Dire so far. It’s like a pre season friendly with very little urgency from the Pars.

Typical start though…….just so flat…

No width, no creativity and no clue. McPake set the squad up extremely negative and it’s showed. We are useless and looks like we’re bringing on Chalmers to help us get a goal… Definitely looks like McPake’s time is nearing an end. The amount we’ve challenged the opposition goalkeeper this season is shocking. Why don’t we try Sutherland up front with Kane?

Not at the game today but reading posts and BBC website we are dire so I have dodged a bullet there
I honestly think we have the players in our team that should be doing much better than what we get served up week in week out !
Is it tactics and the slow way we play to the front ?
I would hate to be one of our forwards as they have to feed off scraps week in week out because our midfield are too slow in getting the ball up the park , too much tippy tappy stuff across the way and back the way , never forward
We need to get the finger oot !!
We need to get right in their faces and turn this around ! ( miracles can happen )
and we need to actually get the shot ratio up and on target too

Cmon Ye Pars I am getting pi55ed off with the same old crap every week

Forgot to add , as it stands we are the strongest team in the league , we are at the bottom holding everyone up

"It`s not a red as he made a genuine attempt to play the ball. Ref got it spot on."

That`s only for a penalty?

There was another centre half on the cover and the ball wasn`t out his feet so it wasn`t guaranteeing a clear goalscoring opportunity.

We are dung. Could have taken about 6 or 7 of them off at half time.

Keeper static at the goal.
Whole back four looked all at sea.
Clay and Hamilton trying to dictate play when they can`t pass the ball or progress it forward.
McCann and Wotherspoon awful.
Todd trying to go it by himself but nowhere near fit (haven`t they learned about the dangers of rushing people back so quick?)
Kane isolated up top but when he goes get the ball ot bounces off him and goes 20 yards away.

Passing has been woeful - either the wrong pace or the wrong option taken. Positionally we have been all over the place and that was before the change of shape at the break. The pressingnand energy from the Raith game isn`t there, the fight isn`t there, the quality isn`t there. Going back to the bottom of the league as it stands.

Was a lovely goal. Not sure why we waited until we were 2 goals down to think about getting forward though. We`ve looked like we could create if we get forward, so it`s baffling and frustrating that we didn`t start on the front foot in a winnable home game.

QP we`re the better side. They were much more ambitious going forward with better movement off the ball. I think we had one attempt in the first half that wasn`t on target. QP deserved their first hal lead. QP came out in the 2nd half as if they were the team a goal down. No surprise really when they went 2 up. We never looked positive going forward, stray passes and too many sideways or backwards passes, I thought. You can`t wait for 70 minutes to start to put the opposition under pressure especially when two goals down. Alot of effort but we lack invention and cutting edge.

They practice defending and keep ball during the week.

Look at who our attacking players are, someone who has never produced at this level and someone who hasn’t got the legs for this level anymore. Cooper looks like a possible rare success story but of course will be benched as not defensive enough.

It was pretty grim but we should still have got something from the game once we went for it. Strong claims for a penalty when a hand blocked a shot heading for goal.

Two of the subs made a huge difference and changed the dynamics and led to our goal.

Defending was poor at the corners but whose fault is that?

Very frustrating with an awful first half.

Dont see McPake going anywhere. Some players need a good dose of confidence.

Mehmet is a big part in the reason we lose so many goals from set pieces. Also with 2 ex defenders in the management team we should be drilled better at them. Aside from that we are absolutely awful to watch, we show no attacking intent unless we are chasing the game with 15 minutes to go. I`m not sure anyone got pass marks today. Maybe Comrie, Cooper and Joe chalmers did OK when he came on. At least he tried to play a bit of football, the rest was just hoof ball up to Mcann and Kane who has become very soft when holding the ball up. Always falls over looking for a free kick when there is the slightest touch.

Mehmet does not command his box. Static on the goal line for corners. Has us playing from the back. Palms the ball into dangerous positions.

Tobi gets us up the park on the front foot. The contrast is clear for everyone to see.

I felt u easy on seeing Mehmet starting, and yet until about the 70th minute I felt he had been out best player.

Not one player beat a man, drove at pace, foneted a pass, won a 50/50 until that moment at 2 nil down where we had the penalty shout..couldn`t tell you it all happened so fast.

After that we played well, and perhaps we`re unlucky not to score again.

Having said that, I`ve no argument with the result, good for the final 20 mins ai t enough.

Frustratingly, I felt we offered more interest hat 20 mi s than queens park in the first 70. Outside the two goals they only had I think 2-3 other chances. They passed and moved well and made us look amateur by comparison, but I can`t help but think if we started the game like the way we finished it, we would have won it..so frustrating

We did not play well last 20mins. We were on the front foot granted, but only because a very, very average team were gifted two goals and decided to shut up shop against a team that has no idea how to break a team down.

We were , utterly, utterly dreadful from the first minute to the last, complete garbage.

