That selection is wild. Probably four or five players who would be looking at that and saying to themselves "how am I not playing tonight?"
Suspect he`s planning on getting to 60 odd minutes goalless and then brinking on Ritchie-Hosler, Cooper and Todd to try and get going late on? Might work, if we`re not 2 nil down by then.

KRH barely touched the ball in the first half. He had 2 good moments where he took on the fullback.. then got hooked. Wrong time to hook him but he was a total passenger until that point.
On tonightâs team, heâs lost the plot. Clay and Hamilton in midfield ahead of Otoo is an absolute disgrace, fogarty being frozen out is bizarre & I donât think tonight is a game for Wotherspoon.. Livingston midfielders work very hard & he wonât get time on the ball. Hope Iâm wrong..

Good finish with the second effort. Wonder if the ball moved in the air from the first shot as otherwise I`d have been looking for the keeper to do better with it. Promising start though, on the front foot for once.

If you think KRH was our best player on Saturday you must have been watching a rerun of a game from league 1.
As for otto he just charges about aimlessly.
What a difference so far having 11 players, 2 not hiding (krh and Todd) and the others holding their shape. We might have resembled a team for the 1st time this season.

It was a pretty pleasing first half. We looked reasonably assured as a team. There was persistent forward movement and several chances. Livi had a couple of opportunities they should have put away, so there`s no room for complacency. We need a second goal to make things more comfortable. And the best thing is that we have a solid bench to come on if and when required.

Would awfy like us to take more of our chances and try and put this game beyond Livi , As our play tonight deserves more goals , get more Goals and we dictate the play and could probably get more on the break !
Because we all know As the Game goes on we will sit deeper and deeper and invite them in ! Do not want to see us drop deeper for the 1-0 , we have been there too many times

Perfect opportunity to get Sutherland on in his actual position for a bit. Nah, let`s bring on Wighton instead. So much for bringing through the youngsters. No point in being here, he`d be better off at Kelty or something on loan.
Anyway other than that, solid performance tonight. Ankot kf fans, myself included, have been crying out for a more front foot performance and we got it tonight. Never gave Livi the chance to get settled, capitalised on mistakes, got forward quicker and pressed sensibly. Just need to be doing that more often and not going back into our shell. I know Wilson is missing but Livingston hadn`t lost a game this season and kept Falkirk to 0-0 recently so if we can do it against them then we can do it against anyone.

There are no teams better than anyone else in this league. We have a good squad of players and can do well if we can be clinical in front of goal.
We were the better team all over the park. No reason why we can`t do that every week.

So it`s clear for all to see , that we absolutely have a team and a manager who can compete at this level, but it has to be asked, where on earth has this performance been hiding. If we give it a go there`s a very good chance we`ll see more results like this. So please mcpake, try winning games more often than not and you`ll get the players in the right frame of mind at start of matches, not when we`re 2 down!!

Well that was pleasing , solid performances all round but Kane was excellent. I commented to my mates at one corner that we had 8 men in the Livi box- just shows what can happen if you approach the game more positively. We had a high press and indeed even closed down Livi from about 10metres into their own half. Well played Pars.

Liking Mebude until he tired. And what a player Sam Young is turning into. Outstanding all over the pitch tonight.

Very good performance tonight. Thoroughly deserved that win. Livi were awful, but part of that was due to our tactics of pressing their defenders.

Best performance of the season by far tonight. The line came as a bit of a surprise but credit to the manager tonight as he would have been under massive pressure had we lost tonight. It just goes to show that we have a team definitely capable of avoiding relegation when fully fit and we should take great confidence and belief from tonight after easily defeating the only unbeaten team in the league. I cannot believe how easy it was for us tonight. Apart from a scare in the first 5 minutes Livi hardly threatened. Our front three were excellent tonight
Itâs amazing what happens when we play players in the correct positions and have a go!

I only caught the second half. Thought it was a good performance from the players, managed the game well took the chances and done the business at the back. Iâm not sure how long Bene has left but when heâs on it like that heâs a massive player for us.
Didnt see a change in phases of play or our set up other than the intensity of the performance so although it looks a terrific result itâs nothing to get ahead of ourselves with, especially when we played similar against Raith and havenât done since until tonight.
I donât think livi showed anything of note at all which is expected as we know how tight the league is. Makes you think if we had an intense attacking minded outlook from the bench every week where that squad would be.

Well, that was a huge and pleasant surprise.
I`ve never believed we are as bad as some others despite our position. I thought we were capable of climbing away from danger, but I didn`t expect to beat most folks` title favourites so convincingly. I figured we were due a win, but my optimism only stretched to a 1-0 win in the PL.
Hopefully, that will give a huge confidence boost and lead to similar performances.
McPake will get his best night`s sleep in ages tonight.

