I just heard the club had paid for a trip away.
Anyway;
Currently leaves Dunfermline with a squad of Deniz Mehmet, Ewan Otoo, Sam Young, Kyle Benedictus, Sam Fisher, Kieran Ngwenya, Kane Ritchie-Hosler, Matty Todd, Andrew Tod, Chris Kane, Connor Young, Taylor Sutherland and Keith Bray

They were at Hamilton races yesterday. My guess is Lennon already knows his position. I expect him to appear in a promo video for the new season tickets. Just speculation, mind, but makes sense if the info’s solid.

Depends on the outcome with the court case bene and fisher might miss a few months 🤷♂️ also depends what the clubs stance on it will be once it has all played out in court.

Personally, I wouldn’t keep him. Lennon seemed to rate him in the back three, but I always felt that was more a best of a bad bunch situation than a real endorsement of quality. He’s not consistent enough, and I can’t see any scenario where he holds on to the captain’s armband after this season both on and off the pitch. Time to move on, in my opinion.

Might be worth retaining Bene in the squad but maybe not necessarily as a first choice starter. We are going to need a squad of around 24 I would think if we are serious about having a crack at promotion. He is only going to get slower from this point…. Depends just how big the budget is going to be tho ultimately. Could be a lot of the players we do retain from the current squad become 2nd or 3rd choice for their position.

The real question is this - how many of this current crop of players are good enough to be in a team fighting for the title next season?
Honestly, Id say 2 maybe 3. There are 2/3 you g players that MAY develop to that level, but certainly need time to get there.
That is why the majority of this lot should be sent packing and rebuild started sooner rather than later this year.

Lennon was on talksport this morning just before 9am discussing the old firm game. At the end he spent a couple minutes discussing Dunfermline. He was very complimentary about the owner, fan base and the size of the club. He felt it was an exciting project and said that talks to stay on were progressing well. Everything he says points to him being in charge next season.

Presumably, this is the list of players under contract and will be here next season, unless sold or loaned out?
I can’t see too many of the out of contract players getting a new deal? I’d personally keep Cooper and Hamilton. I’m a bit worried about JCM. I think he might get a better offer and be off? Lennon has spoken well about Oakley- Boothe in his interviews. I hope Tobi can extend his loan.
Comrie and McCann. Have they done enough to convince the manager ? His preferred three at the back, doesn’t play to Comrie’s strengths and McCann just doesn’t score enough. The manager has often said the team needs more goals.
I’d expect the young lads in the reserves that have done well, will be retained.
It could be adios to the rest ?

I’m a bit worried about JCM
I`m not an expert in football contract law, but he signed a contract with us that included the option for the CLUB to extend it, if we trigger it, then he has no option. That`s how I`ve interpreted it anyway.

Good attitude but I don`t think he`s that good a footballer. I thought Welsh-Hayes looked better in the ball, more composed and physically stronger. I think we need better if we want to challenge at the top end.

We have an option of a one year contract on JCM and we are 100% taking it. This comes from someone very senior inside the club I spoke to a few weeks ago. It is very likely we are negotiating with him on a longer deal though.

I always feel with Comrie it`s his distribution that lets him down but in the grand scheme of things our defensive record is what has saved us the last couple of seasons. If he could get somebody ahead of him on the right wing producing the goods I think he could come on again? At times I`ve felt he hasn`t had someone in front of him to aim at and showing for the ball.
As always it depends on who the alternatives are and he might want a new challenge anyway but I think he would be one that would have no problem finding a club if we were to let him go.
A bit of continuity in the defence might help us hit the ground running next season though? It`s the midfield and forward areas that have been lacking in general.

I watched the Dunfermline V Rangers game from 2006-7. In terms of positivity and pressing forward, you can see the difference to the games we have watched this season. Driving forward into space, first time crosses, first time shot off inside the box. Hopefully we can get back to that style of play.

Don`t even have to go that far back. I stumbled on a game from 2015 or so on YouTube the other day. Faz, Moff etc. I felt like I was watching a different sport such was the movement and attacking play.

I`d also like us to offer Cooper a new deal. He`s creative, something we`ve been starved of. If he looks after himself during the close season and gets a full preseason, I think he could be a real asset.
Creativity is something successive managers haven`t prioritised. I`d keep Cooper and look to add a few more who can play in wide areas.

Cooper the only one who I would keep, has done okay this season as an impact sub and was underused but still managed 4 goals.
I suspect those that of those who are under contract, only mullan, etoo, bray, young and kane will be anywhere near the starting line up come the 1st game of the season. Maybe bene if we prioritise the midfield and forwards in this window.
Ideally we can loan allow to leave some of those who are under contract next year, otherwise we’ll have a good first 11 then a big drop off on the bench.

I`d keep Comrie, whether he starts the season will depend on what budget the manager is given, but far more important areas to improve rather than RB for me.
Id also like to see Tobi and Fogarty back if possible, but the rest of the out of contract players / loans can go for me.

For me Comrie is a good RB, he covers his defensive duties well.
I think he is less effective at RWB.
Whether he gets offered a deal probably depends on what system NL wants to play next season and if he thinks Comrie can be developed as a RWB.

Yeah, Comrie is perhaps worth keeping as a right back if we ever go to a back four or as a right centre back in a three. All will depend on whether he thinks he should be a guaranteed starter somewhere as he`d probably have offers at Championship level at least as an orthodox right back.

As a right back in a back four - you cannot fault him.
In a team that has to adapt from 4-4-2 to a back 3 or to 5-3-2 etc the last two options don`t suit him as well.