Kane…a donkey. Wighton….a donkey. KRH….yeah great ball rolls mate but nothing else. Mcann. I will save my breath. We have no one in the team that is capable of beating a man or making a decisive defence splitting pass, unless you count Wetherspoons defence splitting pass…….to QP.

It’s beyond a joke, beyond embarrassing .

I am actually beginning to thing that this is the most useless, pathetic team I have ever seen at EEP and that’s saying something.

But, we will still have the eternal optimists telling us that we are on the right track , just give it time, we are only seven games in etc , etc.

It’s absolute crap just now.

If we don’t win next week……he has to go, no ifs, no buts………gone !

I think we need to set our stall out to win games. I don`t know if it`s me but sometimes i think we give the opposition too much respect. When we pressured the QP defence they made mistakes or panicked. We didn`t do that until the last 20 minutes of the game when in reality the game was over. That suggests to me that it is more about having an attacking mindset. We have become too negative with one touch too many, not looking up or looking forward for an early pass. That was the difference in the teams. QP had more vision moving the ball, got into spaces, passed the ball quickly and always looked to move the ball forward.

I felt heads went down when we lost the first goal and we only tried to score when we lost the second goal.

Some self-belief needs to be instilled in the players, and we need to play at a level where the opposition worries about us, not the other way around. If you pressure the opposition, they think twice about opening up and coming forward. It`s as much physiology as anything else. Positive mental attitude.

I also don't understand why we don't go through the middle more and run at the central defence. Kane holding the ball with his back to goal isn't working and is too predicable in my view.

Think Mehmet slows the pace, doesn’t command his area and thereby puts pressure on his defence. We play much deeper when he is in goal.

You can hardly blame Mehmet for the lack of an attacking threat. Oh, I forgot, this is .net - it`s easier to blame one player for all the team`s faults.

One (of many) thing that puzzled me was replacing Young with KRH about 5 minutes into the second half and moving Otoo (who was clearly struggling with an injury) to LCB. Mind you Otoo with an injury was still more effective than a lot of his team-mates.

Indiapar…..it’s the managers job to set our stall out. He fails miserably to do so most games.

Making three subs at HT is an admission of failure. We were only 0-1 down but it was probably to do with the fact that we never laid a glove on them in the first 45……we very rarely do tbh.

Against Ayr it took a great strike from Otoo, and against Raith it took a massive deflection……we don’t not look like scoring in any frigging game we play.

There is no more to say. If we lose next week he has to go.

I honestly believe that Chris Hamilton could pick the team and tactics next week and we could have nobody at all in the dug out and we would perform better…..

What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

Young was injured too. We noticed before ht he was struggling. Must have been giving it 5 to see if he could run it off.

In his post-match interview McPake said he subbed KRH for Young to bring on another attacking player, nothing to do with injury apparently. Why not do it at half-time?

Not the case parsfan97. He could have changed all five at half time if he wanted. To be fair there were about 6 or 7 we could have replaced. It was almost like he saw the back three then suddenly remembered that there wasn`t a left footed centre back in the three!

Desperado

Yes I agree. You have to set yourself up to go out and try and win the game and score goals. That`s the point of the game after all. It`s not to not lose the game. We are too defensive such tgat when we need to score goals, we don`t have the tools in the locker to do it, including having the confidence that we can. It doesn`t matter how many goals you lose as long as you score one more than the opposition. The defensive approach isn`t working so may as well go out and play attacking football and build confidence. It`s one thing to lose a game when you are playing defensive football for 90 minutes, it`s another to lose a game whilst trying to win it by playing attacking football. At least you would get the fans behind you. Today it was very flat I thought with an air of inevitability coming from the home support.

My blinkered view is that the guy is absolutely garbage and probably one of the worst if not thee worst players ever to wear the arm band.

It’s time to stop pussy footing around and start calling a spade a spade. We have a team full of lazy players , of average ability coached by imposters.

I beg to differ. He is lazy, one paced and could not tackle a fish supper. He plays about one decent forward pass every game ….. and that’s it. The rest is just backwards or sideways. As long as he is involved in our team we will struggle.

Compare him to the likes of Broen or Stanton at Rovers…… that’s our problem, lazy and complete useless…. Sorry I have had enough of these imposters wearing our shirt….no passion no desire ….. nothing and the sooner they f*** off the better…ok he has nice hair….. and that’s about it…

It`s hard to understand how anyone could accuse Chalmers of being lazy. He certainly has his faults but he hardly stops running and is always making himself available for the ball. I would say he was one of the reasons we improved in the second half. He was much more effective than Hammy was in the first half.

McCann`s another one who is often accused of being lazy but he is a willing runner, admittedly sometimes to no effect, but he doesn`t hide.

Really? I can’t remember ever seeing Chalmers running. He is in perpetual jog mode.

