Massive game tonight, more hope than expectation though.
Livi pushing for 3 pts to close the gap to Falkirk while we are obviously desperate for points ourself to close the gap on Hamilton.
Team wise tonight it looks like Young and Boothe will be absent from the starting lineup on Saturday. How does Lennon tweak things for tonight?
Does Chalmers move to midfield and Fogarty LCB?
Does Chalmers stay LCB and Clay come into the midfield.
Possibly Otoo into midfield and Raymond LWB (my preferred option)
Top end of the pitch it’ll be either McCann, Kane and Stevens or perhaps a front 2 of Kane and McCann.
Team news will be interesting.
Hopefully we can get a result as our home form is better than away.

Bene should be dropped for Fogarty and Otoo returns to the midfield with Raymond or Ngenwya at left back. Cooper is always a good player to bring on for the last 30 so id imagine Kane will be upfront with McCann and Stevens wide. I pray Yeboah is nowhere near the team.

I`d quite like to see a lineup like;
Oluwayemi
Comrie Fogarty JCM Raymond
Cooper Chalmers Otoo
Stevens Kane Hampson
Benedictus has been poor for a while imo and Fogarty when he has played has been the best central defender in the team outside of JCM.
McCann out of necessity has been playing on the left, but I`d like to get a look out of Hampson who I think can play any of the attacking midfield positions. Yeboah hasn`t shown anything for me either.
Midfield is a bit of a mess as we all know, but Chalmers is probably our best passer/orchestrator? Add in Otoo and Cooper for their energy to make up for the lack of mobility.
It`s a poor squad we have, but Lennon has to find a more settled XI to build up some sort of chemistry.

Hampson has had no chance at all to show what he can do, other than a brief cameo at Starks.
I remember there was a lot of hype when we signed him from Sheff Utd fans who really rate him.
Who knows he might be the creative spark to provide some chances for our forwards (Kane).

its a game we should not have gotten anything from in the last home league game. but midweek game we got a very comfortable win. Why can`t we do it again?
Hopefully Lennon will have seen more of the players in training and last weeks performance will have given him some food for thought. would like to see some changes. definitely one with Young being injured anyway.
I would like to see Bene rested due to his poor form and ongoing court issues. Cant be doing him any good. But does the manager trust Fogarty enough to give him a go. The last 2 managers have clearly seen something that has put them off that change.
The big game is on Saturday. At least a point tonight would be a huge confidence boost.

Lenny was complimentary of Benedictus in his post match interview. Our defence is as good as any this season - it’s our lack goals at the other end. I hope he finds room for Raymond, Cooper and Stevens. Wotherspoon if fit could be useful too.
When a goal goes in off someone’s backside ( looks like that’s what it will take to score just now) expect a big uplift in the chances coming our way. I want us to win obviously but with Hamilton, Airdrie and QP coming up it’s confidence in front of goals that’s vital. I would take a defeat if we can score a couple - and from others than just Kane.

You could see very clearly that Kyle Benedictus was absolutely gutted with his misplaced pass that led to Ayr`s second goal. Whatever else has been going on in his life, we don`t know the details of, but he`s been carrying a heavy burden. There`s no doubt he gives his all for the team and feels it deeply when we fail. Give him a bit of respect. Let`s not shout too loudly for his removal from the starting eleven. At least to me, he still looks like the best option at centre back and more likely to win defensive headers than anyone else we have.

Can understand the concerns about the lineup.
The team reminds me a wee bit of a James McPake side. Under him I`d often look at the lineup and simplistically count the number of defensive vs attacking /creative players and invariably the balance was too much towards the former. This looks like a team you`d send out away from home not to get beat.
Hopefully everyone who is concerned is wrong.

Not a creative line up at and Kane aside no goals in it too, can’t work out where any width is coming from either. It’s more in hope than expectation that Todd is fit and produces something tonight, he looked like he was pulling a boat away at airdrie and we’ve had hardly anything from him this season.
Feels like it’s a keep it tight for 70 minutes and try and pinch one game!

Decent first half.
Competed well, midfield been strong and won a lot of 2nd balls. Been impressed with Clay, keeps it simple and reads game well. Says a lot about his professionalism to keep himself fit and ready to come in when it looked like he`d been cast off by last two managers and likely wouldn`t play again.
Chalmers also been decent, covered well on his side and only let himself be exposed in a one-on-one with Muirhead on a single occassion.
We are still crying out for a naturally left sided midfielder but no change there !

Dominating so far, expect Livi to come into it more.
Chalmers passing making so much difference, at least we are getting balls in the box, he`s got confidence which is great to see.
Pitch will be a tattie field for the rest of the season!
Let`s see what the 2nd half brings.

Imagine if Airdrie and ourselves both stayed up (which I predicted on this forum a month ago). Airdrie are flying, now we need to keep up our end of the bargain (not that I care about Airdrie).
Touch wood etc. Let`s get another couple in the second half as Airdrie are creeping up to us with the goal difference which could be crucial.
Touch wood etc 🤞

Players played in the correct positions.no fannying about at the back, we have a keeper with a kick like a mule, and we let him kick it like a mule! Not rocket science.

It was rough and ready - Lenny played the players in the right positions doing all ( no more) than they are capable of. Lots of out the park or out the danger zone clearances. Long balls from Tobi were either picked up or got us a throw in well up the park. Football doesn’t have to be silky. Well won Pars. If ( if) we can beat Hamilton it is starting to look better.

