a dozen Kevin O`Haras.

We absolutely and utterly robbed Arbroath of a win.
They had a couple of really good chances in the second half to make it 2 nil.
They had more guile, more positional sense, more passion and guts than we did. We looked lost.
Looking at the image of the goal Wighton seems to place his head where it can be hurt which is good and shows his real striker instinct.
There are some players who need to watch that horror show again over Christmas and have a think about their football.
My thoughts are teams get better confidence by grinding out results, but for some reason we just seem to be getting worse.
The under foot conditions were poor. When Mehmet went to collect a ball, his foot sank into a spongy went piece of turf.

I wasn`t at the game so can`t comment on the performance and these are just random thoughts.
We scored from a corner which has been rare this season; another assist from Chalmers and a goal from Wighton. Their detractors will be pleased!
Playing against 10 men who have something to hold on to is never easy in my experience and scoring a winner or equaliser in added time used to be a cause for celebration.
The fact that all five games in the Championship were drawn this weekend just illustrates how competitive this league is and every point`s a prisoner.
For some the only answer to a setback seems to be to recruit more players but the coaching staff are there to improve players too.
How did Mehmet play after all the predictions of doom after last week? Did he have any chance with the goal?

Good Post Niall,
I missed the first 20 mins odd as I only got back home at right at kick off to find Pars TV weren`t able to stream and after getting the Arbroath TV feed this often dropped or buffered or had terrible resolution for quite a bit of the first half. From what I saw of the rest of the game I thought Arbroath were much improved. They recently also beat Airdrie 4-0. Some credit is due to them for the effort they put in. However, I wonder how the game would have panned out with a different referee who was less tolerant of Arbroath`s physical play. The ref yesterday let them get away with constant pulling back of our players which on a few occasions let them get the better of our defenders by unbalancing them (such as Bird on Otoo ). We are quite a small team and they seemed to bully us quite a bit. It was unfortunate that Hamilton had to go off as I think Otoo is best in a more forward role rather than at the back. However he has a great attitude. I must be the odd one out here because, while delighted to get at least a point which our onslaught at the end of the game deserved, we did have some great chances to score, but once again failed to take them and once again the post came to the rescue of the opposition. We could and maybe even should have come away with three points. The thing that really has impressed me about this lot of players is that they never give up. It obviously helped us enormously that Bird got himself sent off (as he was proving to be a handful and threat), but from that point on I thought we battered them and created enough to win the game (even if that would perhaps have been undeserved over the whole game as I see from the stats they had 8 shouts to our 1 in the first half (and I missed quite a bit if that). If Bird hadn`t got sent off then perhaps Arbroath would have seen out the game and deservedly taken all three points. However, given what happened and our response to them going down to 10 men Arbroath were just hanging on at the end. Sometimes we only really seem to get going in the second half. As ever our achilles heel - lack of composure and poor finishing in front of goal and not having someone in the right place to attack good balls in cost us. We have certainly suffered an incredible number of injuries this season and another two yesterday is not good news.

I`m all for experience but I think you`re taking things a bit far 😉
Our best bet is to take a look at clubs with good performing players but short on cash.
Like has happened with us, I suspect the success of clubs like Raith will mean teams in the Premier will come looking to steal their players. I read they were discussing contracts but a player like Easton would be off to the likes of Dundee or Hibs in a shot if a contract offer came in.

It’s becoming a bit repetitive – poor first halves and injuries. Different players injured this time and we had a poor second half as well. Who had “Hammy and a hammy” on their Pars Injury Bingo Card?
I think Hamilton tends to go with his head where a taller player goes with his boot so incidents are inevitable. Luckily the stretcher wasn’t needed – is there some sort of protocol which means that the stretcher party always has to walk slowly even without a patient to carry?
McCann seemed to be walking fairly freely on his way off; hopefully he’s not too bad, but contact injuries are one thing, it’s a tad concerning when you are getting pulls and tears when there is no-one around.
The Hamilton injury certainly meant the game plan had to be torn up, but we seemed light in attacking options. You can’t blame the conditions – Gayfield seemed much calmer and drier than most of the journey up (and what was going on in Dundee? Christmas shoppers or Dons fans turning round?) I got to my seat just in time for kick-off. At least the ref had the courtesy to restart when he saw I wasn’t quite ready.
I’m not sure where Todd was meant to be playing to begin with. O’Halloran doesn’t seem comfortable with being wing-back, particularly the defensive aspect – he seems to hang back too much for me. Ironically, he was hooked after our best move of the match. It was an interesting call putting Todd there – he was a revelation when Hughes tried him there after Comrie got sent off at Killie and he has barely looked back, but too often he seemed to be in acres of space but we chose to go down the left instead. I think Moffat should score when he hits the post, and Comrie missed another sitter (and he knew it).
I don’t think I’ve ever seen two players from the same team fighting before. Hogg and Levein at Hearts and Batty and Le Saux at Blackburn are the famous examples. I’d looked away and so couldn’t see which Pars player Breen was trying to restrain – then I realised there wasn’t one. The ref bottled it a bit – I think he could have shown at least one straight red.
There were some positives – getting a point, obviously. The lack of celebration when we scored – just the players running back to get on with the game and chase a winner, even that late. Maybe we can threaten more from corners?

I`m guessing it`s part of their training, that they`re told to walk unless someone`s life is in danger. No point in running, falling over and being injured themselves or damaging equipment.

The posts since the game finished on this thread make for quite an odd read. The posts from people who actually saw the game and who have comments to make directly in relation to the game are mainly quite critical, while those that don`t have anything to say about the game are generally critical of people being critical.
We even have the absurd comments, from people who saw nothing of the game, using difficult weather conditions as mitigation for playing poorly. Very strange, when everyone who was at the game knows that conditions were fine with hardly any wind all game.
If you haven`t seen the game, it`s absolutely fair to ask a question as wee eck does about Mehmet (my answer to that is that he was absolutely fine, and dealt well with a first half corner right on top of him that he did well to catch). But why do others need to have a go, with nothing of their own to contribute? I like talking about Pars games afterwards - I like to hear what others who have seen the game think about it and hope that those who haven`t been able to see it might be interested in the views of those who have, to get an idea of what the game was like. But, when I see a thread like this, I do wonder if there`s any point. Why do some people who haven`t seen a game feel entitled to an opinion on it?

Socks I didn`t go yesterday so not once have I commented on the performance. If those who were at the game say we were garbage that`s fair enough. I`m not going to argue.
What I can`t get my head around is those on this forum who refuse point blank to take anything positive from scoring in the 91st minute to rescue a point. When Raith do it they show resilience, fighting spirit, never say die etc. When we do it, we "steal a point", "robbed Arbroath" etc. Anyone know why there are fans of The Pars who are so negative, so dismissive of their own team?
I mean Desparado already has us getting humped the next 2 games! I just don`t understand it!

Those that did go to the game are largely in agreement including our manager that the performance wasn’t good enough and the red from arbroath was a major reason for our ability to get a point. Why are you so raging about that when you can’t even bother to go to the game?
