Andy Irving is an interesting one - I`ll be honest I`d never heard of him, but he`s had an interesting career path. Good on him.

I`d love to see some alternatives to Ralston and Hanley at the back, but knowing Steve Clark it will just be the status quo 😔

He`s brought in Devlin and Lindsay. It`s unlikely they will go straight into the starting XI but at least he`s giving them a chance.

Quite possibly the weakest Scotland squad that I have seen for a number of years

Id agree its pretty weak from pre euros squads. A lot of injuries hampering that though this time round.

In fairness we have been punching above our weight in terms of getting the most out of the plyers we have.

The u21s squad is a shambles and has been for a while so it`s hard to judge the potential of the players we have coming through to take over the players who at the world cup (if we get there ) will be playing their swan song tournament.

c'mon the pars

To be fair the under 21s are second in their qualifying section behind Spain after 8 games. We are above Belgium and Hungary having beaten both in the last year.We lost 2-1 to Spain(Mebude`s brother scored),so it can`t all be doom and gloom?

Weird that folk are annoyed we`re struggling in the top section. This was always going to be the case. Wales got found out. England got relegated.

Again though we have drawn a fairly favourable group. But injuries and daft decisions have cost us so far I fear. I also feel that Clarkes time was up after the Euros, despite all the good he has done for the national side, he should have gone after that dismal showing.

Cant see much hope over these 2 games with the squad and replacements named. Just one of those things I guess and if we do pick up points will be a great result.

The Euros performance has scunnered people. Not so much the nations league. Clarke should have left after we flew home from Germany.

Under 21s have been poor for years they haven`t qualified for a major tournament since 1996 and these are played every 2 years.

Since 2006, Scotland have not progressed past the elite qualification round of the European under-19 tournaments.

Hardly successful at youth level.

If they had qualified for tournaments I`d love to talk about it. But the facts are fact they don`t qualify for tournaments and the u21s play a terrible style of football.

Probably in our interest to lose these two games now anyway, secure relegation improving the odds a little bit of qualifying via this avenue in the next campaign.

Finishing bottom of the group makes us a pot 3 team for the World Cup draw, finish 3rd and we stay a pot 2 team…..so both games are worth winning.

He’s not good enough just now, but could benefit from the experience of being involved in the training etc ?

I’ve nothing against him being called up, another that will hopefully be groomed for the future.

Must admit, I’m going tonight but really can’t be arsed 😂😂

Do fans really expect players who haven`t been called up previously to walk into the team? Joining the squad is obviously a stepping stone to allow players to experience training, preparation, match day, etc. Some players have waited ages before actually getting on the pitch!

Kazakhstan 3 - 2 Scotland

Spain 1 - 0 Scotland

Scotland 3 - 1 Hungary

Scotland 2 - 1 Malta

Belgium 0 - 2 Scotland

Hungary 0 - 0 Scotland

Scotland 4 - 1 Kazakhstan

Turkey 2 - 1 Scotland

Looking through the results, I don’t know what you’re expecting?

The gulf in player depth against the top nations will always be exaggerated because we’ve got a much smaller number of players to choose from. Wasn’t Kyle MacDonald picked for the U21’s while playing for the pars? Boy was sitting on the bench against the likes of Alloa 🤷🏻‍♂️

I think that thing where the English over estimate their own players happens up here as well more and more often.

I also think it’s easy to underestimate how much of a step up international football compared to the Scottish Premier.

I mean it’s only a front 3 of Ronaldo plus some lad from Liverpool and a farmer from Juventus they’re playing against eh!
Funnily enough Ronaldo’s probably the weakest of the 3 at this point in time
