Could you explain to us how the recruitment process works at EEP? I`ve heard so many different versions on here I`m confused. The board/Meggle/Cook have all been held responsible rather than the manager who has never actually expressed any frustration at how things are done.

I personally think our targets have been identified and negotiations will be ongoing hence the reason for silence and the lack of urgency. The comments about budget etc and letting the likes of allan go kind of back that up.
I have noticed Logan chalmers hasn`t been announced at thistle I`m hoping we were in for him and maybe there is now some back and forth with agents etc. The GK situation is worrying because we really should`ve had a replacement lined up or else we will be scraping the barrel the longer it goes on.

Communication between the club and fans on stuff like this is very poor. They obviously can`t identify their targets but it would be reassuring for fans to hear, for example, how many signings we are planning, which areas we are trying to reinforce and how negotiations are going.
One thing that annoys me is when we hear that the board are fans too. Well if they`re fans they should appreciate that, at this time of the season, fans are eager to know what`s happening and a lack of information can affect ST sales.

The communication from the club is terrible we now seem to be relying on updates from small supporters meeting groups.
Cook should be providing a season review and then some kind of outlook for the new season.
Folk have talked about the strip and it`s been rumoured to have been stuck in customs see if the club communicated that with the fans folk are then content and would be more patient. That`s just one example

Really, why would people be having a meltdown about us not signing a player we had last year and who had say 3-4 good games where he made an impact last season? Too lightweight for me.
Of all the loans we could realistically hope and want to keep we’ve already done that deal.
Doubt we’ll be able do that much unless we can move on the usual suspects who still have a year left on deal.

I’ve said it all along our scouting seems to be virtually non-existent with our “Chief Scout” now doing multiple jobs within the club along with his personal day to day job at the council. This was so in evidence last season when we clearly brought in players that we hadn’t seen.
For a club with aspirations (I presume the board have aspirations but can’t really be sure) to have our main scout on our own bench every game instead of running the rule over opponents or targets seems very self defeating. The question has to be asked are we actually paying him as a Chief Scout etc? The more you look into it the more it appears to be an old pals act behind the scenes - an old pals act that’s not working!

When was a the last time a scout of ours identified a player and we brought them in? Surely we’re going back to the likes of Petrie and Andy Tod here?
Nowadays the management only bring experienced pro’s they know and young raw loans they likely have never seen play.
We can prob save a part time wage and do without this scout.

It is but the response was to the quote of a `scout of ours identifying a player`. I was just highlighting that in this instance it wasn`t the case and no scout of ours had any involvement. That also shows that having good contacts within the game can be equally helpful as having employed scouts, though.

And shouldn’t be, neither could get games at league 2 clubs during previous loan spells. They need game time to determine if good enough or not.
So I’d say 14, 4 players in gives a strong 18 player pool.

Yep, I would say we have 14 players capable of being solid first team players at this level, supported by a few kids who can fill places on the bench and get some game time if we are short on numbers, in Tod, Sutherland, Young, McLeod. I reckon we need to bring in 5 players, a back up goalie to replace Little, probably a youngster that will need to be ready to step in. A left back to replace Edwards, hopefully Lewis Strapp. An experienced centre back that`s better than what we have, someone like Ashcroft but with a better attitude. A battler in midfield who would be an upgrade on Hamilton, maybe someone like Kerr McInroy. A midfielder who can create, possibly someone like Mochrie or Wotherspoon, preferably the former as he can develop

The whole point about developing young players is that they improve with time. You don`t write them off based on a loan spell at a young age. I remember when Jackie Macnamara first emerged at EEP. He started out as a pretty average winger but flourished when he was switched to right back.

Yep, looks like we have missed out here. Interesting move for him. Wonder if the club have even got to the stage of identifying a left back or if we will start the season with Otoo out there and Chalmers replacing him. Could be another long hard season I feel
"Lewis Strappilla on vankka kokemus Skotlannin sarjoista.

Charlie Telfer was the guy that left the rangers as a highly rated youngster to sign for Dundee United.
United were ordered to pay a couple of hundred thousand `development fee`. I remember there being a lot of back and forth about how much that fee should be, with United wonderfully playing the - `how can they have developed him, they are a new club...` card. 😂

I`m sure I had Charlie Telfer in a Champ Man 97/98 squad. He was good on paper but pretty hopeless. Can`t have been the same guy but maybe his dad?
Charlie King maybe? Was a winger i think, decent on old CM at Livvy. Now a dentist i believe!

Was definitely Telfer, maybe Charles rather than Charlie. I lost my save game but will see if I can find him again. I had a fantastic keeper but I can`t remember his name. I`m sure it was Chic something.

Scott Banks, who we had on loan from Crystal Palace, has signed for St. Pauli.
I wondered what had happened to him…best of luck for the lad.

Perhaps Paul Telfer you’re thinking of?

Nah, he would have been too old. I`m sure he was either a Scotland U21 or a schoolboy. Free transfer job. I`ll load it up and see if I can find him again.

Based on that I`d say it`s between Patrick and Rovers for the title.

You can`t make a judgement based on who a club has signed. You`ve got to consider the players they`ve lost as well.

I didn`t see much to scare me in that list. Most of the permanent signings fall into a category of:
- older ex-Premiership player
- young hopeful from.outwith SPFL
- Championship level player
Not many loans on the list, I only spotted a couple each for Airdrie and Ayr. I suspect a lot of clubs plan on going down that route, hoping to pick up someone on the fringe of a Premiership club`s first team.