I wasn`t going to go to the match tonight, had a feeling I`d get there and would regret it. When I seen the team sheet though, I liked the look of it, thought it was a line up that was set up to attack. so made a last minute decision to go. I`m pleased I did.
Can`t question the desire and commitment of the players. Everyone worked their socks off. Every player had a good game, I thought Clay really held everything together. I was watching him and he was constantly talking to people telling them where they should be, that`s what we have been needing. Kane was fantastic, never gave their defence a minutes peace. Hopefully they can kick on from this

Good performance, what a difference when we play on the front foot and turn up in the first half.
Once again the difference the first goal makes in this league, thought Tobi did well with quite a few crosses thrown in the second half, Mebude with some pace in the team ,and getting the ball forward quicker ,what a change in attitude.

Glad I made a last minute decision to go tonight! Great performance from the lads which only begs the question as to why we donât do that more often!
We forced Livi into so many bad positions because of their persistence to play out from the back. One of which was a stone wall penalty and a shocking decision from the ref to give a free kick instead!
The key thing now is to do the same on Saturday - McPake might just be the Messiah yet đ«ą

Great performance tonight, livi offered nothing but I put that down to our press which never gave them an inch. A number of players had thier best game this season so far, back 4 never put a foot wrong all night, shame bene didnât start last sat as was a rock tonight.
Mebude looks an interesting player, has the ability to beat a man easily but then kept trying to do too much instead of play the pass when in a good position but positive signs given he wonât be fully fit or match sharp yet.
Workrate was spot on tonight, was even surprised by how much running wotherspoon put in and some great deliveries for the goals. It was definately a more positive performance in terms of attacking intent too mixed with manageing the game at the right points.
Just a good all round performance and some shift put in. Hopefully we can back it up with another win on sat.

I wouldn`t try and claim I saw that performance coming, but there have been definite signs in recent weeks that performances had been improving, albeit slowly. Like several other posters on this thread, I had some misgivings when I saw the starting XI - I even joked with a few pals that the bench looked stronger, and they agreed.
A strong bench may have contributed to our excellent performance as the players who started would know they`d be liable to be hooked early if they weren`t working hard enough, and boy, did they work hard. đ There were no failures in that team, and they made a mockery of the league table. đ€ we can take this into Saturday`s game......

Great performance last night, long overdue. Was a controversial team selection but it did work. What a difference when we play from the start and press the opposition until they kick it back to us. No failures last night and Kane & Bene outstanding. Young plays as if he is 28, not 18 and some great crosses from Wotherspoon.
Need to take that into the next game but that will have raised the confidence levels quite a bit.

Five at the back is almost a myth now. I can`t remember when we last played with three CBs. The main difference last night was that we converted a few chances. McPake`s post-match interview is actually a very good summation of how things have been improving over the last few weeks. We should have the good grace to give the guy some credit.

We`ve talked about Todd, Otoo, KRH etc as having potential but Sam Young has slotted right in and looks totally effortless. Young lad has incredible assurance for his age and just looks like he`s been playing there for years. Interesting to see how he bounces back from a bit of adversity when it comes but isn`t it wonderful to see?
Also, last night was a textbook illustration of how playing one up front versus two up front is a distraction of a debate compared to the real issue of how you press, how you vary things, your attitude etc.

The fans have been incredibly patient with James McPake . I don`t think any of our fans want to see him " fail " .
Last night , we came out of the traps , closed down the opposition, and got the ball forward and into the box much quicker than we have in the vast majority of games this or last season .
Many , many fans have been calling for us to get on the front foot . Last night, we did that .
Why has it taken so long to actually have a go at it ?
Hopefully, we will do the same on Saturday , and can start to climb the league . If we do , I`m sure JM will start to win back a lot of the support he undoubtedly lost , myself included . COYP !

A lot of things just seemed to come together at the same time
A higher and more consistant press than we have seen very often.
Variation of play from playing out to going long
Variation of free kick and corners - twice in a row, everyone expected the free kick long into the box, but was played wide left, corner taken short, then the next to back post
(WHAT A DIFFERENCE when a corner actually goes over the first defender - annoys the hell out of me when a corner is easily cleared by the first guy)

I missed the game last night. Can anyone tell me if Oluwayemi made any difference to the performance?
I feel every time he has played he has improved the team by getting us to play further up the Park. He played against Ayr, East Fife, Raith and Falkirk and we were much improved in all these games.
I think the defence has much more confidence in him.

Never had many saves to make but dealt with everything he needed too. One major difference between the 2 is his movement off the line when the ball comes over the top. Dealt with a few of these last night that Memhet wouldnât have came out for. Definitely takes pressure off the defenders a bit.
No doubt with his experience and his confidence to come out that over the course of the season he might have 1 or 2 mistakes in him but what player doesnât!
Definitely improves us.

He certainly exudes confidence which helps the team but, like any keeper, he can make misjudgements. I thought he was partly responsible for Falkirk`s second goal on Saturday by deciding to play the ball short to Hammy and then parrying the subsequent shot back into the box. The recent improvement in performances isn`t down to one player but he has helped.

What a difference, starting aggressively and on the front foot from the first whistle like the Raith game.
Won`t see Livvy lose one goal, let alone two, very often from setpieces so much credit due there as well.