What makes that result even better was surviving the last 5 minute onslaught on our box by Livi. Everyone tonight put a shift in and done their jobs. Yeah some passes went wrong and tackles missed, but these guys arent playing in the world cup. They made up for their mistakes today and nobody hid.
The ref though lost complete control in the second half. Which meant he had to get the cards out more and more. How Brandon stayed on the pitch was a miracle.
Shout out to Joe Chalmers tonight - he was outstanding. May not win an arial battle, but even on the ground he was nicking away dangerous passes etc late on. And his pass to Todd was sublime. Shout out to JCM as well - what a player!
Same again on Saturday and we will be fine - Lennons way of playing is instantly recognisable as direct and more on the front foot than either of the last 2 managers, which is what this league needs.

That is a big result. If you`re an Airdrie fan you`ll be sick that the gap is still as big.
I was talking to someone that watched us train and he said that the big focus was on getting up the park quickly and we certainly saw that tonight. What a difference from the slow lethargic approach we`re used to. It was a battle, particularly in the second half and I thought Clay was a bit unlucky to get taken off although Hamilton battled well when he came on.
Chalmers mom? Not for me. He had a few sublime passes but he`s not physical enough to play there and can get dominated.
I`d have gone for Mullen again. There seems to be nothing the boy can`t do.
Looking forward to Saturday now.

That`s your bread and butter there. Win your 50/50s, second balls and it sets the stall for the rest to follow.
Maybe old cliche stuff but it`s what Livingston usually do so well and why they are so effective.
Was a nervy final ten minutes or so but we defended our 18 yard box really well even with a few scares (they must have won every initial header flick on from Muirhead`s long throws).
Clay, Chalmers & Sideshow Bob in particular were excellent.

Agree summeragent, if Ngwenya is fit he starts. Was dubious about him first few games but he’s came on pretty well and I like him.
Also what a night for football, bevy is going down a treat and optimistic well batter then 4-0 now 😂

More fight tonight than any other game this season. It wasn’t pretty for the most part, but the direct approach is way more effective - so refreshing to see. The players have been unleashed!

How was the pitch looking? Has it improved
Was always going to cut up, Lenny had the lads training on it yesterday to cut it up a little to make the game more direct which suited Pars and the back 3.
C'mon Ye Pars!

I remember plaing Livi in a midweek game on 1st April a few years ago. We won 1-0 that night and really had to hold on at the end. I had it in my head all day and hoped we might get similar tonight, and so happy that it`s pretty much exactly how it went.
Really good win, and probably the most absorbed I`ve got in a game this season. Winning 4-1 at Firhill was great, but there`s something very special about a nervy 1-0 when you have to hang on late in the game.
The shape was 3-5-2 (I`d probably say 3-4-1-2) and the style was more direct. Both probably helped, but the main thing was just that we played well tonight, both individually and as a team.
The goal at that time was a big one. I was starting to wonder whether it was going to be that one we`ve all seen a million times before where we`re the better side in the first half but don`t manage to score, then the game changes and we don`t win. We deserved the lead at half-time and it was a good goal too.
It turned inta a pretty decent game in the second half. We were under pressure but we kept trying to go forward as well, and that made a difference.
The first half penalty shoult looked a pretty clear penalty to me. Maybe it was hit from closer than I realised or maybe the ref just didn`t have a good view, but I was really surprised it wasn`t given.
The incident where their keeper went down cheating - I know that no ref is ever going to give a penalty there, but part of me wonders why not. He booked both players and I`m pretty sure the keeper pushed Yeboah before the contact back that started the cheating. So, if both dererved a booking, logically, the foul should be given for the first one.
Anyway, very happy with the win and also happy that we played well together. Everyone contributed. I love it when we win and play so well as a team.

Socks, the keeper was holding Yeboahs jersey as he ran past him to get back in to position and Yeboah swung his arm to get himself free. As you say though, the foul should be given for the first offence.

I actually enjoyed that game tonight and it`s a long time since I`ve been able to say that. Well done to Neil Lennon for managing to get that performance out of them and well done to the players for grinding it out under pressure. That Mullen laddie is some player, some of his touches were exquisite. Leeds must have a good team if they can let him go. Same again on Saturday and we will almost be safe I reckon.

Thanks dd23. I had started to look away so didn`t catch it clearly, but was pretty sure I`d seen some sort of contact from the keeper first. There probably wasn`t that much in either of them, and if the keeper hadn`t started acting like a fanny by trying to get Yeboah sent off then you`d imagine the game would have just continued without the ref needing to get involved at all.
I don`t think the ref had an especially bad game tonight, but he certainly had a couple of 5-minute spells when he incurred my calm, mild displeasure.

The keeper acted like a wee cry-baby f@nny at the end on his way off the pitch, giving it the "going down" stuff.

Well deserved win last night. Thought every player played out there skin last night. Neil very vocal and encouraging on the line aswell. Always shouting to get forward which none of the other managers done.
When yeboah come on you could see him getting told to get the ball and run the lines with it.
Cmon ye pars

I was utterly elated by the win last night. When we scored, I was genuinely moved to the brink of tears. It has been quite a while since I seen us win, the last being a 1-0 win against Airdrie at home on November 16th. I have been to numerous matches since, but when my schedule permitted on weekends. Seeing the team sheet, I found the inclusion of Clay and Todd to be surprising. I was apprehensive, as they had not played many games. While I understand Clay had considerable reserve games, I did not believe Todd had featured at all. I felt Clay performed brilliantly. The entire team, without exception, was exceptional. They were direct, proactive, and consistently aiming to advance the ball forward with purpose. As I continuously checked the Airdrie score, this win held immense significance for us. The upcoming match against Hamilton represents the most critical game of the season, a must-win for us. I hope we can build on this momentum, and under Lennon`s guidance, I am confident we shall.

There was a point where one of our players was going to make a clearance and the ball bounced a good foot above where it was going, to big oooh’s from the crowd who saw the poor bounce. The clearance was made, but not to the expected place.
I am also sure there was a bad bounce for Tobi in one of his saves.
However there was more grass on the surface that there has been.
