No Todd or Otto is a bit disappointing. I’m surprised to see Chalmers has been made captain as well. It’s a big game for him today as he needs to prove a point to the Ayr Utd fans. Hopefully he can get one up them.
The bench looks incredibly light again. I’d imagine only Bene and Moffat have a chance of coming on

If they have, I can`t see them being fit to start on Tuesday, based on my own experience - although I grant you Matty and Ewan are a little bit younger and fitter than me!
Edited - I see both players are with the squad at Somerset Park, they looked OK!

Goals are like buses for Jak. He relies on the break of the ball a bit too much for me instead of skill but if he’s putting the ball in the net then who cares.
I’d have taken a point at the start of the game looking at that team but hopefully we’ll go on the chalk up an excellent win

No choice but to accept the point !
But we really should have been well out of sight first half !
With all the injuries we are having this season you couldn`t make it up ,
Let`s hope things aren`t as bad as they look at present
And trust Todorov to get the winner for Airdrie

Any word on what`s up with Etoo or Todd? Hopefully at least one of them back and that a couple of today`s aren`t bad.
Not known anything like it in my 35 years supporting the team.

I don`t know about Toddy, but Ewan Otoo has probably taken a huff and gone on strike because you call him "Etoo", Rusty...

Not a dreadful result considering. We are a little light this year and I`d imagine mcpake would have rather not played bene but we really had no choice.
Although Sutherland looked confident and done well with his header and looks a reasonable prospect line his brother.
We go again Tuesday hopefully the injuries aren`t that bad and get a few back.

If only he was as good as Samuel Eto`o, Oz. We wouldn`t have folk on here clamouring for a top class striker. 😀
As for today, a draw is not a disaster and many of us would probably taken that before the game, but to drop 2 points after being 2 goals up is disappointing. Even more so are the injuries to more key players today.
How long can this bad luck continue?

I know people are saying we are light, but in reality we arent…we had 5 players out pre match that all could walk into the starting line up this season, plus a still crocked captain making up numbers on the bench. Our injury list this season has been extraordinary and needs to be looked at come the end of the season as to why its happened.
We should make 2/3 signings in the eindow just to bolster the squad for if the seasons going to continue like this with injuries. I dont think, if we had a fully fit squad, we would need any (maybe a no1 keeper), but unfortunately I cant see us having a full squad of 22 at any point this year!

Did you now? I seem to remember you jumping down my throat and accusing me of being negative when I said on another post that I thought McGeady and Chalmers would take us apart…seems you were thinking same as me then…… lol
I watched the Rovers v Ayr game and was impressed with Ayr’s never say die attitude with 10 men and feared the worst today, so a point is a positive I feel. Seriously worried about what team we will put on the park on Tuesday now..
What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

You said that last week around 5pm. I looked at our team at 2.50 today with Otoo and Todd missing and thought we were in for a bit of a doing. I posted as such on the other 2 forums and countered it by saying "it`s not like me"
Two completely different viewpoints but thanks for playing anyway 👍

I thought today highlighted both the good and bad from our central midfield.
First half, with us in possession, all 3 were really good whereas 2nd half, when having to be dogged and defend, all 3 were poor.
As a team, first half I thought that was possibly the best we had been this season. The passing and moving was excellent and we looked a real threat.
2nd half, I thought we were really poor, we moved Jakubiak out wide left and he just wasn`t in the game as much.
The second goal was coming all second half and just confess, I thought an Ayr win we was coming.
Last 10 mins, we seemed to get get a hold of the game and the young lad Sutherland looked decent enough.
A good point, especially with all things considered.

I’ll take a point….
FH we were really good. Fast flowing football Summers running the show in midfield & the front two creating several good chances. It really could have been 3-4. However 0-2 is always a dangerous score & losing a soft goal so close th HT was a real blow. SH Ayr changed up a gear & we started to drop out the game.
Came back into it in the last 10 mins & could have stolen it at the end.
That new stand looks nice & a huge improvement. Well done Ayr.

