According to the Courier, players will learn their fate today..imagine we’ll find out at some point tomorrow!

If it`s today then given the sheer volume of gossiping sweetie wives in football, it wouldn`t surprise me if we saw news tonight. In the social media age and all that.

It seems odd to me to tell the players their fate before clarifying Neil Lennon`s position.

Maybe they are wanting a complete clear out regardless of the manager

The trip was a short one, wasn’t a week long vacation

It must have been very short if NL was at Montrose v ICT on Saturday (assuming he was there!).

I just heard the club had paid for a trip away.
Anyway;
Currently leaves Dunfermline with a squad of Deniz Mehmet, Ewan Otoo, Sam Young, Kyle Benedictus, Sam Fisher, Kieran Ngwenya, Kane Ritchie-Hosler, Matty Todd, Andrew Tod, Chris Kane, Connor Young, Taylor Sutherland and Keith Bray

That`s not actually too bad tbh. We`ll need more everywhere though, particularly if things go south with an upcoming court case.

Yeah it isn’t too bad, would like to see if Mehmet and Fisher could be moved on if possible.

They were at Hamilton races yesterday. My guess is Lennon already knows his position. I expect him to appear in a promo video for the new season tickets. Just speculation, mind, but makes sense if the info’s solid.
c'mon the pars

Depends on the outcome with the court case bene and fisher might miss a few months 🤷♂️ also depends what the clubs stance on it will be once it has all played out in court.

IMO no. Court case aside, too slow and makes errors. Got to be better out there.

Personally, I wouldn’t keep him. Lennon seemed to rate him in the back three, but I always felt that was more a best of a bad bunch situation than a real endorsement of quality. He’s not consistent enough, and I can’t see any scenario where he holds on to the captain’s armband after this season both on and off the pitch. Time to move on, in my opinion.

Our defence is much better when Bene plays. Great experience and good organiser. Definitely keep. Unlikely we`ll sign 2 or 3 better centre halfs for next season.

If we are relying on Bene at the heart of our defence for next season, we might as well plan for relegation, to slow, to many mistakes,
Tell him to find another club

Might be worth retaining Bene in the squad but maybe not necessarily as a first choice starter. We are going to need a squad of around 24 I would think if we are serious about having a crack at promotion. He is only going to get slower from this point…. Depends just how big the budget is going to be tho ultimately. Could be a lot of the players we do retain from the current squad become 2nd or 3rd choice for their position.

The real question is this - how many of this current crop of players are good enough to be in a team fighting for the title next season?
Honestly, Id say 2 maybe 3. There are 2/3 you g players that MAY develop to that level, but certainly need time to get there.
That is why the majority of this lot should be sent packing and rebuild started sooner rather than later this year.

I’m sure he said at the end of his post match interview on Friday that he would be around this week to sit down with the players regarding who was staying and who was not getting retained

Get rid of the out of contract players now…Bene and Fisher will be up to the club with their court case..The club has to get things bone early regarding players and get a settled pre season and win the League next season!!

Lennon was on talksport this morning just before 9am discussing the old firm game. At the end he spent a couple minutes discussing Dunfermline. He was very complimentary about the owner, fan base and the size of the club. He felt it was an exciting project and said that talks to stay on were progressing well. Everything he says points to him being in charge next season.