I`m reading a comment from Parsweep, further up the thread where he, and many others before him, blames the manager for the team not going all out attack from the start, as if Jas. McPake had told them to play safe for the first half hour. I very much doubt that`s the way it works. Even if you did have the aim to be on the attack from the off, you can only perform as the opposition allows. I`m sure the manager would be delighted if his team was able to dominate the opposition for 90 minutes but that rarely happens. Usually success is down to opposition mistakes, moments of brilliance, and the ability to know when to go all out attack. The players have much more control of the performance than the manager and I very much doubt that James McPake has set the team out to play dull football.

I`ll hold my hands up and say I wasn`t convinced by the starting line up, but was pleased to see Mebude starting as he looks like a box of tricks who can do something unexpected. I hope he`s allowed to keep running 1 on 1 at fullbacks.
The high press was great to see. It looked like we played 4-2-3-1 but when Livi were trying to play out from the back it was more like 4-2-4. Will be interesting to see against a team that goes longer.

I can understand the one year deal as there was obvious uncertainty after the bad crash and how he would recover.I suppose we can`t over commit with a takeover looming and whilst in a precarious position too so it`s a tricky one. It`s possible he only wanted a year too.
Hopefully he continues to improve and does the business for us in the short term anyway.

I don`t subscribe to the idea of players being better than others. At this level, the players we have in the squad are all good enough. It`s not necessarily the best players who make the best team. I would use the analogy of car parts. You can take the best parts of a vehicle and put them together. You would struggle to get a car that works. It`s about the best players to pick to achieve your aims on the day.
Looking around the squad, given the challenges we have had, I think we have a really good balance with the quality we need to do well in this league. You cannot control outcomes as a manager. All you can do is create the environment to set yourself up to give you the best opportunity. For me the signs are good, improving performances, good squad of players, and starting to score goals. The first quarter of the season has gone and not worth worrying about. It`s the next quarter that matters and we are in a much better place

I too was a bit puzzled by the team selection â I did wonder if McPake had been following the Two Ronnies school of picking the team based on the performance before last, but I am led to believe that the 4 players dropped (KRH, Todd, Wighton and Otoo) had not played well on Saturday. So it was perhaps a brave decision by McPake and he deserves credit. (Also if he chose to allow Kane more time to recover.)
I thought Dapo made a big difference â he seems quite nippy and this encouraged us to get the ball forward; we were also helped by Liviâs insistence on faffing around with short bye kicks and not defending terribly well â I would have been a bit miffed to concede some of the goals (although Wotherspoonâs dead-ball deliveries were excellent). The other difference was we got some breaks (including the early goal) which I think have been overdue.
Itâs only one result, but itâs a good one and may raise the odd eyebrow. Itâs maybe too early to worry about other teams but Airdrie and Morton losing is not unhelpful.

Barring a few exceptions, the first halves of home games with the current manager have been awful. That`s no coincidence.

So what happened to make him change his approach? I think he has been as frustrated as the way we have started some games as everyone else.

I guess that would be a question to ask James McPake......
But it was good to see him make that change and take a little more risk and to trust his players to show him what they can be capable of in the match situation

It could be a number of things wee eck.
Possibly McPake is getting more desperate. Possibly he hasn`t made himself clear or the players are slow on the uptake.
I suspect it`s more a combination of personnel
(Tobi gets us further up the park; Clay is yet to succumb to the sideways passing philosophy and Dapo gave them another option),
and Livi letting us.

Absolutely mccaig, at the start of the season the plan was defo to stay at 0-0 and try and nick one of the break, guessing that was as mcpake thought his squad wasnât good enough as it was to have a go.
Then the purse strings were loosened and more players were brought in, itâs taken a fair few games to finally see a change of mindset and set up, first time I think mcpake has been brave in this league. Rovers game was a decent start but the sending off made all the difference and of course it was a false dawn.
Livi didnât have an answer to how we played and didnât mix it up to try and create more space. Morton will be a completely different challenge on sat and not nearly an easier one.

I think we`ve improved as the size and quality of the squad has improved and the manager has had more options. I can`t help wondering where we might have been if the purse-strings had been loosened earlier. The displays against Forfar and Cove were inexplicable though.

Really really good, unexpected win. Let`s just hope that`s some momentum now and we don`t revert back to type on saturday

Wighton does show flashes of quality, some nice passes or flicks but isn`t suited to playing as a lone striker, nor is he a great combination with Kane - neither run in behind. Although he did quite well against Morton, it is quite hard to see how he has got ahead of Sutherland (or indeed Cooper).
Ideally with his engine, Matty Todd would play as a number 8, I don`t think he has the range of passing or the dribbling to play as a 10. He`d be more effective there though than as a left winger, one cross against Kelty apart, he has offered very little.

Flew in on the red eye from Atlanta Monday night.... worked all day Tuesday in Dundee, decided to power on through and go to the game.
We agreed that if it got to 3-0 we`d leave early and wish Livvy well in the pursuit of F*lkirk
I dont think we`d considered it might get to 3-0 Pars LOL
Great performance - Im happy to attend more games as a good luck omen if everyone wants to chip in for the flights :-) hahaha
Just as a caution tho.... I did once go 8 full calendar years without seeing us win in person so I might not be the lucky charm I think I am.