We were dreadful at defending for those two goals. Utter mince and we should have been about 4 goals up before they scored. Story of our season: not taking or chances and gifting soft goals. We should be miles ahead of the rest in 3rd/4th but we have dropped so many points.
Surely we have a centre half ready to sign by 2nd January? If we are going in to that with the same players as today, minus Breen and Bene, we will get utterly skelped.

A bit disappointing not to win from 2-0 up, but it doesn`t feel too bad given the equaliser wasn`t late in the game. It was important that we got something and I was really pleased that we stood up to it when we were put under heavy pressure in the second half.
Good first half from us and it was annoying that we didn`t manage to go 3-0 up with one of those two good chances. Looked a really unlucky slip that made the chance for their first goal much easier than it normally would have been, and frustrating as it was their only meaningful attack in the half.
They seemed to lift it a bit early in the second half and we were forced really deep and couldn`t get into the game at all. The equaliser wasn`t a surprise, but seemed a poor goal to lose from a floaty free kick around the centre circle.
At 2-2, Ayr were the only team that looked like winning but we did well as a team to get through a tough spell. I`m really happy that we showed some strength to do that, as it all seemed to be collapsing around us with more injuries.
McPake was right to take Summers off as he wasn`t any use in that situation. He has ability, but little seems to be coming from it for me he doesn`t do enough for the team. Like Mochrie last year, he needs to realise that he won`t achieve his potential unless he develops some awareness to do the right thing for the team in a given situation. Moffat has similar issues, but was probably a bit better in that regard after the subs.
After managing to tough out a hard 25 minutes, we came back into it towards the end, got ourselves up the park and had a few near things of our own.
Aside from getting a point, the main thing for me is that we were much better than last week. It`s strange in a way, as last week we scored late to get a point while today we lost a 2-goal lead, but today there was no hint of that horrible gutless stuff we got at Arbroath. A draw was probably fair enough and I`m proud of them for getting through such a difficult spell in the game. Was a decent game.

The pihs about us being a good/nice club that wants nice players in that fit into the nice team…. Naw….we need a Martin Hardie type character to come in and get the squad going again.. someone that won’t accept laziness..
I really think Bene is not going to return back and get injured all the time and he is a massive influence in the team.

It doesn’t take Einstein to work out the best teams ever to win our league have experience , first and foremost and a few game winners whether young or older.
Raith have the money just now to attract such players and Utd already had them a few years so we need to bide our time.
We are a mid table club but can get into top 4 but only by going on a 3 or 4 winning streak do I see us achieving that.

I feared the worst when Ayr equalised with plenty time to go. We could have caved in but showed that old fighting spirit and, as others have said, actually created some openings ourselves with a pretty makeshift XI.
On the subject of injuries Hammy, McCann, Otoo and Todd were all in attendance, chatting on the touchline at half-time which made me wonder if they were not as badly injured as feared. Bene did seem to be limping at the end though and I wonder if Breen has some ongoing issue with his hamstrings.

I was referring to the situation after it was 2-2. Ayr had the upper hand and we looked like we were out of gas with few options on the bench.
Why is losing a 2-0 lead necessarily `caving in` anyway? A game lasts 90 minutes and a lot can happen in that time. There was still 81 minutes to go when we went 2-0 up. Can you tell us what we should have done to guarantee a win? Teams surrender 2 goal leads and worse every single week in football without `caving in`.

We need a couple of experienced players that have played in the Championship to guide the young players along. It’s not rocket science but I don’t think the club have the ££££ to bring these players in.

Given the number of injuries we had plus more during the game, it was a really good effort overall, really unfair to say we caved in. 1st half was excellent, we deserved to get in at least 2 goals in front but didn`t manage it. That`s a well as I`ve seen Wighton and Jak play this season and everyone behind them was sharp as well. Second half after a promising start we struggled, McPake didn`t have too many options, maybe Jak should have stayed central as he may have been able to make something of the clearances we had resorted to. The first Ayr goal was unfortunate with Chalmers slipping and the second one was soft, but we didn`t have much height or power left on the pitch so we were always going to struggle defending balls in the air.
Hopefully the injuries/illnesses are not too bad and we can put some kind of team out against Raith.