It’s ok guys, paper over the cracks all you want but as long as these players are pulling a jersey on we are destined to be at or near the bottom, and as long as we have these lazy…yes LAZY players then we are in serious trouble..I do t think Chalmers even broke sweat today when he came on……….Captain? I think we did improve when Chalmers came on and that in itself is worrying - I know he’s popular but Hamilton for me is an issue - he’s a bombscare with the ball at his feet and offers nothing going forward. I’d play Wotherspoon in the role Chalmers played second half - Otto needs to be in midfield, Cooper needs to start and we desperately need the keeper back.

Hamilton has gone backwards since last year. Him being a pars fan should have showed more interest but was just as lackluster as the rest.

Chalmers did okay when he came on but the bar wasn`t high compared to the first half. That being said at least he showed for the ball and made forward passes both of which were missing from the 10 outfield players in the first half.

It`s dumbfounding we harp on about bringing up youth and we have a perfectly confident goal scorer that was left on the bench when we needed a goal.

There was no excuse for yesterday`s performance and it showed that we are one of the worst teams in this league. Our inability to make changes until things go wrong although it`s clear to see where the danger is shows our management team are clueless and can`t see what everyone else sees.

The problem we are faced with is if mcpake gets a chance to offer more of these guys who can`t compete at this level and extended deals. Whoever gets the job when mcpake goes has to clear out the squad and start from fresh. We have decent young players with the right players around them who can probably hold their own in this league. Unfortunately at the moment we are miles off it and next week is now really a huge game even this early on and at the moment I can`t see anything that shows me we will get a result there next week.

c'mon the pars

As said when chalmers comes on and looks decent that’s when you know the standard of our play has really dropped.

Just watched the two goals we conceded.

For the first, Sam Young loses his man who scores with a simple header. However, Mehmet is rooted to his line behind McCann and Rudden. No effort to extricate himself from a simple block, part of which is caused by Lewis.

For the second, the guy heads it in from three yards in the middle of the goal.

Both goals will absolutely infuriate the coaching staff when reviewed on Monday. It’s basic stuff. In fact, it’s very basic stuff

A side from the goals, especially first half queens had so much time on the ball in our half to pass it around without any sort of challenge and when we did win the ball we had no urgency to get forward. We played it like a friendly.

Mehmet not at fault for either goal, but he`ll still be a scapegoat for some.

The defending was horrendously bad at both. Young outsmarted at the first, and the second there were about 3 players who lost their man. Schoolboy defending.

Wighton and KRH made a difference when they came on, I`d be starting both next week.

I did actually as a young man and the highlight of my career was a game for Fife U 18’s many moons ago before I sustained an injury. Not that it’s relevant now as it was so long ago. I would hazard a guess that most posters here have not played at a decent level either. We are all entitled to our opinion. I will give mine. Some may agree with me, many won’t. That’s life. But that performance yesterday was frankly abysmal…you don’t need to have played football at any level to see that.

The highights confirm what we all thought at the time – two terrible goals to lose, then our usual inability to create or take enough chances.

First the team – a couple of changes, no sign of Ngwenya and KRH was dropped (not unreasonably IMO) so Otoo at LB and Clay getting a start, Tobi wasn’t there either, so the opportunity to see him troubling the opposition keeper from 80 yards late in the game as we inevitably chased an equaliser was denied.

I thought McPake had settled on 4-2-3-1 as his favoured set-up but he performed radical (and brave) surgery at HT – 3 changes and then a 4th almost immediately after, which was odd. I argued that Hamilton’s booking last week eventually led to us losing; perhaps that was a factor, and Wotherspoon was also on a yellow and had played an appalling pass straight to an opposition player which led to Hamilton’s caution, and Todd hadn’t done much (but then who had?), but even so it was a surprise.

I can’t see anything in the laws of the game restricting the number of substitutes that can be made at any one time – surely if there were, you would just make the extra one 30 seconds later and it would just waste everyone’s time. In any event, did we not make a quadruple sub at Arbroath in the year of Y**i?

What the formation was thereafter was hard to tell – it seemed a lopsided 5-3-2 with KRH almost at LB and Comrie almost at Inside Right, neither in their best position, but KRH actually played better than of late. Cooper seemed to have the advanced central role until he dropped back to accommodate Wighton.

I spied Callum Davidson at the Rovers game – no doubt he had given some thought about how to play us and it seemed to work – we barely threatened in the first half – a pulled McCann shot and a snap-chance that McCann header wide. Then once he got 2 goals ahead they could afford to sit back and challenge us to score twice – it’s been a long time since I fancied our chances of us pulling back a 2-goal deficit and so it proved, although we had opportunities – a bit more alertness or anticipation and we could have done so.

I didn’t think QP were anything special, but they seemed to play with more urgency and more purpose when required, whereas we regressed to our more pedestrian style, with Kane looking too isolated for my liking – I’d guess other teams are finding it easy to play against us.

Maybe the players are getting mixed messages – perhaps we play better when the objective is clear. We are certainly not being outclassed, but 4 points so far is slim pickings; sometimes all it needs is a small change or a break, but the evidence against McPake’s tenure is stacking up. And what’s with the booing of players before we start?
